Today we look at the haven located to the south of Gondor called Umbar. This land and fortress was the home to many events that took place mainly in the second and third ages, from being the home to the Black Numenorean's, to Gondor's continuous war against the Men of Harad, and the location of several key deaths!

Gondor and their conflict with the Haradrim, umbar and corsairs is perfect material for films and series! Good job Good Job!
I miss ‘Build me an army, Worthy of Mordor’ but it just goes with the changeover I suppose. But I shall miss it.
I wish I found an archive with their videos, so I could pluck out that part. It wasn't straight from the movie, there were those tiny sounds of bells right after "Mordor", and the sound design was just different.
Same but the new one will grow on us in time.

Loved this, thank you for crafting it! The one section I didn't quite follow was the period after Gondor's reconquista of Umbar in III.1810, which you describe as one of Gondorian neglect. I've always thought that Umbar must have been fortified and resumed being a bastion of Gondorian strength, given the relatively free hand later kings and commanders of Gondor felt they had during the long Wainrider Wars. A free hand, as in they were less concerned about the southern borders of the kingdom. There's a couple of references to this dynamic in 'Cirion and Eorl', published in Unfinished Tales. Anyway, awesome video and I'm looking forward to exploring more of them!

In the war of the ring , the corsair fleet was large enough to transport 5 thousand men , it must have been a considerable fleet.

I’m re watching every video you posted I’ll be honest I’ve watched Lotr about 5 time threw and watched hobbit 3 time threw and I played the 2 lego games and I thought why not learn everything I can I don’t really watch tv anymore but hey you live you learn you laugh
I feel like you should start back at the beginning with the music of illuvitar, valar, melkor, the forming of arda, and things like that.....just one fan’s opinion
I agree, and they do it in chronological order like you said.
Although, I doubt this would happen since the most popular videos would be made first. And the most popular videos tend to be about characters from the main movies, for example the most viewed video of the old channel if I am not mistaken was “what was thranduil doing before and after lotr?”

First lore video for the new start! The new intro is different from the old one but refreshing and epic. Umbar is one of my favourite factions throughout the ages of Middle-Earth, and you guys have made it sound much more heavenly and descriptive, rather than the evil and dirty corsairs we saw in the movies. I feel like there is definitely some difference between this new channel and HotA. Keep up the great work and continue providing us with such enjoyable and reliable videos!

The quality of the video video was wonderful and even tho it always is quite a lot to take in, at least two things always stick with me. I found the banner in the bottom left a bit distracting, though could live with it.

I think if the umbaran (umbarian? umbaren?) fleet had not been destroyed by aragorn in many years before the siege of minas tirith, the losses unflicted on gondor’s coastline by the corsairs would have been more devastating, and perhaps pelargir could have been captured or maybe even destroyed. In the end, it might not have entirely made a difference as Aragorn and the grey company do lead an enormous OP ghost army that is essentially invincible, so I don’t think minas tirith would have fallen. However, I think if the corsairs had the naval power they had before Aragorn burned it all down, they probably would have been raiding gondor’s coastline many years earlier, and before the time when the council of Elrond takes place. Since Gondor was already busy defending against Sauron’s forces on land by osgilith and guerilla-style in “occupied” ithilien, they might have been stretched too thin and perhaps could have lost pelargir, really weakening Gondor. In terms of gondor’s long-term survival, I think it could be argued that aragorn’s raid proved a wise decision.

Umbar and it's occupation and amalgamation into the Dunedain of the south is the center piece of the Sea Kings of Gondor, also the rivalry between Dol Amroth and Umbar is ancient.
