I do love it when you young ones discover these old tunes. Give us old folks hope for the future of music.
Same here 62 today
@@alandoust551 Happy birthday dude. It's fun to watch the youth discovering that we heard when it came out or sometimes live. Miss those days for sure.
Thanks man and yes I miss those days too.@@Buddha-of8fk
im an old guy but the funny thing is an older guy got me into Supertramp and that was my brother. Thank you Bill
It's a testament to music from the 60s to the 80s, it's timeless and can be appreciated by all ages and all generations. People will still be loving the Beatles or Pink Floyd in 50 years, not a single person will remember Taylor Swift or Nicki Minaj in 2074.
You know that when a song starts with just a piano and sax this is Supertramp at their best.
Happy 80th birthday today, to Rick Davies Supertramp 🎉 thanks for all the great music !! ❤
Supertramp only existed 10 years with this line-up, but what a legacy...
I must say though that the second songwriter and singer Rick Davies is a little bit under-represented in your channel and there are some really great songs from him you shouldn`t miss. "Rudy" might make you cry, "From now on" is simply awsome, "Crime of the century" really dramatic. But in the end, you can choose any song from this Band, you will never be disappointed. By the way, every time I'm a bit depressed or have some trouble, I watch your reaction to "The logical song" and feel better immediately. Thank you both for being who you are.
I agree completely. They must do 'From Now On' and 'Rudy'. Both absolute bangers!
Supertramp Oh Darlin is also GORGEOUS
Supertramp was certainly a house full of remarkable musicians! Fantastic!
You guys have to hit either Hide in Your Shell or Rudy next! They're Supertramp classics that need to be heard!
Much better. I grew up with them, have seen them in concert and have never heard this song more than twice now.
@@j.h.3777Famous Last Words was a definite downgrade from the previous four albums, this song being the best off the album. It's Raining Again and My Kind of Lady were the hits. This song is a very popular song, especially in non English speaking countries, and reminds me a lot of Crime of The Century, the song, with the piano and sax.
@@DonaldMainsDisagree, Waiting so long, Know who you are,Crazy.. there were worse albums when Roger split.
@@Suve35967I agree that after Roger left the albums weren't as good, but Famous Last Words is a big disappointment from the previous four albums.
@DonaldMains I don't know what you're talking about. All of their albums are excellent. Indelibly Stamped is the only one I'd probably say isn't great. But even that one has a few great tracks
I love how they love Supertramp, 10cc, Chicago, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons Project just as I do. I also love how bands in 2024 are drawing inspiration from that era to create beautiful new songs.
Wow had never heard this one before, what a song!
Supertramp has better deep cuts ( non-commercial hits ) than just about any band
@@reallymysterious4520True, they could easily justify a 4 cd box set, with Hodson's solo career highlights added in.
I haven't heard this one either!
I've always been a Supertramp fan. I don't know how I missed this song.
@@Faltor895 Yes - great solo stuff from him
One of the most incredible songs ever written. I still remember the very first time I heard it, back in 1983, I was stunned, totally speechless.
It is great, however 'Fool's Overture' is the absolute best.
@@JeanPierreWhite Yes, I've been waiting a long time for them to hear it. They'll love it.
@@JeanPierreWhite That and "Even in the Quietest Moments."
@@JeanPierreWhite definitely!! I’ve requested it already before (and also left it as a comment on this song) fingers crossed!
@@JeanPierreWhiteUnbelievable.
Also "Even in the quietest moments"
I listened to this song when I was homeless. It was my prayer to God ...
Hope all is better now brother....God is good to those that ask............
Even in the quietest moments , sister moonshine , fools overture , soapbox opera , lady . Still so many great songs from their golden era to be discovered .
Always glad when you do Supertramp. They are a treat for the ears. This song is full of clear sounds the go deep into me. My favorite period is the 35 amazing songs on 4 brilliant albums from '74-'79. Some suggestions for your next reactions are Rudy and If Everyone Was Listening from Crime Of The Century, Sister Moonshine from Crisis? What Crisis?, Even In The Quietest Moments and Fool's Overture from Even In The Quietest Moments and Child Of Vision from Breakfast In America. And then there are still more left to go.
What about I'm Beggin' You? 😄
If everyone was listening, classic so underrated..Rudy as well of course.
Also from Crisis What Crisis ? Another Man's Woman plus from lead singer Roger Hodgson's solo album - Had a Dream (Sleeping With the Enemy)
@@ursanator" Brother where you Bound,.".also good.
