The problem with Timi that Metagross outlines is that Timi knows how to balance and has a good idea of what the mon should be like, but it’s almost obvious they don’t play their own game. Every time, they create balance changes, and it’s always over or undertuned. It’s not like they’re bad at balancing, they just need to know what their changes actually do.

First time where almost every mon is good, but not absolutely dominating (besides EX mons ofc), and the mons that are bad are mostly the annoying ones. Hell, even EX mons are actually kinda fun if you play them with specific builds. Besides the game as a whole, the gameplay itself is quite good, and it’s more rewarding and less punishing than mobas like LoL or even Dota2. The problem with the game is the one many other live service games are having. Fun WITH engagement, not only one or the other. But of course, it doesn’t change the serious problem that Timi doesn’t test out their game. They need hired beta testers that actually know how to play the game and balance, instead of just throwing numbers at the wall and hoping for the best.

I, for one, am here for the metagross meta. In all seriousness, they probably overtuned gyroball. I feel like meteor mash should be the move for damage and gyro ball for sustain, but gyro ball just does everything right now. I love the Pokémon, so I hope they can find a way to make it good but balanced.
First thing, revert the iron defense buff. You're a three stage pokemon, you're NOT supposed to dominate lane at level 3. Then, either revert the gyroball buffs, or decrease both the damage and the shield by at least 30%, or increase its cooldown to at least 6 seconds. Revert the magnet rise buffs, the movement speed is stupid. That should do it. I think the extra defenses are fine, it's supposed to brawl. It's NOT supposed to one shot attackers and chase down speedsters.
Reminds me of when they buffed Mimikyu's play rough. They just swung it WAY too far in the other direction. For as much damage you can do and how much of a shield you get that CD is WAY too low.
I know they only use names for inspiration but Gyro Ball doing this much damage while Metagross is so fast just feels wrong. It really should just be good shield low damage sustain move and let Meteor Mash be high damage lower shield. Also Zen Heabutt should be higher damage/cc, lower mobility while Magnet Rise should be lower damage/cc, higher mobility. But Rise also has everything.

I hate these massive and unnecessary buffs. No doubt metagross needs to be tuned down a bit but hopefully it doesn’t kill it. I’m more worried about the unnecessary garde unite buff and if they’ll tone down its damage or abilities to make up for this ridiculous boost to its unite charge

The only buff it needed was CD but the devs are stupid and love to double or triple down on something not only that the numbers were massive. We saw them and I knew it was going to be a problem. Doubling and something went up by 30%...now where was that heard if before....oh Mewtwo getting stat buffs to 30% before nerfs. Devs legit are incapable even with their own references.

i think its the running away using magnet rise that needs the nerf, you wait for a sec and spam it again with free double mobility. give him the opportunity to brawl but not get out of jail for free , reduce the duration of the magnet raise effect or increase the cooldown
Not entirely surprised, in some ways he was on the line before, due to how his kit combos with itself, he just had bad numbers, so on occasion he’d pop off but most of the time sorta meh Now with good numbers he is just a sentient ICBM, especially considering how gyro ball has free movement, it’s really easy to readjust mid attack and keep up with the opponent. Heck even sword doggo needs to stop for .2 seconds to draw his circle
For a support man it's the mobility that that moves that allows for while still outputting crazy damage that makes it impossible to deal with. Unless I have a Defender babysitting me I'm going to get run down and there's nothing I can do
its sad they made metagross so strong, because i know they are going to gut it now, like they did to ttar and dragonite and tsareena in the past, or scizor off the pts, or urshifu and zacian recently. Whenever they make a melee pokemon very strong, the game always decides that the best thing to do is just to gut the mon out of the game. The even sadder part is, is that originally in the unite website, when they said that gyro ball would do about 30% more damage, have bigger shields, and have 1 second less cooldown, everyone was saying "yeah thats fair, that move was very bad". But then the actual patch came, and it wasnt a 30% damage and shields increase, it was more like almost DOUBLE what it was before. They should just give us the 30% they originally advertised.
Idk what Christmas break did to developers but they all seem to be making horrible balance changes recently, between this and overwatch 2 with orisa having no falloff on her primary fire it genuinely feels like the players know how to better balance their game more than the devs
They didn't need to do much, just a bit less CD in some of its moves and the unite move fix. The extra defenses, extra damage, extra shield and extra movement speed on its moves were unneeded, Timi just always making a mess. Hope this doesn't last too long but maybe hoping for it to be fixed in just a month is just being stupidly optimistic.
No? Its laning phase has everything you need and more I would argue running it mid is a bit of a waste since getting stacks and snowballing at lv5 is the best thing it does, even before the nerf.
Have a nice power spike or receiving a nice unite move is something lv 9 evo mon need, but sustaining suicidal brain dead plays is a little too much. If the price of evolving at level 9 is beeing undefeatable, undying and absolute, it means they should reduce the evolution level, cuz breaking the game is not a "fair choice". All the mons need pros, cons, different playstyles and STILL BE BALANCED.
Upon release it was underwhelming, so their response was to make broken and fix it later. Hopefully they will adjust his vaules early into the next season and not towards the end of the season.
Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong? Because I’ve had more success with Meteor Mash. Like I’ll still do top 2 in damage usually but I’m not getting the crazy high numbers. Running same items and emblems even but my damage isn’t going crazy. Though I’ve been having bad luck with teammates the last few days of having no support and no supporters so maybe that’s it?
They left it alone on the test server despite how weak it was, somehow made it WEAKER on release and then... buffed it to THIS level? What was the point of the bloody test server then?! Isn't THAT where they test tweaks like this?

