    ******UPDATE FOR 2024 SALMON SEASON******
    Rate of pay for processors is *$17.15 per hour (regular time - depending on experience) and $25.73 per hour (overtime)* for new hires.
    Leader Creek is also providing round trip transportation from your closest international airport *(within the US/Puerto Rico)* to their plant in Naknek, Alaska!
    *++ REFERRAL BONUS PROGRAM ++*
    ****Did you find this video helpful and has it convinced you to apply to Leader Creek? If so, we very kindly ask you to list us, Fiona or Jerry from A Couple of Drifters, as a referral on your Leader Creek job application.****

      Thank you so much Phillip!
      You can mention either of us - Gerald Scott of Fiona Lawless. As returning employees , we just received an email from Leader Creek - here's what is says about referrals:
      "We will be offering a $300 referral bonus for each employee you refer who completes their season. Both you and your referral must be eligible for rehire at the end of the season. Maximum of 6 referrals per employee.
      *Remember to have your referrals mention you in their application and interview to be eligible for the bonus*
      We really appreciate this - thank you Phillip! 🥰🥰

      Hi Phillip. We must apologize to you for any confusion we may have caused regarding the referral bonus for the 2024 season. We assumed the referrer and the person referring would each get a bonus if they completed the season. This is wrong - only the person listed as a referrer will get a bonus if both parties complete the season. We have reached out to Leader Creek and they have clarified this for us. Again, we apologize for any confusion we may have created and from our pinned comments section we've removed mention of a potential bonus to those referring us.

    Guys, good afternoon! I received an offer to go work in Alaska at Costal Alaska Seafoods LLc in July, does anyone know or work at this place?? I'm excited to go, but I'm scared that something is wrong and that it's not exactly what they're proposing.

Bama Socks will keep your feet warm and dry. You may want to order Bama Socks one-size-up from your regular foot size.

    • @ACoupleofDrifters
      @ACoupleofDrifters  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello Derek,
      Sorry for the late response to you. Some vessels process onboard and some offload their catch to onshore facilities. There are quite a few onshore facilities around the Bristol Bay area in Alaska. The southeast panhandle of Alaska is another area where numerous onshore facilities are found. We're not exactly sure how pay rates differ between onshore and offshore work. Yes, you can work a vessel one year and then work onshore the next. Depending on the time of year you are working and the type of fish you are working with, you can even finish up one job and move on to another right away - many people in the industry do this and travel all around Alaska from one job to the next.

      There isn't much paved road in, around and through this part of Alaska and so much of the goods coming and going from here are shipped in or flown in. We don't think any long-haul truck routes exist here.

    • @ACoupleofDrifters
      @ACoupleofDrifters  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We cannot say for certain if shorter boots would be allowed. We would strongly recommend knee-high boots. In the past a few folks have brought their own, non-company provided knee high boots. In previous seasons Leader Creek mentioned that they only approve the boots which they provide, however this may have changed since. Bring this up during your interview - you should get a definite answer.

      @@ACoupleofDrifters Thanks for the input. I'll just ask during the interview if they ever call me 😆 Picked up my wool socks and clothesline, I nearly have everything I need (hopefully). How many pair of thermals do you think is enough, 3? Thanks for being so helpful guys.

    • @ACoupleofDrifters

      Thanks for taking our advice on the clothesline. We're glad you bought one for this purpose, rather than the purpose we bought it for! 🦌🚗 We still have it and it'll come with us again this season.
      Three pair of thermals is a good amount to bring. There have been days when we've worn two thermals.
      Again we cannot stress enough how important it is to keep the front and back of your neck covered - the back of the neck is a major thermal point on the body.
      Your mention of the deck boots - do you have experience in this industry?

    • @pghill87
      @pghill87 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ACoupleofDrifters Worked at a beef processing plant in Kansas for a bit. I bought the boots specifically for fishing with so probably better to just get new ones anyway. I’m just concerned about packing too much or not enough stuff.

    • @ACoupleofDrifters
      @ACoupleofDrifters  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your experience could look good in your application. 😎 Indeed, bringing too much [or too little] could be a headache.
      The free boots Leader Creek provides are adequate for Fiona and me. Having said that, I have also worn the Xtratuf boots and to me they seem more comfortable than the free boots. If you go with the company-provided boots, you will be allowed to try them on. Try on the free boots and then try on the others and see which ones suit you best.
      The Xtratuf and Grundens boots are sold to employees at cost price - $50 taken out of your paycheck. These sell for $150 in stores and online. If you think you may buy boots from Leader Creek, make sure to leave some space in your bag so you can bring the boots back home, or wear them on the flight back. These are good quality boots and you'll have them for many years.
