Hi Michael. Good morning I’m one of your subscribers. Regularly watching your videos. I appreciate your hard work in showing Philippines to us who have no chance to visit many places especially Iloilo where I’m from. Thanks for regular release of your videos. I can see your dedication and sincerity. All the best and take care. ❤ I’m sharing this video to my friends and colleagues. I especially like this Guimbal festival because the costumes are mix of modern and traditional. And most of all you presented the contents excellently. 👍🏻
@Mary- I have enjoyed all of M’s festival and or fiesta vlogs in this & in the prior channel. But your comment led me to reply that i enjoyed the choreography of the different groups/tribes & all the marchers very much in this one. The best so far to me. They were unique in each tribe, but yet they had an underlying theme/connection, too. & I just thought the moves were great with the beat & music! But I think, I think my fave drum line was from the very first Dinagyang fiesta that M covered, not sure which name exactly but it was the first one they covered & in Iloilo city & he & B were approached by the TV/Radio crew in it. The drums were so …WOW! I’ve always been a percussion fan & luv drum lines in USA high schools & university bands, for example. But that was another level. Great here too though!

Big thanks in memory of Nonoy Jalandoni, my friend and former bandmate who's now pased on. He's responsible for bringing Samba as a festival into the Philippines. He taught a whole city to samba in celebration of their Pasalamat Festival in La Carlota City in 1979. I was there on that incredible day in May. The city had been suffering from a massie, months-long drought, and before the parade could start, heavy rain fell down on the city. The city erupted with joy, and the whole parade spontaneously started minutes before its supposed start. Since then, his La Carlota Drumbeaters have become legenary and Samba has spread throughout the Philippines. Mabuhay ka Noy! CAVEAT:I WAS WRONG! Listening to the drumbeaters, I realize that this is not samba;; neither is it Ati-Atihan. It's a blend of both, and unique to Guimbal. Congratulations!
I'm moving to the Philippines in July and have a question. It would be fun to travel around and experience festivals in various cities, but how does one find out about these festivals? Is there a website that provides a list of upcoming festivals? Great job, love your channel.