Gotta love these kinds of buffs because you get those players who think they can quickly rank up just by playing the new op pokemon only to get curb stomped by an underlevelled Goodra just because they 1. The Unite Move has been fixed. You become unstoppable when you use it now. And if it somehow still becomes canceled, your Unite Move charge goes down to 91%.
I fought a metagross with a stunt team gardevoir with moonblast and future sight i think with the tree and clef all had the move that stunt i played meowscarade the metagross literally won't ko the shield is too strong it survive my ult and attack on the same fight 3 time with slight bit of health remain each time would have won if i had 2-5 stack but he won't let you score that things unkillable lmao

@@jeanalaint I never said you should buy every pokemon (I think very few people even play more than a dozen different pokemon), but it's definitely not hard to own most of them. Unless you're buying every release you should have enough saved up to buy a new pokemon if you want. Every company wants and needs to make money, and if you're not willing to spend anything on a game that lets you play as many hours as you want for free, then that says as much about you as it says about the company. No one can't blame you if you don't want to spend money on a game, but neither can you blame the game for giving to option to support it to the people who wish to do so. Not that any of this matters since as we've already established that buffing Metagross after it becomes available for coins makes no sense if the goal is to maximize profit.
I'm bad at all rounder. I can sort of play azu but I'm a lot better at the other roles. Today I decided to have a go at metagross. Randomly pressing buttons, pushing at people, no clue what I was doing with it. 130k damage. I put him away and went back to wiggly until they fix him.
as usual TIMI messed up again. i agree, they overbuff the gyroball. i had multiple matches with the enemy metagross doesn't die in single time. the gyro ball deal so much dmg and gives a huge shield. not to mention, it's has low CD
it makes sense tbh. it’s a good way for people to spend currency in the game to reach masters faster and get rewards. so they probably know what they are doing since it happens with every off the charts buff 😂
Maybe an unpopular opinion… but this is one game, and even at that there is a lot to be analyzed. I gotta see more before I’m ready to jump on the “it’s broken” train. To me this one game isn’t a great example of being broken, he just out leveled the whole game and faced mainly squishy attackers with that 2-3lvl advantage. It’s a skill to keep lvl advantage within a game, a lot of players would have lost it. But take almost any mon in the game, give it 2-3lvls up on anything it faces and it’ll seem broken. That’s how the game works. Anyhow, I’m sure you all know more about how to tweak cooldowns and buffs than I do, maybe that’s the solution. Just my two cents. Really enjoy your content! Thanks.

