- Painting and weathering the WWI military ambulance from Miniart. In the previous video I built the kit; in this video I paint the bus in khaki, apply decals for the ambulance version, and add wear & tear and weathering effects throughout. My plan for this kit is to add casualty figures and make a small diorama, so stay tuned for future videos!

*I like so much this kind of vehicles, typical from WW1! Very nice job MN!*
Thank you. Final part coming up soon!
Outstanding job on the bus. Great job on the paint and weathering. Looking forward to the finished diorama.
Thank you mate
Very, very nice work! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you :) Have you seen my final video in the series, with the diorama?
@@ModelNerd not yet... ... but today in a few hours... 🤜🏼🤛🏼👍🏼
You are doing a fantastic job on this model .
Thank you - much appreciated!
I love that paint job and the tips on weathering are excellent, thankyou.
Thank you Steven
Your own version of the wooden planks actually does look a lot better than the kit supplied planks.
Thanks. Yes, I was very pleased with them.
What a really interesting looking vehicle. I would like to get this model. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻
Thanks. Yes, I'd definitely recommend it. Great kit.
@@ModelNerd I found one online at a discount, pricing equivalent to US$34. Did not hesitate. Plan to build it next year. 😄
@@ronaldbyrne3320 Nice! That's a great price.
Is there a more stereotypical 1900-1920 British truck?
nein!
Still a beauty!!!
You're right - it's got just that look!
Lovely work, as usual 👍🏻
Thank you
That was a absolutely outstanding build, your painting and weathering was exceptional, congratulations on a job well done, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👌👍👌👍
Thank you mate!
😎very good
Thanks Steve
Stellar job there, MN. The painting and weathering is looking really good....the spattering certainly has made a difference to the monotone camo scheme. Great call changing the the plastic to wooden slats for the side of the bus/ambulance....so much better and far more realistic (I guess it should...they're made of wood!)
Thanks :) Yes I'm very happy with the wood. Next steps will include some mud splattering and then the figures.
Looks really nice mate
Thanks! It's taken longer than I'd thought it would to get this far, but almost done now :)
Looks like a cool kit to build. One day I will have this kit on my bench as well. Nice for a ww1 dio. ✨👍✨
Yes, it is definitely fun and I like that the detail isn't hidden.
Why grey WWI tyres is, that before the 1920ies the rubber of the tyres had a creme color, almost white or even a pink or lilac shade depending on the rubber used.
I think the colours you are suggesting are generally right for pneumatic tyres of the era, but I believe hard rubber tyres were a grey colour. Given how 'square' the tyres on the omnibus are, I'd guess they are hard rubber. Certainly looking at the archive photos the tyres appear to be a mid to dark grey colour. I think there was also a difference in British vs US designs.
This is one of my favourite builds of yours. I just love it
Thank you. Next part coming "soon"!
Nice work, like you said it's not easy doing ww1 subjects because of B/w images, but it looks great, well done.
Thank you!
🤝👍
Thanks
A fantastic build. however, I feel the inside of that cabin is too dark. Maybe remove a few planks
Thanks. Yes, it's dark for sure. But many reference photos show planks on both sides, so even darker :)
@@ModelNerd I get that, but that was full scale and being this is a model and I a sure some soldiers removed a few to let air and light in. Just saying. It's still a kickass build...
Perhaps a dot filter would also break up the monotone.
Yes, that's a good suggestion, thank you. I'm going to add a few more oil paint effects in the next video, where I'll also add the figures.
Excellent, this is about 3rd in my diorama list 👍would it be easier to paint the wood effect on the flooring before assembling? ie on the sprue?
Thanks :) I think it is 50-50 on the painting on sprue. It definitely has advantages, but I feel that I would also struggle to get a good glue joint or make a mess of things when trying to mask or clear the paint from the section to be glued.
@@ModelNerd yes, I guess I was asking because of the easily broken parts on MiniArt kits
@@tonysquires8207 Oh yes, there are plenty of those! That's a very good argument in favour of sprue-painting, for sure!
Beautiful kit. Didn't the Somme area have very chalky soil? If so, there should be some chalky grime in there, too. And dried, dark blood on some of the seats 😮
Thanks for the suggestion - I'll have to look that up.
My Granddad was a sniper in the Somme's no-man's land. Hell on Earth.
Hi Stu, I love this vehicle. I want to see what the figures add to its look and story. Great job.
Thank you. The figures were delayed a bit because I wasn't happy with the 3D print quality or my painting on the first lot. But hopefully they will look a bit different to the regular sets we often see :)
