After watching EVO top 24, yes Dragunov definitely deserves to be in a tier of his own. 50% of the Top 6 players at the biggest TEKKEN tournament of all time are playing Dragunov. There were 9 out the top 24 players at EVO that played Dragunov.
I lost count of the amount of Dragunov mirror matches during the end of the tournament and thats not including the matches that were off stream (for example, Ulsan v LowHigh was also a Dragunov mirror).
Its so insane lmao. Like idk what else you could do to him without being necessary to overhaul his full moveset. Every T8 aspect is perfect tailored for Dragunov. Everything simply works to his favor regardless nerfs or buffs.

Yup, i watch him ocassionally since a few years because it can be entertaining, but he repeats himself so often that by now i know what he is gonna say. Almost if he likes hearing himself talk. TMM gives quick thoughts on a tier list that the GOAT of tekken compiled after in depth thought and explanation. What is the point and where is the value? Its arrogant.
To Lee: FF3 that's just a heat engager that everybody has, everything that lee has somebody else does it better and/or less risky. He is good but without something in heat (and heat is obviously the meta lmao) it's super difficult to constantly win with him
ff3 has insane tracking and insane reach, when lee's in heat you cant step anywhere since his ff3 will always hit for a full combo into his stupid wall combos. On top of that you have b33 to lock anyone down into a mix up and a while running move that needs to be sidewalked and not sidestepped. If you genuinely find it consistently difficult to win with him, you might need to consider a different game
@@Mhashim118 Wow that's a whole 3 tools you listed right there with their own holes and counter play (i.e. just block or crouch). Surely his lack of a real pressure game or ability to deal with oncoming pressure himself in a way more aggressive Tekken or lack of real utility in Heat outside of trying to land ff3 specifically to get a heat dash combo won't stop him from performing as well as half the cast who are very unga bunga and brain dead b comparison.
Sarcasm aside, he's not the weakest character by a mile but to tell someone "you might need to consider a different game'" if they have trouble winning with him as if Lee is just free wins is unbelievably dumb, dude. I think you just find him annoying and are a bit salty about it lol

Kazuyas ff2 in heat is the move with insane tracking Lee’s can actually be sidestepped(like his whole movement except his homing moves) I win a lot online but if lee is so insane then pick him up and play him

Lee’s tracking is terrible. He loses to sidestep left and his b33 pressure isn’t even real. You can easily sidestep ff3. His just frame slide is useless. His slide gets launched for a full combo since he stays grounded unlike Law/Shaheen. Law is literally a better version of Lee. His heat is trash. The only threatening mid he has his ff3 in heat and that’s not saying much.
I think he only has ff3 and his wr combo conversion in heat because his combo damage is doubled if he heat dashes to a wall which he has no difficulty doing. And he gets just frames everytime, which doesnt effect high level players but helps scrubs. His heat has different utility than spam the same move or do my broken heat smash, but lee is still really good, no?

the reason Arslan placed steve and paul so high is because of strong players like Numan Ch and Heera who always annoy him with their skills .

Lee's heat is awful. It revolves around ws2 3 and ff3, a -13 string and a very easily steppable mid: most of Lee's moveset can be stepped. The heat return gimmick is garbage because all the safe just frames you'd spam to get it back are linear highs.
Nobody is spacing slide to make it safe; that just doesn't happen reliably. His slide is 10x worse than Law's or Shaheen's and gives a true launch now rather than a float.
I'm so tired of people acting like b3 3 is some ridiculously oppressive move. Lee has no dangerous, safe mids besides maybe ff3 that you can't risk ducking, and if you duck b3 3, you just died because it's a free launch. Hell, ImYourFather doesn't even do b3 3 much anymore as a full string; he does b3 and then ff4 because if they block b3, he doesn't die trying to get a little damage and a few frames. This move is not the old Hwo d3 4 by even a close margine. Stop acting like it is.
Magic 4 is a triple high string that's death if ducked; most top Lee players use 4 3 4, the last hit being steppable, or 4 3 3.
Wr3 4 is still easily stepped and doesn't even give that many plus frames. So tell me, in a game of offense where everyone has situations that force mixups, how is Lee so good when his defensive tools aren't applicable in so many scenarios?
Tldr: TMM has a very uninformed perception of Lee and can't get his mind off of inconsequential things that don't change the character fundamentally.