The only 2 pokemon I beat this thing with one on one was Outrage dragonite (we were the same level and not on a goal) and glaceon because I had x speed to maintain distance. Other than that I got pooped on every other time
Gyro balls shield make sense but it does too much damage perhaps nerf the damage and itll be fine also its unite and zen headbutt need a buff i think both should have unstoppable to it and theyd be good.
For me, there is no reason for a shielding/healing move have 4 secs cooldown+cd reduce at boosted attacks That damage would be fine if it didnt happen so many times in a single fight while receiving a shield that sustains any suicidal attempt as if it were normal
I was going to get Metagross but when I started seeing he was overbuffed I shied away from it. Don't want to make the purchase just so it can get nerfed into the ground
Upon playing it more, I agree this is very very good now. But if it's going to get a nerf, others need it before, because Metagross doesn't have sure-hits and the Unite is meh at best. I'd just nerf Gyro Ball a little bit in terms of early levels shieldand damage.

We all know that if they nerf it than that is it for meta i like him like how he is because he is a reg attacker that can go against these crazy sp attack builds like genger dream eater that is insane on damage really any pokemon that is a sp attack should all be nerfed or make it where reg attack pokemon boost emblems match the sp attack ones that way it would be fair and balanced i been playing for a bit now it just what i noticed that no matter the pokemon if they are a sp attack it kills off the other pokmon that are reg attack
Pre-buff Metagross had 3 major problems imo: 1 - Super cancellable and low impact unite move 2 - Painful cooldown lengths 3 - As much as it's an all rounder, metagross didn't lean enough into a specific strength, never dealing quite enough damage, and never being quite tanky enough While I do think the unite move needs more attention, the move cooldown issue was improved thankfully - it's point no.3 that was implemented poorly. Before the patch I preferred the meteor mash playstyle, and it felt like the 'offensive' pathway to gyro ball's more 'defensive' pathway. Meteor Mash's higher damage had a clear trade-off in its longer cooldown and more precise hitbox, but after the buffs gyro ball is just the clear answer. Considering it's cooldown is half that of MM, the damage, shield and wide radius of GB is too strong - and I think the damage is probably the major thing to address, returning to that dichotomy of a more offensive and defensive move option. When it comes to the other two moves, I'd much sooner see zen headbutt get buffed than wanting magnet rise to be nerfed. Once again, I think they should be offering a distinct strength and style with the move options. Yes, every mon will always have a build that is more optimal, but striving for a level of balance where no move feels utterly outclassed would be nice.
At first i thought it was Kinda funny but now he became a huge problem for me and my team that gets oko by it i mean think of the last time you seen this thing get taken down by your team i bet you see your team flop from this thing while being forced to watch your team lose

Gyro ball needs an emergency nerf to the damage (and maybe its cooldown could be 1 sec longer), but the other moves are ok, I don't think meteor mash is broken in comparison to some other things in the game. And the Unite move is still bad so they could both buff it and nerf gyro in the same emergency patch

Trying to play Scizor into Metagross/Comfey or clefable has been an unpleasant experience

Lol I dont have an issue with meta gross. Mystical fire slyveon dashes around it so many times. And moon blast garde with ultra just wipes it

I feel like meteor mash and gyro's damage output should be swapped. Not like formula-wise but i feel MM with the longer cooldown just isnt worth it even if you were to nerf gyro. But maybe they just buffed it till they can fix its unite lol
Gotta love these kinds of buffs because you get those players who think they can quickly rank up just by playing the new op pokemon only to get curb stomped by an underlevelled Goodra just because they 1. Chose the wrong moveset or 2. Aren’t very good at the game. It’s op alright but I still haven’t gone against a good Metagross player… they all just seem to be jumping on a bandwagon.

I had 34 KO’s the other day with the Gross and 186k dmg, mainly usinh Slick Spoon
all it needed was bug fixes with its unite, and instead they just super buffed everything else.

The Unite Move has been fixed. You become unstoppable when you use it now. And if it somehow still becomes canceled, your Unite Move charge goes down to 91%.

I fought a metagross with a stunt team gardevoir with moonblast and future sight i think with the tree and clef all had the move that stunt i played meowscarade the metagross literally won't ko the shield is too strong it survive my ult and attack on the same fight 3 time with slight bit of health remain each time would have won if i had 2-5 stack but he won't let you score that things unkillable lmao

@@jeanalaint I never said you should buy every pokemon (I think very few people even play more than a dozen different pokemon), but it's definitely not hard to own most of them. Unless you're buying every release you should have enough saved up to buy a new pokemon if you want. Every company wants and needs to make money, and if you're not willing to spend anything on a game that lets you play as many hours as you want for free, then that says as much about you as it says about the company. No one can't blame you if you don't want to spend money on a game, but neither can you blame the game for giving to option to support it to the people who wish to do so. Not that any of this matters since as we've already established that buffing Metagross after it becomes available for coins makes no sense if the goal is to maximize profit.

