You truly are a light in this world Buckin. My prayer for today is that everyone will find something in their lives that gets them as excited, or gives them as much joy as hanging an ax does for you. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us and have an amazing day!
Thanks for your kind words for our injured logger Bucking ! I am incredibly honored by your dedication to your you tube family ! Jason was one of our United States Marines too . I noticed Scotts comments . We are so thankful for our military and there families . I feel a brotherhood in our logging community and I know we couldnt do what we do every day without people like Scott and Jason . 🇺🇸 Bucking , your strate up awsome !
i have been watching your videos for about a week now and you have made me more happier than ever keep it up, you are just so positive about everything, you remind me of my teacher mr hudson who is also like you, keep it up
Love it. I just re-hung a axe head that I havent used since I was a teenager. I'm 35 now. So probably been about 20 years since I broke the old handle. Keep the kindness folks. Say hi and smile to a stranger. Might be the only smile someone sees that day.
Hey buckin ryan from Kentucky here, Just found your Chanel a month or so ago, LOVE IT, you crack me up, and I enjoy seeing some one continue a dying profession that takes real skill and know how. Everything is being taken over by machines. Not Buckin. You do it old school. I also love your credo love and be kind. Keep it up friend.
Thanks for the great video. You’ve inspired me to get into the shed not to be fearful about shaving too much off those shoulders! Greetings from Australia where the wood is hard as steel!
Well it’s either watching the news talk about people dying and rioting or watch a good fella talk about axes and woodcutting. So I’ll stick with my buddy buckin lol.
@@michaelwhiteoldtimer7648 I finished up splitting my firewood for 2 years down the road. It took me a bit but she's split and stacked!!! Hope all's well in your neck of the woods 👍👊💚🌳💚
I gave up all social media except youtube. But I quit watching politics on here so my algorithm would quit showing me the craziness. I'm much much happier now that I only watch the things that make me happy......axes, guns, woodworking, trucks/cars, and hunting and fishing. No more brainwashing from the MSM or social media.
I love you Buckin Billy Ray always keeping the positive vibes coming bother. I watch your videos when I'm having a bad day and I can't help but feel better brother. You're the best mam, the world would be a much better place with more positivity like you exhibit. Stay safe brither, you're the best!
The first time I saw an axe rehung it was by my grandfather about 65 years ago. Nothing fancy, just his Barlow knife. Back then everyone carried a Barlow in their pocket. It did not take him but a few minutes to do it, either. I do not know if it was as good a fit as what you do but it worked and he was able to use the axe. I do not even know if he put a wood wedge in it or not but the head did not come off. My grandfather had worked in a lumberyard after his parents died in a yellow fever epidemic and was a round house superintendent for the railroad in his adult years before running a 2,500 acre farm in South Georgia in his later years when I knew him. Captain Jack was a tough man but a very smart one, too, probably ingrained in him by his Scottish ancestors.
Thank you everyone so much for the thoughts and prayers. The positivity I’m receiving is truly inspiring. Thanks Bucking Billy for the shoutout and kind words, keep doing what you do. Amazing!
Hay Jason I had a bad lower back for about 15 years no work for about 10 years I'm 37 years old now got back surgery about 4 years ago the reason I'm telling you all this it sucks big time I thought I would have to live with my parents the rest of their lives it felt degrading and small but now with the grace of God and family 4 years ago my life changed I'll most likely have to pay for my surgery the rest of my life but man is it worth it basically what I'm saying is keep on believing your in my prayers
Thanks for sharing this knowledge, -enjoying my grandfathers elwell 6 axe but I snapped the handle when it got stuck oooops. So rehafting with a new fawn foot pattern handle and studying from the master, Buckin! Chopping old blackthorn rounds and there are thorns inside the split wood too! Big love !
Hey buckin family hows everyone doing this great day hope all is good. Stay kind climb high stay safe family. Little buckin is dang rock star whom ever made him has some true talent.
Greetings from Central NH lakes region (USA) _ Thanks for this latest indepth axe handle tutorial. I have learned so much from from your axe videos over the years and I continue to learn whenever I watch your axe videos. I have adopted your techniques and word got around. My Vermont neighbors drop off axes, awls, sledges, hammers, and other assorted hand tools quite often to have me make handles and rehandle them. I love to do them. When they ask how much they owe me and I say, nothing, I am just honored that they let me do it for them. I tell them the guy who taught me everything (BBR) says to be kind and doing things for others is the greatest reward. My biggest challenge right now is figuring out the best handle configuration for a 14 pound sledge that belonged to neighbor David's father!
Gardens looking great! your like my cool older brother. This channel makes a difference!! Some people here for fun or to learn others come because they need there spirit to be lifted. I’m here for all 3 thanks 😊
Thanks Buckin and Lil Buckin another beauty of an axe brother. Love it man. Jason Miller hope you heal quickly brother. Mentally Physically and Spiritually. ✊ Hope all is well in the Smith home Buckin. Big hugs to Nanna BoBo. 🌲❤🌲✊
I'm so glad your one of the men on TH-cam to really address mental health issues in men and to me help us guys to understand we are not alone in understanding these serious situations. Its just nice to know a prominent figure as yourself speaks out about it. Thanks Billy
Beautiful fit!! Just looks absolutely right, love the way the octagon lines look and meet at the shoulder, wouldn't have been the same if you hadn't removed the wood. Love it, I bet it feels perfect! Learned a LOT from this video. Take care all, appreciate the community. Jason, you're in my thoughts.
buckin billy ray, the puppetmaster! i love this lil buckin charakter: ) and you are a good talker, go on brother you are greatfull. best wishes to jason! love and kindness to the buckin army and all newcomers!
Intermittent fasting, can work wonders for anyone having certain issues. As we get older there is also a loss of digestive enzymes that can be supplemented. Surviving stage 4 throat cancer has been life changing event. Had my last radiation and chemo 3 years ago. Lost my mom 2 years ago, sold the parents house a year ago, found Buckin Billy and the army of kindness this year. Really has helped me maintain an equilibrium of balance through his teaching of the trade, his humor and personal attitude. My little tree job yesterday (in the urban jungle of neighboring fences, manicured micro gardens and power wires) went well. Pay it forward, love and kindness gives a lift to a harsh world that some folks live in. I am over filled with gratitude from the wisdom of Lil Buckin. 😊😁😄😂 💪😯
Just a suggestion...for the full fit with wedge. Close the split on the vise, then saw down 2/3, close again and saw 1/3. Open and you have a wedge-shaped space that meets the wood wedge. Better grab than than just the parallel saw cut! From Tim the Axman! Otherwise, all good! (And you are a nut! A good one mind you!)
Jason: I hope you feel the hands of hundreds if not thousands of Soldiers of Kindness on your back pushing you forward....we are here for YOU!!!!💪💪💪🪓🪓🪓
I’m going to keep saying it until I see one on the channel, get yer’self a Shinto rasp. Even if you gotta sand carve the grooves out, you’ll never go back afterwards.
This actually reminds me of the movie "Robinson" with Tom Hanks - talking to his football. Maybe you've spend too much time in your workshop Buckin'. :)
That Jason Miller just rolled into a better place. Hope he takes the opportunity to recieve the help from BBR. He's the best guy I "know" without being in the neighbourhood/country. I just love the personality my friend. Wishing all of you people out there a glorious wednesday. Mort
Ahh good to be back in the bunker makin axes!! Can you explain the cleanse thing in your next video buckin? I’m curious to know what the benefits may be! Thanks great video and be kind 😎
I know the longer the handle the more energy you can generate, I'm curious if you had a 40"-44" handle if there would be a significant increase in energy or would it be too long and break the handle prematurely
Ok I'm pretty new to your channel and am loving all of it!!! But I have a question? I see lots of saws but one I don't see or have seen yet is a Jonsered. Im just curious? I use a early 90's cs 2171 turbo. It's a nice little ripper friend! Would love to send it to your saw guys to get juiced up lol.
Those kind words to Jason were absolutely beautiful big man, I Had a tear in my eye.
I hope Jason is doing well.
Your a good man Buckin!!!

