I made a silly mistake at 12:21, I didn't actually manage to penetrate the IS-3 and read the damage from the AMX 30. Very surprised by that bounce! Also shortly after I called the AMX 30 a Leopard instead which was my ally in front not the enemy :)

well they did go crazy with tank designs and with a nation that big a lot were designed. Germany only had what 4 years of actual design. America had the stupid rule of not making tank designs till they are needed Britain kinda could not France lost really fast Italy sucked at tank designs. Japan didn't care about their armor division and gave almost no funding.

Tempest374 The IS3 is an OP tier 8, and this thing is, in my opinion better, because both are brawlers anyway. Therefore the better DPM is worth more than the better aim (also hand of stalin XD). Not to mention the lck of two minor weakspots on the turret.

Hmmmm....interesting, I mean the lack of a loader trainer makes this not ideal or really worth purchasing since the IS-7 and IS-4 have 3 loaders between them.
QuickyBabyTV you actually are wrong about the APCR dropoff. When APCR is standard ammo for a vehicle, it doesn't get an increased dropoff over distance when compared to AP. T71, Bulldog, this tank, and tier 10 mediums with APCR standard have the same dropoff over distance as other vehicles with AP as standard ammo.
+Psuffix can you link a source for this, is a very interesting idea that there's "premium APCR" and "standard APCR" that have different mechanics.
+QuickyBabyTV I remember something showing tables of the dropoff values when WG wanted to nerf the high tier medium gun penetrations. On top of the base penetration they were also planning on increase the dropoff massively since it barely has an effect in the current mechanics.

Psuffix Interesting... so the APCR of IS-3A actually does get the same penetration drop as AP, BUT it also seems like the premium APCR on normal Soviet 122 guns gets an even lower penetration drop! #SovietLogic

It is less accurate and has higher dispersion all across the board. I foresee many noobs missing shots.
The gun is worse in my eyes. The extra time you need to aim and the occasional miss/bounce because of the much worse accuracy completely eats up that extra DPM.
I still think IS-6 looks way better since it gets preferential MM.

Although lots of people are trying to be funny "WG stoopid another OP Russian tank"... I agree with you QB, the IS-3 just does seem better with the IS-3A's drawbacks, but that doesn't make it a bad tank at all.
Hey QuickyBaby... first thanks for you videos... I watch them all the time. Second, I LOVE the IS-3... please tell me this vehicle is still able to be obtained? This is the first I have heard of it... only been playing for about a year (if that).
As if there weren't enough IS3s in game, now we get a lot more of them. Tier 7 and 8 mm will be fun... Luckily i don't play tier 7 and 8 anymore but i don't think that this tank is good for the game it will be type59 all over again. But i think since WG realize that their game is losing popularity they are only trying to make the most money they can before the game dies, it's not the best policy in my opinion but ok...
It doesnt really make alot of credits especially without premium two of your games were that u shoed us were only 40 k and the other one was 50k or 80k out of 4 games it doesnt really seem like the credit profit is as good as other premium tanks cant lie it is a beast besides the aiming time and accuracy it just doesnt seem like it makes enough credits without premium time which i cant afford everymonth or every year lol

Looks like to gunner was so pisses cuz Boris the loader was fired, he decided to not aim the gun like it shoud do. Or the gunner was send to gulag and this tank got a new n00b gunner
QB, you should have mentioned that just because something is called autoloader automatically has a drum magazin. Drum magazin isnt autoloading. Its actually loaded by humans, thats why the reload for each magazin takes a long while so the drum magazin can unload. Autoloader means that the gun reloads with a machine and without human help. But it doesnt mean the gun gets a drum magazin! This is what many people irritats
Well, the biggest plus of the IS-3A is that it is based on and is very similar to a tank that was recently stupidly overbuffed, the IS-3.
So, first of all it shows how strong it's going to be.
Remember the IS-5, it has shit gun handling too but it is doing fine.
And being a premium means that even if they someday nerf the monstrosity that the IS-3 is they will not be touching this.
So we have the battlefields infested by the new KV-1S, this time in tier 8, the IS-3, now we are going to have even more of those.
And should you choose to move up to tier 10 to steer clear of them and be able to wreck them with ease, the E5 awaits you to rape you, regardless of how noob it's driver is.
So either get raped or join the party and get one.
Meanwhile, on other news, Tiger 2 drivers joined in a protest in Moscow against heavy police forces...