This album, "...Famous Last Words" was recorded up in Nevada City, CA., about an hour from Sacramento where I lived at the time. Roger had moved his family up there from L.A.. Sadly, this would be the last Supertramp album with Rodger.
Such an emotional song particularly because it was the last song of the last album with Rodger Hodgson in Supertramp…………..What a way to bow out!!!!
This song is very underrated.
From my experience with Supertramp, it goes like this...after hearing a new Supertramp song... "this may be my new favorite Supertramp song!". 😊
Love Supertramp! They were my group I'd listen to in my teenage years when I would just escape into my room and get lost in their music. My daughter and I got to see Roger Hodgson in concert in Michigan a few years back and his voice is just as incredible as it was from back in the day. I'm glad that my daughter got to witness this musical genius. It was a tremendous concert and one of the highlights of my life!
Great song! Another good one from them is "Sister Moonshine" but there are so many!
I would suggest "The Meaning" as their next song. An obscure tune that I think non Supertramp fans don't know about. It is imo a masterpiece of a song. This song or "Child of Vision" is highly recommended next.
I'm 63 years old and have been a crazed supertramp fan since the 70s. So glad to see the younger generations discover truly fantastic music. Enjoy watching your videos and thought you were going to have to shower after this one.
One of my all time fave from Supertramp, i zoomed in on Amber to make sure I’d catch her reaction when the sax comes in at the beginning! Amber, your reaction shows how much you’re into it.
Supertramp was my favourite band when I was in High School. I still love their music. "Take the Long Way Home" is my favourite song. The Breakfast in America album was so great.
It was also high school for me yeah
Same here, and after wearing out their back-to-back breakout albums (Crime of the Century & Breakfast in America) I went down to the used record store, bought all their earlier albums and fell in love even more! After the breakup I never really resonated with Supertramp anymore, but followed Roger's career and bought all his records... which sounded more "Supertramp" to me then the official band did without Hodgson. For me, Roger Hodgson had always been the soul of the group... and probably the reason for their success. Which is interesting since he wasn't a founding member.
I can't believe I've never heard this song before it was fun hearing it with you for the first time!!!❤❤ Loved it💖
Of the songs which I do not recall on your channel : -
1. Child Of Vision
2. Even In The Quietest Moments
3. Gone Hollywood
4. Rudy
5. Hide In Your Shell
6. From Now On
The TV has just shown pictures of Breakfast In America cover by councidence
(about 00:55am on 8th March on a show called 'The Art Of The Album Cover')
All very good songs. From Now On may be my favorite.
Just realised that this song is a little reminiscent of 'Mother Of Pearl' [Roxy Music].
Good song good reaction as always I like watching amber dance in her chair and Jay swaying to the music
I am so happy to see a reaction to this song. I have been requesting it since the beginning of the channel. I cried the first time I heard it, and it has stirred emotions every time I 've heard it since. If you don't react to the wailing of that sax, you are heartless. 😊😊
Next... Hide In Your Shell?
Supertramp has better deep cuts ( non-commercial hits ) than just about any band
Their deep cuts are generally better than the hits imo.
Can you name a few please 8:50
@@steveburyk3147Hide In Your Shell, Another Man’s Woman, Babaji, Gone Hollywood, Know Who You Are, Better Dsys, An Awful Thing to Waste…
Way back then a friend told me the best Supertramp music is the one that's playing right now.
Best Supertramp song ever ❤❤❤❤. "Don't Leave Me Now" is a piece of art in the last album of Supertramp with Roger Hodgson. Please do "Fool's Overture" next.
Fool's Overture is my fav,,,
History recalls.........
........how great the fall can be
While everybody's sleeping....
the boats put out to sea :)
Literally every song Supertramp recorded from Crime of the Century to Breakfast in America is a classic.
Supertramp were (are) beautiful
What a great song
This brings me back to when I bought this album, came straight home and lied down on the living room and listened to it though headphones
Awesome. You can't go wrong with Supertramp.
This has been my favorite Supertramp song (and Famous Last Words my favorite Supertramp album!) since it came out in the early 80s. Masterpiece. ❤
It's fun watching your two discover my favorite songs & bands. One of the things I'm struck by, watching you react, is how good the entire band is. I always focused on Roger & Rick, but Supertramp wouldn't be Supertramp without John Helliwell's horns. And the drums and bass are so good, too.
