I was 13 when I got into Suede, saw them live on the Brit Awards in 93(when they were breaking BIG) saw them live in early 95 on Richard Oakes first U.K. tour just after he replaced Bernard, gutted I caught them after his departure but was still a great gig & cool to have seen them in the earlier end of their time!! Was a big fan! Newport Centre February 95..(I think) still got me ticket stub somewhere!! 🙂
Wow love the whole session can't stop watching it how amazing live. Takes me back to my youth back in England all those years ago. Will always be a fan he has one of the best voices around still.
Gosh, Brett is handsome & great singer. No wonder why My mom fancies him Even after all these years that she's Been a fan (Air conditioner) of Suede :D
How the hell did Suede not reach mega star status in the US? Could it get any more melodic or credible? Unbelievable. The industry was too broken and focused on manufacturing acts and thus the true art did not get the support.
Plus the whole thing with that shitty lounge singer named Suede and having to switch to calling themselves The London Suede in the US right when they were starting to catch momentum. It was crap.
Music industry BS politics, limited airplay, and I guess, their image and lyrical content didn't appease enough of those marketing men who were probably more interested in milking the grunge scene. From a fan's point of view, it was brilliant because it was easier to obtain concert tickets at more intimate venues than those of more established or much hyped acts. Similar situation with other British bands like James, Carter USM, Blur, Oasis (pre-Wonderwall) when trying to break the US market. Saying that, the 90s was a brilliant decade in the alternative music scene.
@@dentheplodder Great take and I couldn't agree more with your points. Especially the lyrics might have been too risque for the American market (sadly).
The legal threats about their name didn't help. Had to be called 'London Suede,' in the US instead, which would have been really difficult for global marketing campaigns.
+Anthony Carmody I agree- the 'Love and Poison' gig is the best concert film I've ever seen. It makes up part of the DVD in the 2CD+DVD reissue of the debut.
He was injured in a fall from the stage at a previous concert, so was limping around with a walking cane and needng to sit to perform, poor sweetie! (Would have been totally spoiled of course)!!
I loved platonically Brett Anderson when I was thirteen and I love him even now, when I'm thirty-three. The longest relationship I've ever had :-) And of course the music is great :-)
Gorgeous Brett looks so sweet here! Rather ironic singing "The Wild Ones" with the line "Running with the Dogs today" when he wouldn't have been doing any running for a while due to that nasty fall injury, poor sweetie! (But still smiling for the fans and no doubt being throughly spoiled - who could resist)?!!
Great performence. But something was wrong here. In the beginning Brett was talking to Simon Gilbert about something.. And 5.09 in the concerts Brett gave Simon the fuck you finger. It's quick so you need to look at it several times.
It's not the fuck you finger, he's telling the sound guy to turn his microphone up. I expect he couldn't hear his vocals very well. It looks more like they didn't get to sound check so are unsure of the sound at the start even though it sounds amazing on the tape. Plus as someone else mentioned Brett wanted water.
Brett anderson's smile...no words
Suede is the coolest band from the 90’s British rock scene.
Peerless
Are the coolest band and 90s. Otherwise a sound post.
yes!
Tem muita qualidade.Nao é ara todos.Dai nao serem tão comerciais. E,ainda bem.
Period.
Brett... that face... what a piece of art!
I’m just some Mexican who hadn’t even born in 1995 yet I’m kinda kicking myself for not having been in this concert. Thanks for sharing it.
Never heard a bad version of 'My Dark Star', such a great song.
Beautiful. And so seemingly effortless. And now I want a Cachaca shirt...
25 years later, the music & lyrics are timeless. : )
Waited 10 hours in the frigid Feb cold air for this. I was first in line I think, or second.
I was there too
Brett canta maravilhosamente e vai ser bonito assim...
Absolutely wonderful! And a really precious video to be able to see here!
Questo video è veramente una perla... grazie per la condivisione.
Brett meraviglioso con sempre e gli altri bravissimi.
Great T-shirt, Brett (Brazilians will understand...) :)

I miss this year..
Love how Mat's little bass flourishes keep cracking Brett up!
That's a brilliant clip, cheers for this. Never seen it before. Shows what an awesome live band they are even when you put them on the spot. :)
Wow great sound. One of the better suede posts on youtube
"My dark stark" so f*cking high!
His vocals get you straight from the first note
Que buenos recuerdos, los escuché por primera vez en el 2002 y no dejo de hacerlo hasta hoy

Brett is an amazing singer. Unique voice. And it is so even he is sitting on a chair..

The longest relationship I've ever had :-) And of course the music is great :-)
Suede's Dog Man Star and OK Computer by Radiohead the greatest of 90s albums and the best British bands of the past 30 years.
so pretty
Lol Brett kept asking for water during Heroine and finally got it during The Wild Ones
I think he was asking for Simon's bass to be heard, too.
Tremenda Voz!
He is the one.

Oh Brett, you magnificent bastard 😍
At the beginning of the video Brett was extremely annoyed by an umbrella that was on the stage 😂😂😂
I was 14 lol! Wow and Brett still looks better than me lol.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Cachaça on his tshirt: a brazilian drink just so you know

I do enjoy that Richard turns just about all the songs into some sort of spaghetti western acoustic thing.