Of course players like Quickfingers and Ship_the_nutz are going to make this tank look like it's worth $50+. The fact of the matter is that it's only an IS-3. It gains rate of fire by trading off mobility. Since APCR gets less normalization than standard AP, it's not necessarily a better gun. With a 100% loader, BIA, and a gun rammer on my IS-3, all I have to do to get my DPM close to matching the $50 "pay to win noob magnet" is sacrifice a consumable for the extra rations.

It looks good and I perhaps I would have bought it if not for the capital controls, but I think I would still prefer my Panther 8.8.
I have the IS-6, and that only has a 4.71 RPM and 175mm pen with AP standard ammo and 217mm APCR premium pen. WG, can I please trade in my IS-6 for the IS-3A? I'll even throw in 3000 gold! :P

IS-3A looks very stronk (soviet tank, of course). One thing, that bothers me the most about it is the crew of only three men. It will be problem to train regular IS-3 crew in it :(
Wow, thank you Wargaming for making my IS-6 look like absolute shit now. Quite unfair to put a much much better tank for almost the same price in the game right now. :(
there is something similar in Blitz. but according to the XML files it got a 3 shot autoloader, 25 sec reload, 0.4 dispersion..... why....

+Andy Olarra He knows what an autoloader is. This does not have an autoloader in the sense we'd all normally think, like a French tank. The autoloader is just basically a ready rack that feeds itself into the gun to save space and remove the loader from the crew. The IS-7 also has this (even though the IS-7 has two loaders for some odd reason), and if we had modern tanks the T-72 would act the same way.
i'll probably be skipping this one, can't train heavy crews and it's not really that different from an is-3. think i'll grab an is-6 before they remove it instead.
i dont get these premium tank's these day's, copy and give it a good gun but slower. i guess it's still worth it compared to many premium tank's... took a few hit's there, but u went out all noob in the end, i used to do that the odd occation tbh. lol

It does have an autoloader, an automated loading system to replace the loader. What we call autoloaders in WoT are drum loaded vehicles, which I guess are also technically autoloaders, but a different kind. AMX 13 90 for example needed the magazines reloaded by the entire crew, outside the vehicle. This thing just has one big magazine.
"To improve the rate of fire, the students of the BTV academy (Military Armored Forces Academy) came with a novel solution - to install 2 two-layer pistol-style magazines into various heavy tanks, including the IS-3. The magazines served as ammo racks (they were not loaded extra) and were operated electrically (using hydraulics). One magazine contained HE shells, one contained AP shells."

This honestly doesn't make that much extra in terms of credits.
I mean its still a premium IS-3 but the credit multiplier on this is terrible. A 3k game in the T34 will net 110k on its own.
4k for 130k and 5k for 150k usually. You don't usually get to use the DPM on any tank so its completely balanced with the T34's surprisingly better gun handling. It's got more alpha, more pen, better accuracy and just more reliability.
Still a great buy! Definitely a step in the right direction if we're getting rid of +1 / -1

Was this tank nerfed or something .. i don't see anything good in this tank .. i'm for sure not a total noob (at the moment 2100 WN8 and 3300 30-days) but this tank or at least this gun is the biggest piece of shit i ever saw ... this tank is only good for 2 things .. missing the target even on 100m or detrack the enemies .. because 7 times out of 10 you detrack without dmg ... unimportant on which part of the tank you fully aim.