Hard to believe in all these years I haven't heard this one! They have such a large collection, actually 20 albums. It's like with ELO- they have a lot of material, and I haven't listened to all of it yet. Of course Zappa, with over 100 albums. I probably will never hear it all.
Your Supertramp favorite song will be "Fool's Overture" live in Paris 1979, when you guys react to it
🇬🇧 Not heard this one before. Really like it. Supertramp were packed full of fabulous musicians & wonderful songs. ❤🎼🎶
Love Supertramp and this song is fantastic. I've watched this reaction 3 times already.
I'd never heard this song before; Supertramp really let it hang out on this one. Thank you for the souls you are -- cheers! 🥂
Awesome tune!! Kind of reminds me of Pink Floyd..... Such talented musicians, they never cease to amaze you with ALL their licks...
Saw them in college during the Brother Where You Bound tour. Phenomenal concert. One song that stick out to me that you haven't yet listened to is Crime of the Century from the album of the same name. It's also mentioned lot in your comments.
I've been listening to Supertramp since the 90's as one of my favorite bands of all time. I've never heard this till now. Repetition in songs is important and the drum fills throughout did that along with many other aspects. Phenomenal!
Supertramp is THE feel good band
Supertramp: Gone Hollywood, Know Who You Are, Even in The Quietest Moments, Fool's Overture, so much more!
Far out, haven't heard this one before & I love it!
There are not many bands that connect directly to your heart and soul - Pink Floyd are one. These are certainly another. Magnificent!
Supertramp, Amazing
To me this was always the goodbye from Supertramp, what an amazing group.
Yup, it was their breakup album - and with Roger gone Supertramp was never the same and kinda lost their appeal, for me anyway.
Supertramp has been my FAVORITE group since I first heard their Even in the Quietest Moments album back in 1977 - been hooked ever since. You really (really) should check out some of Roger’s solo music after he left the band. Open the Door is a good album to start with.
Great you guys diving into the dark "Supertramp" pit, you never want to leave.🌹👍
Supertramp had a lot of great albums. This was my favorite. I know every word to every song. This came out when I went into the Air Force. Awesome memories!
It’s a masterpiece……. Amazing I se them in the 70s in Berlin!!!
They always have the best horn sections in their music.❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!! I love this song!!!!
The whole album "... famous last words" where this track is from was made under very difficult circumstances. Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies (the founders of the band, the songwriters and the two singers) had moved into different directions, not only musically but also personally, and Roger Hodgson once described the production as a "nightmare experience". I understand this song as Roger's cry for help against Rick to mentally "come back" to him. Since this effort wasn't successful he left Supertramp after having finihed the "... famous last words" tour. The harmonica in the end might have been intended to show the listeners that this album was the ending point of Supertramp in the constellation the audience had become used to, since their first very successful album "Crime Of The Century" began with a harmonica solo. So here the circle closed ...
I'm putting in a request for their song, 'Even in the Quietest Moments'. My favorite. So soulful, like this one but even mellower.
One of the best bands ever, so great live!💖💖💖
Their best song by a country mile..
Amazing!!!! Supertramp is so much underrated. Thank you guys reacting on them and there is so much more worth listening to
❤
Y'all make me really listen and appreciate music that I'd heard many times before on the radio. Thank you!
This was the last song Roger recorded with Supertramp. It's so strange that his song is about being left when he was the one who was leaving. I love this song so much. It breaks my heart.
I've been in love with Supertramp since I was a teen - and at 66 still my favourite group! I have this poster from the 80s - indeed Famous Last Words!
Magnificent!
I saw a Supertramp concert in 1979. It was the best concert I've ever been to. You should check out Roger Hodgson on TH-cam. He's been touring in the past few years and plays all of his songs that he wrote while with Supertramp. You can see the live stuff and see who's playing what and notice how many keyboards are on that stage. They are amazing.
"Child of Vision" from "Breakfast In America" should be next.
Wow!!! That hit!
Tremendous, powerful composition...and simple.
Kinda like a prayer.
I hate to say I told you so but....
Pink Floyd vibes or what....
I'm so glad you got around to it.
The next step is Brother Where You Bound. David Gilmore plays lead guitar for Supertramp on this one....
The whole song sounds like it should be on a Pink Floyd album somewhere. 🔥🔥
I’m surprised that no one says Took A Boat Sunday. To me that’s a brilliant simple love song. Beautiful lyrics. Beautiful piano.