45:00 Lee's biggest strength is his punishment, he only has b33 to open turtles which is launch punishable, every single just frame is a high, his "amazing" 10f punish requires a high level of execution especially online , his reset at the wall although strong easily avoidable, his heat stuff is terrible compared to the other characters in the game ff3 is a i14 launcher which is good but Paul has a i13 heat launcher and he already deals huge damage
Lee's slide is shit even though it's safe from long range there is no knockdown no oki no pressure meaning slide mix ups are underwhelming his powercrush is a high with no range. His heat smash takes a year to come out and doesn't even wallsplat. WS2,3 into bound is one of the few moves Lee has to mess up somebody.
In Tekken 8 Lee lacks the tools to play aggressively which is the whole theme of the game, to win as Lee you have to be the better player you need to consistently outsmart your opponent and be knowledgeable on a variety of characters from much lower ranks while the rest of the cast can just force you to deal with their shit 24/7 I would love to know what make Lee such a strong character

I would't say he completely lacks the tools to play aggressively, he has them but they aren't as good as other characters and he takes risks on offense, which for a character that's meant to be more defensive I think that's fine. His heat is ass tho, yeah ff3 has crazy range but it's linear and his whole heat gimmick is useless.

You can't with a straight face say that just because Lee's linear af ff3 heat dash launches makes Lee's heat good lol. He's got the worst Heat in the entire game bar none and heat being a huge mechanic in Tekken 8, that's massive weakness. Just because he does a lot of damage, doesn't mean shit when half the cast is easier than he is and they do about the same. He is probably one of the most linear characters in this game, with slow af homing moves on top of that as well.

@@jasonkennedy6844 it doesn't lose to HMS1+2, SSR duck is the ultimate option select if he transitions into HMS after D3 or 1+2. The only way HMS1+2 catches an opponent trying to option select is when he transitions into HMS after wr3,4 which gives him +6 on block. Even then, people ssr and block to make him lose his turn and slightly move to his weak side.
I guess for this Tier list, Arslan thinks of Usable Moves that you would use on Tourneys. Drag also works best with the whole T8 playstyle plus the Heat System against most Characters.
For Jin and Feng, since you need to use so many more moves to be efficient Tourney wise, he sets it to S only.
Quit playing Yoshi for a bit for this reason, and have moved to Lee. I love my spinny sword boi but he is overtuned right now, and it makes the victories a bit less meaningful as a result. Really want to play a powerful defensive character, albeit with executions difficult enough to make the wins feel earned. It’s a completely different kind of Tekken, but I’m hoping it’ll make me a better player in a general sense, at least in the long run.

Everytime a character needs to be demonized TMM's fans do what they do best. Compare the character to Kazuya. "Jin is good because 2 more Jin mains got into top 32 while Kazuya only has Keisuke doiiii" says the most sane TMM fan. Why do other characters have to suffer just because you decide to play something that you consider to be handicapped?

You know what I think is the worst thing about Jin? His play rate. I have recently started logging my matchups in an Excel sheet because I thought it was just me having bad memory But after 25 games, I matched him 6 times. SIX TIMES! That's just crazy to me.

It's simple, Lee has the absolute worst heat in the game, is linear outside of jhis tracking move, haas no string mixups, no throwgame, his main lows are launch punishable, his df2 has abysmal range compared to the top tiers, his movement is probably bottom 30 % and his slide is the weakest one in the game, thus he's low.

I dont get why are you so confused about this tierlist? You do realise this is Arslan's tierlist, meaning how HE perceives characters when he faces them. So its purely subjective based on his own strengths and experience when playing other pros. A guy in ranked can find 50 problems with Howrang listing all the shit he has, but Arslan is like that doesn't bother me, so he places him all the way down. Whenever a tekken pro publishes a tierlist, its reflection of what they find problematic or not, rather than creating an objective list that applies to everyone.
I don’t think there is a true objective tier list. There should be a casual tier list and a pro tier list.