For some reason, when i play tiers 8 - 10 even with my light tanks i always go for IS3's as a juicy profit candy. Very easy to penetrate even if its angled - IS3 is simply a shit tank. Especially if you get tier 10 match - you fall behind heavys and absolutely sure behind same or higher tier mediums and lights. ScorpionG will simply dismantle this IS3 and IS3A, what to say about Grille 15 or any medium tanks for that matter.
I want this tank but just cannot afford it! This tank is 49.99 Euros which makes it the most expensive tank on the European server. I really think you should/could put a players health warning on some tanks and this is one of them. New players to WOT should not make this one of their first buys. Not only will they fail miserably but they will screw up who ever joins the Random Team with them. This kind of warning needs to be posted more often. I love my premium tanks but the number of fails I have experienced because too many players buy their way into a game then screw it up for their teams. And it's not just Premium. How many players have watched scouts hiding on the map back line? Join a Clan should be a big ProMo priority here to! Nuff Said and thanks for another great video!
When are they going to add the Improved Panzer III, it had a bigger turret ring to handle a I think to handle 7.5 cm long gun that's on the Panzer IV model H, it was on Blueprints never build because the Panzer IV could just be the primary tank to us the 7.5 cm gun! but please ask wargaming about it!? !\>.
I'm on the NA server and picked one up already. I got a lot of " What is an IS-3A?" Questions. And is it any good? And I have to say that I Love it. It is an IS-3, one of my favorite tanks. Armor is great, and the gun reload time (especially with a rammer, vert stab and vents for now at least as that may change to gun laying drive) is significantly better, in feel at least. But the aim time feels even worse than it looks on paper. I'm used to the regular IS-3 and the slow aim time and the weak engine really are noticeable. But they balance the improvements quite well. I'm happy I bought it and even happier now that you, QuickyBaby, gave it a positive review.
I don't think this tank is that competitive comparing to the wz111, because wz gets pref MM and has basically the same gun handling towards IS-3A, even though its penetration is poor, but with a lot better speed limit. Which means if you platoon with another 2 skilled wz111 you will have a pretty good win ratio, also means you can make more credits in the long term. My wz has 73% win ratio over 150 battles, half of it was platooned, I think it will be higher if you platoon more....op gg need nerf
Honestly QB isn't even constantly shooting thus not fully using the dpm since he is mostly still aiming while the shell is already loaded. In this case an IS-3 might have even performed way better (apart from creditgain). Also the APCR ammo is deceptice, in close quaters AP with similiar penetration is SOOO much better due to the better normalization.
The weakspot on top of the turret isn't nearly as bad:
It is sloped back a little bit further, meaning you can't even see it if the IS-3 is even a tiny bit higher than you. It also lacks the cupolas.
What I figure though:
It's more of a true heavy tank, rather than the Hybrid heavy/medium brawler the IS-3 is.
More like a 110 really.
Very nicely done review. While the IS-3A looks like a very nice premium tank to own, with the lack of preferential mm, I'll be skipping it. I'm at 79% +2 mm in my T34 which is stupid high and it's very hard to make consistently decent credits when forced into Tier X mm so much.
I feel like a lot of people will complain that it's overpowered, at the very least. Accuracy problems just mean RNG has a greater role, and if RNG smiles upon you with your boosted dpm, you'll be more effective than the standard is3.
Which means WG will probably buff regular is3 :P
Pique interest of tier 8 game modes. No crew trainer. Most tanks at tier 8 have similar/better pen. DPM is gnarly for a durable heavy. I don't like the addition of it. Reverse side scrape with magical spaced side armor (that never existed, even tank tour guides at tank museums will open it up and show you). GJ Wargaming, cash flow.
It's an IS3 with a worse gun and 1 less crew member. It's just a poorman' IS3 without pref mm which is definitely not worth it. If you're going for crew training and credit grinding pick IS6 over IS3a any day of the week. Pref mm on IS6 makes pubstomping a charm :)
Good for grinding credits in skirmish if you don't have an IS-5 since you don't need prem to pen the IS-3 unlike the 175 pen tanks.
Not so good for randoms, because no special MM. Rather sealclub with IS-6.
Please give me a suggestion, is it worth to get this is-3A if I have had a is-6 already. Also, would it be a better credit maker than FCM 50T , considering it is lacked of preferential matchmaking? I am both good at IS-3 and medium tanks, feeling struggled right now
QB,I know 'm late on this vid,and you probably won't see this comment,but if you do let me tell you something.I feel that this tank is made for new player,and that with standard is 3(when in right hands)you can do as much.Yeah,yeah I know fire rate and all that,but I don't just think its worth it!The only reason I would buy it for would be credits.I'm still thinking about it...

I honestly would prefer that WG just made prem tanks as good as normal tanks (maybe lower earning potential a little) it would solve all the preferential mm problems. Mix this with a buying cap (can only buy a prem tank 2 tiers higher than your highest tank for example) and I for one would be ok with that(I have just about given up hope they will sort out prem shells my no 1 bugbear).

It's...okay. Not great, not bad. A nice little compliment to the garage. And since it's still half off training, I didn't feel bad about popping my crew to 100%.

