  • I show how I repaired a clogged carburetor fuel filter screen on an old craftsman leaf blower and got it running again.
This is a "how I did it" video - not a "How To video". It is not meant to be the definitive word on this subject. I'm just showing how I did it ...
Here is a video on how to repair the pull starter on the same machine:

The foam air filter can be replaced with a slab of foam cut with small scissors and the 4 holes could be melted out or punched out. I washed mine in a Gatorade jug with laundry detergent/water and then rinse well. Mine was missing the fuel tube to the fuel filter! So replacing it makes it start up...

Waited 13 mins to not find out if you oiled the foam filter before reinstalling lol. But you're a good teacher so you still got a thumbs up. I wash my older filters in dish detergent, never a carb cleaner. You may have done the same, but I don't remember. Just an idea , guess I'll put some oil on her.

One thing... The little round screen you cleaned inside carb. (Good thing) only sees the fuel... the air filter problem will never clog that
little round screen in the carb. ... that is dirty fuel and pick up problem.

Thanks. I have the same model with the same issue. Primer bulb won't refill to depress. I hope it only takes me 15 minutes as it did on this video but I am thinking 3 hours lol.. 1st I need to find a 4mm allen wrench. Friggin metric crap.

Ending up doing the exact thing in the video and there was about 1/4 of the dia. of the carb covered in crap. Sprayed it out with the cleaner, put the 8 allen head bolts and the couple screws back in and it runs like a new hot rod !

Its silly to comment on old videos, but I just bought one of these for $15 at a thrift shop. I'm guessing the carb is gunked up like in this video. It wants to start so bad. I think it will be an easy fix.

Numbers are real small that I thought was the model number 530 038533 but I am getting nothing using that number trying to find parts.
I know sears didn't make it so maybe who ever did has a similar looking model.

got one just like it. bought new 30 years ago. just cranked in on the third pull after sitting since fall same old gas they dont make them this good anymore. all i have done to it since i bought it changed spark plug once and replaced fuel line and primer bulb once. graet blower. you wont get thirty years out of any of them now days. what most people dont understand about two cycle engines is that only have two speeds idol and wide open anything in between screws them up. BTW pull the mixture screw cover off with needle nose pliers so you can get her to run right!

@@SevenFortyOne 45:1 would be plenty of lubrication and likely will not hurt the performance... modern synthetic 5w/30 oil and ethanol -free gasoline only.