You need to watch FightingGM's review of Arslan's tier list, specifically what he had to say about Arslan's thoughts on Lee. He pretty much agreed with him and his placement of Lee. As a Lee player myself, I have to agree as well. He's easy to step unless he uses 1+2 which is a slow move btw and susceptible to counter hits. And he has basically no heat gimmick, his just frame moves are mostly highs that you can't really spam in heat so all it does is make ff3 a launcher.
Saying he's bottom 3 might be an exaggeration but he's barely mid tier at best.

@@Omar12521 That's why I said that calling him bottom 3 is probably a stretch. I'd say he's more like mid tier. But a lot of people say he's like top 10 or something which is bullshit. I'll say this again, you don't realise this unless you play him but it actually feels like you're playing T7 with him because his heat really doesn't give him anything except the ws 2,3 combo, FF3 heat dash and guaranteed just frames (which isn't anything special since they're all basically highs). Having good heat or a strong gimmick in heat is a major factor in this game, there's so many characters who are busted because of it (like Xiaoyu). Raven is another example of this, outside heat, he's actually really mediocre but his clone moves being -3 and spammable on block in heat makes him decent.

steve is a good character. people downplay him like crazy
yes his punish aint that good and he has range problems (sonic fang excluded)+non existing oki haha but his dmg is above average and at the wall he is a crazy monster db32 becomes op b2 is suddenly a 50+ dmg launcher and his fast ext dck entry is giga oppressive and he can nearly always get a full combo even at the wall bc 311 has that crazy angle change.

Yes T8 is heavily tailored to be aggressive, which fits Drag perfectly, but calling the veterans cheap for using Drag in EVO is just pure BS, when the same people who used Drag in top 6 have played Drag to an extent WAAAY before T8, especially Nobi. Get a grip. He may be extremely strong, but that should never discredit the players who got solid placements in Evo. Snowflakes.

Well balanced means that everything is very comparable. That means that nothing should qualify as "dumb AF"
I mean, both can be true. Just cause its balanced doesn't make characters not annoying, especially in a game like Tekken, despite homogenization, each character is unique enough with different moves thats its less about the overall and more so specific moves or playstyles that are just annoying.

Im a mighty ruler noob that barely plays this game thanks to sf6 and even i know dragunov is op, just went online today for the first time in months and whenever i came up against dragunovs i could feel the ridiculous power
The new Victor combos are better in practice mode In actual matches the wallcarry is so unflexible and just too much carry I end up dropping them most of the time due to spacing.
I still do old combos because on real matches when you have to adjust the carry it's more damage than his new "better" combos. So what that I get 15 damage more on infinite stage if there's no infinites and his carry is insane even without them.
Add in his stances are all unsafe if it was blocked and you got a recipe to a disaster. They think you can rush his stance but aside from running 2, whenever you enter a stance you can disrespect it if you blocked. Even running 2 if he doesn't follow up with immediately 1 then you can actually counter him. So what is the point of a stance character if you cannot enter the stance safely? And most of his combos will drop near the wall, literally loses you games. Now I understood why high level players Stop using different combos with him since they will drop and get you punished heavily.
As a Lee Main myself i don't use Lee's heat at all. I hate the Heat System in General. But the problem that i have with heat is when my opponent uses it on me. Once i see someone in heatmode i stop attacking and play defense and try to wait til the heat runs out.

Reina doesn't have a single person playing her in evo top 32 and has pretty much 0 results offline and online but somehow reina is still god tier according to TMM
The thing about Reina is that she is the Shulk from Smash Bros of Tekken 8. Shulk is in theory the best character in the game because his Monado Sword literally allows him to cheat, but the skill required to actually operate him at his full potential is so incredibly high that it takes almost TAS levels of execution. Reina is not quite that extreme but is still the same concept, the character has the tools to be the best, but it takes way too much work and effort to do so, while Jin takes 1/10 of that effort to pilot and provides you with better results anyways.
