I love birds I built an aviary years ago. have raised canaries, zebra and society finches as well as English budgies and love birds. I don't have any birds at this time because I gave all my love birds to a good home as we like to travel and finding someone to bird sit wasn't working. That was fun meeting all your birds. What a darling bird room you have. I have a pair of Kakarikis, that I love. I also have 7 English Budgies. We have had a Yellow-Nape Amazon since he was 8 weeks old.. He is now 36 years old and still gets a lot of attention everyday.

My favourite are the cockatiels..I grew up with one, but the bird I fell in love with is the African greys..I saw one in a pet shop when I was a kid. It seemed soo expensive and I thought I wonder if I couldn’t ever own one of those. Turns out I have a 3 year old Congo grey male named Albion. He is very naughty and into everything and sooo funny. Birds have the best sense of humour in the animal kingdom. Your birds are beautiful, you are very lucky.
Good for you! I have a very similar experience with a Blue Quaker. I am picking up my baby blue Quaker tomorrow. who is a sibling of a green Quaker I was able to get. Well turns out my breeder is awesome and gives heavy discount for repeat buyer! My mother had a grey. I understand why you love them. It is funny how we want what we don’t have. I never thought I could be the owner of a Quaker much less two. Oh and I recently got a rescue of sorts. She’s is a pineapple GCC. Bless you all and your flock.

As of now, I only have an African Lovebird under my care, and he/she was being hand tamed/fed. I am the only one of my family who love's birds.

I love them all but I am partial to the Bourkes, budgies and lovebird. I mostly have budgies and bourkes now. They are all so pretty.

Hi, thank you. I have plastic mats on the floor that I mop when dirty. They mostly poop above the cages on the plastic that I have on top of the cages. I wipe the plastic once a week or more often. I vacuum alot also

I’ll add my bird room cleaning tips here too just cuz education in the bird community & answering questions about bird care is something most of us #ParrotTubers really believe in! I’m passionate about it.
Here’s what we do. Some of these ideas came from grams when we moved & needed new ways to clean & organize & such cuz we had adopted a cockatoo (& they can be messy, but also our first bigger parrot)
Roomba! I’m a firm believe that Roomba’s make a parront’s life easier. LOVE IT! Thanks grams (last Xmas, lol).
Dog kennel liners & plastic tarps for floor! Under ea cage we place super sized plastic dog kennel liners that have lips around the edges to catch debris... cuz we also have a parrot ball pit (it went viral as the first ever! Fans loved it) this ball pit also helps keep debris in cuz they can forage in that bin & it’s easy to empty.
These dog kennel liners are like $25-30 on Amazon. We have 2 big ones we can just hose down in bathroom when needed. It catches poop, seed, pellets.
Air purifiers in each room. But don’t use the ion setting (which mass dust in air fall easier to ground to be vacuumed up, except it’s not good for birds).
News paper on top of cage bottom bars instead of under or in catch pan. Saves time not having to scrub the bars daily.
We don’t use Poop Off anymore for cage cleaning as we noticed, not only does it melt dried poop for easier removal but seems to do the same to powder coating on cage bars over time and u’ll have to replace the cage sooner. Vinegar water works well along with a dishes scrub brush. We want an electric one eventually but a hard bristle dish scrubber works well. U can just sanitize them weekly in the dishwasher in their own cycle, for easy cleaning.
Hand held vacuums help for spot cleaning.
We now only feed seed in foraging packs or little reused cardboard boxes (we find ziploc boxes & granola bar or tea boxes are perfect size for small to medium bird’s. We wrap seeds in 1/2 sheets of paper towels & make up a bunch for the whole week for foraging games, training, keeping them busy foraging. They each get 2-4 per day as snacks and since they can hold these little paper packs easily in their claws, we find less debris spills from bowls onto floors. They just drop the paper wrap onto their cage newspapers when done for easier cleanup.
Misting/baths with 75% distilled water & 25% aloe juice for shiny feathers and helping to control dust from their skin and molts. We do this 1-2x per week. More like 2x per wk with our cockatoo or dusty species.
Keep a wooden small play gym on top of cage as u see in this video, as they catch debris too.
Make sure food and water bowls are always stationed over cage newspapers.

How do you train the parakeets mine don’t like being touched
i keep trying and trying and i even have babies fixing to come out of nest box ughhh they are so hard i think the only way is to feed them and i can't do that b/c i work
Most birds don't like to be touched. Try holding spray millet in your hands and they may come and eat it and sit on your hand. Don't touch them as they will loose trust in you. Only use spray millet for training and taming, never put it in the cage.