I'm bad at all rounder. I can sort of play azu but I'm a lot better at the other roles. Today I decided to have a go at metagross. Randomly pressing buttons, pushing at people, no clue what I was doing with it. 130k damage. I put him away and went back to wiggly until they fix him.
as usual TIMI messed up again. i agree, they overbuff the gyroball. i had multiple matches with the enemy metagross doesn't die in single time. the gyro ball deal so much dmg and gives a huge shield. not to mention, it's has low CD
it makes sense tbh. it’s a good way for people to spend currency in the game to reach masters faster and get rewards. so they probably know what they are doing since it happens with every off the charts buff 😂

Maybe an unpopular opinion… but this is one game, and even at that there is a lot to be analyzed. I gotta see more before I’m ready to jump on the “it’s broken” train. To me this one game isn’t a great example of being broken, he just out leveled the whole game and faced mainly squishy attackers with that 2-3lvl advantage. It’s a skill to keep lvl advantage within a game, a lot of players would have lost it. But take almost any mon in the game, give it 2-3lvls up on anything it faces and it’ll seem broken. That’s how the game works.
Anyhow, I’m sure you all know more about how to tweak cooldowns and buffs than I do, maybe that’s the solution. Just my two cents.

Gyro balls shield make sense but it does too much damage perhaps nerf the damage and itll be fine also its unite and zen headbutt need a buff i think both should have unstoppable to it and theyd be good.
For me, there is no reason for a shielding/healing move have 4 secs cooldown+cd reduce at boosted attacks
That damage would be fine if it didnt happen so many times in a single fight while receiving a shield that sustains any suicidal attempt as if it were normal

Upon playing it more, I agree this is very very good now. But if it's going to get a nerf, others need it before, because Metagross doesn't have sure-hits and the Unite is meh at best.
I'd just nerf Gyro Ball a little bit in terms of early levels shieldand damage.

+1 on nerfing Metagross. Played as Comfey and we constantly wiped the floor with the opponent team so hard. Didn't event care about the rest of the team; easy carry in Master Rank. Feels worse than Mewtwo Y

We all know that if they nerf it than that is it for meta i like him like how he is because he is a reg attacker that can go against these crazy sp attack builds like genger dream eater that is insane on damage really any pokemon that is a sp attack should all be nerfed or make it where reg attack pokemon boost emblems match the sp attack ones that way it would be fair and balanced i been playing for a bit now it just what i noticed that no matter the pokemon if they are a sp attack it kills off the other pokmon that are reg attack
Pre-buff Metagross had 3 major problems imo:
1 - Super cancellable and low impact unite move
2 - Painful cooldown lengths
3 - As much as it's an all rounder, metagross didn't lean enough into a specific strength, never dealing quite enough damage, and never being quite tanky enough
While I do think the unite move needs more attention, the move cooldown issue was improved thankfully - it's point no.3 that was implemented poorly. Before the patch I preferred the meteor mash playstyle, and it felt like the 'offensive' pathway to gyro ball's more 'defensive' pathway.
Meteor Mash's higher damage had a clear trade-off in its longer cooldown and more precise hitbox, but after the buffs gyro ball is just the clear answer. Considering it's cooldown is half that of MM, the damage, shield and wide radius of GB is too strong - and I think the damage is probably the major thing to address, returning to that dichotomy of a more offensive and defensive move option.
When it comes to the other two moves, I'd much sooner see zen headbutt get buffed than wanting magnet rise to be nerfed. Once again, I think they should be offering a distinct strength and style with the move options. Yes, every mon will always have a build that is more optimal, but striving for a level of balance where no move feels utterly outclassed would be nice.
Dom't emergency nerf it, juzt let us have 1 fun patch of BUSTED metagross before he gets the TTar treatment.

Gyro ball needs an emergency nerf to the damage (and maybe its cooldown could be 1 sec longer), but the other moves are ok, I don't think meteor mash is broken in comparison to some other things in the game. And the Unite move is still bad so they could both buff it and nerf gyro in the same emergency patch
