    Thank you for this tutorial as it was exactly what I needed to review as I had not set up a new home computer in 10 years. Thank you for going over each step showing photos and where you plug items into. Very helpful tutorial for a non technical person like myself.

      Glad it helped! I was wondering if this video would be helpful, as most people without a computer wouldn't be able to watch it. I hope it'll be helpful for people watching from their phone. Thank you for watching.

    What if you have both hdmi and vga ports on a slightly older pc and only use one monitor? I’ve tried hdmi but it doesn’t seem to work, so do I need to buy the vga cable as well?
    Also I’m confused because when I plug the mouse into any of the usb ports the mouse lights up, but it will not move the cursor?

    Hello... I'm connecting my computer by Ethernet to my router most of my browsing is TH-cam tutorials, Amazon- no gaming. Do I purchase a Cat 6 -7 or 8 ethernet cable? Thank you

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any standard network cable you find will be more than adequate. There's no need for CAT7/CAT8 unless you're using multi-gigabit speeds which the vast majority of computer users will never use.

      Can you confirm the cable is securely plugged in on both ends? Sometimes reseating them at both ends can help. Do you have another computer to test the cable with? Are you connecting a 2nd monitor to your computer or is this the only one you're connecting? And what's the computer model number?

    My husband (71y/o) just purchased a new HP Desktop PC from Best Buy. There's a black metal screen that HE "claims" was in the tower....just loose in there!!
    He's had the back off the PC 4-5 times trying to figure out WHERE this black panel (with a bunch of holes in it, it looks like a grate, etc) goes.
    Can someone help me? Thanks

    BIG WARNING: make sure that you use the graphic card ports (if you have one) instead of the motherboard ports!! I would add this warning to the video, because it's a mistake that many noobs are likely to make

    My computer says no signal

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Make sure the video cable is plugged in securely on both ends: on the monitor and on the computer's video port. If your computer has a dedicated graphics card, make sure you plug the video cable into the card's video port instead of the motherboard's video output. Also, make sure your monitor is on the correct input. On monitors that have multi inputs, it is possible to sometimes inadvertently change inputs. Most should auto switch when you plug in a video cable or it receives a video signal, but some may not have that feature or it may be disabled.
