My friend and I went to the Sands in '66, and wanted to see the "Chairman of the Board," who was performing. Ya couldn't get near the place. He said, "follow me!" We went around to the rear entrance, in through the kitchen of the Sands, and right into the room where old blue eyes was singing!! We stood at the back of the room for his whole performance. It was great! Different times, for sure!! Thanks, Frank! RIP
The Sands Copa Room, I finally made it there in early Sept 79 to a Dinner Show & Walter Cronkite was seated at the adjacent dinner table next to mine... 'An indelible Sept evening'...
Is there ever a possibility to go back? No, I doubt it very much. Not liking this present world so much. Wish I could go back to the comfort zone of my youth, when Frank, my mom, and so many others were alive and vibrant. Never thought I would develop a deep appreciation for Mr. Sinatra's music/style, but that's all due to my mom.
Oh yeah? I'm but a mere twinkle in the eye of my mother (currently in the early embryonic stages of develop inside my grandmother), and I love this. Believe it or not her eye has great internet.
Live, in a supper club, no intrusive mike, making his moves, clicking those fingers, probably some heavyweights in the audience, and he's in rare form, knowing how good he is.
The Voice at his very best. At the very peak of his powers, he was unbeatable. And that suit! Frank must have been poured into it. Not a wrinkle anywhere. Mr.Swing Easy at his most flawless.
Oh Frank , if only you were still alive making wonderful classics that nobody can forget. I'm 19 and this song is just perfect 💕 much love wish I was born in that era
Man, what I'd do to go back in time to watch him perform. It's tough growing up as a teenager an having to listen to all the garbage that's being made in the music world. Frank sinatra was truly a blessing to the world. Long live his wonderful music!
This is quality music. Rich instrumental, rich vocal. Sinatra died less than two years before I was born, but through his music I can discover his era of living and appreciate the comforts of today. Stunning art!
Hi guys! When I read your comments; specially those that are so young and you express yourselves this wonderful about Frank and His Music it really makes me believe that humanity is not lost after all. Excellent taste in music!! Congratsss!!!
In the early Fifties Frank Sinatra was the first to put together meaningful albums such as Swinging Lovers or Only the Lonely. Coming out of the world of singles , no one knew exactly how to construct a twelve - song album that worked as a whole. Sinatra excelled at putting together a group of songs from a variety of sources with arrangements that created a mood : sad to the point of being maudlin on No One Cares , which came out in 1957 , upbeat to the point of cockiness on Come Fly with Me. It’s crazy to think that no one really understood how to put together a music album, but that’s the thing about treading on new waters! So for any artist out there wanting to create something new, just think, within the last century, the music album was a new invention.
James Gatz Disagree big time. Nothing in today's society (many women acting like sluts, ghetto life, online trolling, majority of people having bad fashion sense, modern celebrities like Justin Bieber or Kim Kardashian, decline in music quality , Bronies, stupid fads like Gangnam Style and Twerking....to name A FEW things) will cause future generations to say we had class. Unless you think that society will deteriorate even more (we'll turn into cavemen and cavewomen), lol....
Great! Thank you for the information. Have been performing this song lately, first of all on an exhibition called Come Fly With Me, and poeople really like it.
my family and I absolutely adore singers like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and others like them... the music they produced just gives you chills and makes you feel happy. it's a beautiful feeling. I'm 14, and enjoy the music of today, more towards rock and punk, yet jazz holds such a special place in my heart cause that's what I grew up with
This was just the norm, just another Saturday night for people back in those days . The outfits, the hair, the live band. It was just what happened. We don’t even understand how much we’ve lost in life, no flavor or special moments like these whatsoever

Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away If you could use some exotic booze There's a bar in far Bombay Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away Come fly with me, let's float down to Peru In llama-land there's a one-man band And he'll toot his flute for you Come fly with me, let's take off in the blue Once I get you up there Where the air is rarefied We'll just glide Starry-eyed Once I get you up there I'll be holding you so near You may hear Angels cheer, 'cause we're together Weather-wise, it's such a lovely day Just say the words and we'll beat the birds Back to Acapulco Bay It is perfect for a flying honeymoon, they say Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away Once I get you up there Where the air is rarefied We'll just glide Starry-eyed Once I get you up there I'll be holding you so near You may hear Angels cheer, 'cause we're together Weather-wise, it's such a lovely day If you say the word, we will beat those birds Back to Acapulco Bay It is perfect for a flying honeymoon, they say Come fly with me, let's fly Pack up, let's fly away
I'm estimating that this performance was filmed for a television appearance in 1958 or 1959. I don't believe that Sinatra released the "Come Fly With Me" album on Capitol Records until that time frame, and Sinatra's slender stature and his hairpiece also suggest the late 50s. Sinatra had probably completed filming "The Joker Is Wild" and "Some Came Running" and was about to film "Never So Few".
+Jit Chakraborty Just because artists dressed up in suits and had bands doesn't make the industry at the time classy. Parts of the industry were shit even back in the "golden era".
+Tammy Watts It might have been normal (can't say I know of any metric to cite but rather go on intuitive feeling that many artists struggle with some form of addiction). But that no one cared? Sinatra is just a few decades out from the end of Prohibition. It's not like people suddenly thought alcoholism was fine. I'm sure he didn't publicize the fact he was a boozer either. And either way, can't say alcoholism and womanizing was classy, even if "no one cared".
The richest voice, the best phrasing, all that charisma -- there was none better, nope.
No wonder, he got his teaching lessons from Billie Holiday!
Perfectly put
Perfectly said...
I wish more young people would realize how fantastic and unique Sinatra's voice was........no one today compares.
I’m 15 and I always get made fun of for liking Sinatra and other artists like nat king Cole 🙄 they don’t understand how talented they were
young people do understand and some of them are also trying to keep his legacy alive,
Michael Buble comes close.

I had a table close to the stage at the Sands in ‘66. Frank and the Basie band were incredible. I think I’m still paying for it…$$$$

Wow . . . This was from 1958. Classic and forever endearing and relevant!
A classic performed by the master, and written by the brilliant genius of Jimmy Van Heusen/Sammy Cahn. It just doesn’t get any better than this!!!
Frank is at his peak here its sheer adrenaline great singing the best.
I was born in the wrong generation. I am 3 months old and love Frank Sinatra.

Frank sang "come fly with me, let's flow down to Peru", holy holy ..., that's my country, the most beautiful place in the whole world
He did it so effortlessly
The best
Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away
If you could use some exotic booze
There's a bar in far Bombay
Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away
Come fly with me, let's float down to Peru
In llama-land there's a one-man band
And he'll toot his flute for you
Come fly with me, let's take off in the blue
Once I get you up there
Where the air is rarefied
We'll just glide
Starry-eyed
Once I get you up there
I'll be holding you so near
You may hear
Angels cheer, 'cause we're together
Weather-wise, it's such a lovely day
Just say the words and we'll beat the birds
Back to Acapulco Bay
It is perfect for a flying honeymoon, they say
Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away
Once I get you up there
Where the air is rarefied
We'll just glide
Starry-eyed
Once I get you up there
I'll be holding you so near
You may hear
Angels cheer, 'cause we're together
Weather-wise, it's such a lovely day
If you say the word, we will beat those birds