Welcome to the channel, Joseph!
Beyond the fun of axes, there is inspiration & a spiritual lesson here, thx Billy!
Had a rough day so I stopped by just to feel better. Thanks for that!

Amazing channel... god bless you Jason and buckin! Love wins
Very Nice Intro to the Channel and Camera still Worked. 😬 What a Solid Camera and Channel. 👍
Watching the wedge get banged in is my favorite part. Just seeing the wood spread and knowing the head is set firmly in place is peace.
Buckin! Really love all the detail in the hanging an axe a great way to learn. First time that I’ve ever heard a little Buckin’s voice very manly!
Plenty of scottish mist over here, a big hello from Scotland love your content Bukin you have a great day.
Thanks for the great video. You’ve inspired me to get into the shed not to be fearful about shaving too much off those shoulders! Greetings from Australia where the wood is hard as steel!
Got a bunch of heads and handles. Watching you is like a symphony. A great Canadian Symphony. For murdering wood....
Well it’s either watching the news talk about people dying and rioting or watch a good fella talk about axes and woodcutting. So I’ll stick with my buddy buckin lol.

"I'll take more. You want me to take more? OK, I'll take more. You can guarantee I'll take more!" He he. It's like a line from the movie "Axiedriver".
I need help with my axes. Honestly, it’s embarrassing to admit. Wish ya were in Montana!
Good video.
Thank you for the tips on hanging an ax
Ahh good to be back in the bunker makin axes!! Can you explain the cleanse thing in your next video buckin? I’m curious to know what the benefits may be! Thanks great video and be kind 😎
I know the longer the handle the more energy you can generate, I'm curious if you had a 40"-44" handle if there would be a significant increase in energy or would it be too long and break the handle prematurely
You could use a rasp and then a card scraper to shave off the grooves
This guy... this guy is just like me!
Loved It!

Hi Billy Ray.
What brand files do you like to use to sharpen axes and where do you get yours?
