Is it the sincerity and amazing tones of Rogers vocals?… The heart breaking lyrics? The dynamic piano from Rick?, The powerful knock you in your head Sax from John? The POWERFUL guitar from Roger? The bottom foundation of it all from Dougie’s Bass? The intense Drumming from Bob? The combination makes one of the most outstanding and saddest songs I’ve ever heard. Supertramp’s Brilliance is among the all time greatest.

The drummer is beyond anything I've ever heard. The lyrics. The piano. The saxophonist. The bass. .wow. so heartfelt..sonic..unpretentious .to the point..x

Supertramp não é daqui. é de outra galáxia.

Gotta LOVE the album cover for "Famous Last Words"... The Tramp on the tightrope and the hand with scissors as he looks back with the fear knowing his fate. Those of us fans were also afraid of the meaning in the image. Don't Leave Us Now was the thought we shared.

    Don't leave me now
Leave me out in the pouring rain
With my back against the wall
    Don't leave me now
    Don't leave me now
Leave me out with nowhere to go
As the shadows start to fall
    Don't leave me now
    Don't leave me now
Leave me out on this lonely road
As the wind begins to howl
    Don't leave me now
    Don't leave me now
All alone in this darkest night
Feeling old and cold and grey
    Don't leave me now
    Don't leave me now
Leave me holding an empty heart
As the curtain starts to fall
    Don't leave me now
    Don't leave me now
All alone in this crazy world
When I'm old and cold and grey and time is gone...

THANK YOU !! I love this song 🎵 It's the first time I've ever heard a harmonica weep ! And at the end , Roger's voice goes so high when I 1st heard this I thought they had brought in a female backup singer to do that part ,? Only to realize that it was Roger ! WOW What a great song 🎵 👏 Thank you so much for playing this !

Roger plays the piano as if it were a guitar, with full chords and accompaniment as if it were a bass.
The double hit of the drum in this song is addictive!!

I was surprised that Supertramp didn't make it in the Top 15, along with Chicago, Joe Walsh & James Gang, Doobie Brothers & Allman Brothers, Santana, ZZ Top, YES, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Jeff Beck.... but then it would become MY Top 15 instead of JMBOY's... LOL.

@@dabassmann Yes, it is a surprise the The Tramp didn't make JM list. Just look at his reactions to all their songs. ( I turned him on to Supertramp with "Rudy" so he could see the train ride video) I think JM might do some reevaluating of his list and add at least one of this awesome groups tunes.

@@AliasMark69 Honestly, growing up with this music like we did is a bit different than JM's experience with trying to sort through it all 50 years later. The Beatles are a great example...they have unbelievably talented songs, but they got so much air-time that we grew weary of them.

@@dabassmann My special connection to The Beatles....My Mother Dorothy Jean Tandle…“Dotty” worked at Electro-Strings Rickenbacker Guitars “RIC” in early 1964. She did the work on the Beatles guitars. George’s 360-12...(first real production model) John’s 325 - 6 string (first with five tone/vol knobs) John’s 325-12 (first ever)…. Paul’s Left handed 4001 (first ever) .…Ten years later…..In the 1974, I worked for “Fender Musical Instruments” in Fullerton California.
I made two Fender Rhodes Electric Pianos for John Lennon/Apple Studios.
The one used on “Walls and Bridges”
“Well if they’re gonna send one, send two cause I’d like one as well”
John Lennon ordering a Fender Rhodes Electric Piano at the Apple studios.
(Elton John recorded “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” with the same piano)
My mother and myself are the only mother/son that both built an instrument for John Lennon.
My mother made guitars for many famous Rockers, including the red guitar that was smashed by Peter Townsend of the WHO and is in the Rock HOF. Chris Squire, Roger Waters, Paul McCartney (left-handed 1964 4001S FG Rickenbacker bass) , John Entwistle, George Harrison’s 12 String. Roger McGuinn 12 string and many others.
I have built pianos for “You name it”
just about everyone IE: “Pink Floyd” on “Dark Side Of The Moon”
It is our little contribution to Classic Rock.
I’m very proud of that fact.

@@AliasMark69 Wow, that's all totally unreal!!! I'll bet the two of you could sit down and recant for days. The closest my mom and I had pertaining to R&R was her yelling to "...turn that DOWN..." LOL The parents were listening to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, which was cool and all, until I heard Steppenwolf > Born To Be Wild in 67 or 68. My musical path was laid in stone from that point on. My real turning point was LIVE Black Sabbath in 70 and wondering what that crazy smell was coming from those cigarettes.

The best 2 songs on this album (IMO) are "Waiting so Long" and this classic. Sad Roger left the band after this record. I will say I am bias to Roger singing on the songs as opposed to rick. Sadly this is the last album I purchased from Supertramp. They were never the same after Roger left.

JM, if Supertramp - "The Tramp" doesn't become one of your all time favorite musical groups, I suggest you go see a Shrink, because something is seriously wrong with your brain. Just Kidding, we all know you're a very intelligent fella and know great music when you hear it..... Now go hear these.... "Crime Of The Century"... "Asylum".... "Bloody Well Right"... "Lady"... "Sister Moonshine"... "Dreamer"..."Give A Little Bit"... "From Now On"... "Fool's Overture"..."Take The Long Way Home"... so many more from this incredible band
