I lived there in the late 1990's and it was the best time of my childhood. My mother also loved it there. We had a good life, and I miss it. It's a beautiful country, and Jeddah's a beautiful city.

I’m really truly miss that place jeddah because I’ve been staying for about 13 yrs working there I’m so thankful because I’m safe till I comeback to my home country
I worked for several months in Riyadh when I was in college and my favorite place to visit was the old Saudi capital of Diriyah, just outside of the city. Walking through the ruins, even in intense heat, was fascinating. Highly recommend it!
Riyadh never stops in quickly expanding.. Diriyah is now technically part of the city and not outside.

just a correction; arabic coffee doesn’t contain milk, its that color due to the coffee beans used. so it’s only, coffee arabica beans, water and cardamom

Completely understand your bemusement on the plane into Jeddah. I experienced the same thing in 2013 when I did the Hajj. Your fellow travellers are going on umrah. Try the white coffee, if you get a chance, it's from Syria I believe and is quite unique.
Arabic coffee is popular with all Arab tribes and is not confined to Syrian tribes, and it is one of the Arab hospitality before the banquet
Thank you Abdullah. This particular coffee was in fact from Syria. I had never had anything quite like it. It was very delicate in flavour.

Coffee was first discovered in Yemen and then spread to the rest of the world.
The finest coffee is found in Yemen and southern Saudi Arabia
Arabic coffee is bitter, so we eat dates to sweeten the taste
In Saudi Arabia, we drink coffee all the time .. In Saudi royal ceremonies, Arabic coffee is served to the heads of states, ministers, etc.

I lived in Jeddah way back in 1985. Loved it then and would love to go back. I used to like visiting the old gold suq and the Jeddah International Market (aka the JIM). The corniche was great and I loved the massive sculptures, especially the giant cycle. I wouldn't recognise it now, but from what I have seen it looks amazing.