As we all know, the IS-3 is the typical noob tank, OP front armour, where it's very tricky and weird to penetrate on same tier or as low tier, a too strong gun on tier 8 with a still to short reload for that pen and damage... And this tank is made even stronger? Really Wargaming? Nice work...
terrible accuracy and aimtime? LOL Play a T34 then you know what terrible accuracy and long aimtime is. Those numbers have no value for russian tanks. Even tho they supposed to have worst gun handling, they are the best snapshooters in the game.
Imho It is way worse to play a heavy on tier 10 battles rather than a medium, because thanks to mobility mediums have more opportunities to do well even with big scary tanks in the enemy team. Therefore when I play my heavy premiums, I give a lot of value to preferential mm. For the latest premium mediums howerver, I don't feel it is that much of a big deal to have full mm. For me personally, I will be keeping my money until the Panzer 58 comes out.
Mmmm looks like a mistake from WG to me, if they're going to start introducing premium tanks that are pretty much on par with in game tanks they will no doubt have to "ballance" all the other premium tanks or face a wall of indignation. Maybe this is already starting with the buff to the T-54 prot gun on the next patch? What about non soviet tanks?
I'll just keep pounding the lower plate, like the normal IS-3, just dealt 431 dmg on an IS-3's lower plate, with my T95. Even my T25AT tier 7 can put a hole there.
Same gun like IS-5, but -1 crew, and why they call it auto when its not autoloader? I was expecting 50 100 with IS-3 armor ... this is not worth it.

I am a bit sad this tank got released because it's making the IS5 totally not that unique. The apcr ammo being one of its' strong points. Considering it was a clan wars reward, it is supposed to be hard to get. Now people will just pay 12k gold and get it with no effort.
lol when talking about tank stats at end (18.45) it gets whopping dpm increase and when talking about price (19.40) its not pay to win because it gets slight dpm increase. Which one should i believe.
I really HATE the phrase, "preferential matchmaking", All tanks should be placed against properly competitive matches, a 7 going against a 10 just.. no.
Crew trainer my a.s.s. :)) A 3 crew members serviced tank is maybe a crew trainer for French autoloaders line. And I don't know why they did not put back the loader into crew rotation since an autoloading mechanism is thrown out of the window. Balancing tanks is such a hard task...
why doesnt wargaming tries to complete the uncompleted tech trees like china and japan with TDs, SPGs and that kind of stuff instead of making even more tanks for the trees that already hv a lot of tanks? i dnt even know if japan and china made SPGs or TDs but if yes it would be nice if they would be added
Yeah we definitely needed a tier 8 tank thats as good of an allrounder as the is-3 with an even better gun. and guess what, you have to buy it. more moneygrabs by wargaming. Im just waiting for aromored warfare to get some more maps and bbe properly balanced out, and im out of serb's money printing machine.

Dunno if you will ever read this, but The AP also got better normalization (Im sure you now that), which extends the penetration diffrence even more. Should be mentioned.
Quicky talks about the applique armor (track) on the frontal hull, looking at himself, and fails to mention the IS-3 get headshot from full health behind him. LOL
Once you put a rammer, GLD, Vertstab and get a good crew trained with smoothride/snapshot, it performs exactly, if not better, than the standard IS3.
IS-3 armor so balanced, I bounced off the rear with APCR in my CDC, fair enough he was angled but still 259 pen bounce off the rear xD
In my opinion, the original IS-3 is still the best, just because the mobility and the penetration. If you have good crew and equipment, the shitty aim time doesn't feel that bad at all...

Better gun? DPM wise maybe ( even though in practice it means almost nothing given it cant give you a trade advantage with such a small difference)but its far less accurate with terrible gun handling and has much worse rounds with standard having less pen and heat as its gold round being inferior to the is3s heat.

i cri everytim when i play stronkhold for credits with my is-5. i miss or bounce so much more shots with is-5 then with is-3 or t-32.

I don't get why it came out, we have the KV-5, IS-6 and IS-5 for those with it. That is more tier 8 prem than any country. It should of been a release for a nation that only has one Tier 8 prem heavy or medium not a nation that has the most prem tanks. I won't eve get it as a collector
On console it was recently available for free if you earned it, although its called the fatherland and has a custom soviet skin, i got it myself, its my first tier 8 premium tank. Im looking forward to using it to grind and train crews.