Downstream gives you the feels.
I agree, simple but beautiful build up with Rick on piano.
Rick Davies doesn't get enough credit whenever Supertramp is mentioned....it's always Roger Hodgson.
Rick wrote most of the "harder" rock numbers, but hardly gets a mention.
Great vocalist and fantastic piano player, and he he came from Swindon (my home town), also Justin Hayward and XTC.
Oh! It IS called Downstream!! Thanks. I think of this as the bookend to Neil Young’s Harvest Moon.
My favorite Band ! SUPERTRAMP / ROGER HODGSON ! Uma de varias musicas historicas que quase nunca foram tocadas aqui no Brasil ! o Supertramp tem de ser descoberto !
Great reaction, guys. I love Supertramp!! I recommend the next amazing songs by them:
"Crime of the Century",
"Child of Vision"
"Even in the quietest moments."
"Fool's Overture"
"A Soapbox Opera" 😊❤❤
It's all right, this song makes me cry also. His music has a good message and his smoky smooth voice is so calming.
Very under rated album IMO, the last album with Roger Hodgson.
This is probably my favourite Supertramp composition musically layer after layer of beautiful music. To say Supertramp are a brilliant band is underating them.
Supertramp was just built different! 💯 In all the best possible ways. There is no other band quite like them. They created their own unique lane in the 70s and early 80s and just totally owned it. 👍
I know it is hard to say that this is my favorite song since most of them are but this one especially is my fav the way roger sings this this one
Please listen to even in the quietest moments. You will love it
Came here to say exactly the same❤
Had to dig deep in the comments to find recommendations for this song. YES!
I also haven't heard this before, great song by them, love the sax-Colin Ward
Roger Hodgson's bittersweet goodbye to Supertramp. A superb choice to close out his last album with them
I was way into Supertramp in the 70s, singles-wise. Never heard this track before. The saxophone just sings out . Really dramatic.
Hide in your Shell next please
Yes, Hide in Your Shell, and then From Now On
I always loved Supertramp ever since my older brothers introduced me to their Crime of the Century album. Try listening to the song Bloody Well Right, it's awesome!
Try "Child of Vision" next.
It is my favorite song for ever more.
Preferences are preferences but that being said, I'll just point that this is the best song in the world.
Such a good band. The sax is great. Very surreal soothing sound. It gave me Pink Floyd vibes. I do suggest "Rudy" next.
this band is Bloody well right. Not recognizing their talent is the Crime of the century, I am back to School, what a Dreamer! thank you for this moment :)
If this one is your favorite , please try Crime of the century.. you have to!
From this album "My Kinda Lady," and "Put On Your Old Brown Shoes" are other favorites from this. John Helliwell is among my favorite sax players I learned to play.
I don't recall this one, but it didn't stop me from enjoying it! 🎶❤️
Such an underrated album. One of my all time favorites.
I've seen "The Tramp" live 4 times. They are spectacular in every way. Rick is my favorite Piano player. John Is my favorite Sax player and Roger, Dougie and Bob are amazing at their talents. Only Pink Floyd I put over them for Live shows.
This is how they ended their show during the tour for this album, with the tight-rope walker moving slowly along the rope on the jumbo video screen while a hand with scissors slowly rises to cut right at the final reverbed snare. An amazing way to end a show. They DID do a bunch of encores though, which made it even better. 😉
Roger parece simplicemente vindo de um outro mundo, com écos estranhos para nós,como se fossemos trazídos aqui por força...
Great choice today. One of my favorites. Time to listen to Roger's solo work, it you like this.
P.S. My favorite Supertramp song of all time is Fools Overture, and I'm surprised it's not already on your list of Supertramp reactions. Highly recommend.
What a underrated album this is...cest le bon with Wilson sisters a gem
two words that will always describe Supertramp.....unique and different. Not in a bad way, but in a great way.
Yes! Unique is the word. Just like Hodgson's voice.❤
I like how you two awesome people, have so much patience in listening to all the songs you've never heard before, I really think that is great. And I get to hear all the music i love or forgot about some of it and realized,oh i remember loving this song LoL. Thanks for retracking my brain to a lot of the music you play ♥️🙏✝️✌️😎
I enjoyed listening to Supertramp on the radio growing up and was too damn poor to afford buying their albums, so it's a pleasure to hear some of these songs I'm not familiar with and look forward to discovering more.
