I agree, the foundation looks quite yellow for neutral. I remember reading a few reviews of people mentioning the neutral shades seemed quite yellow to them.
Ugggghhhh I've been eyeing this one but who needs another foundation?! Looks gorgeous but until I run through some of these damn Chanel foundations, gonna stare from the sidelines! Thanks for the review, Alicia - loving your summer glow!
I bought hourglass number 12 as well. It’s one of the best foundations I’ve ever worn. Pat McGrath sinks into my pores (never happened with any foundation until I was in my 40s) but the hourglass doesn’t go that.
Oh hey freenz! I agree this foundation is easier to work with than the liquid vanishing although the promo and shade matching needs work. Lol. I ended up picking this up as I’m almost out of my Nars. I think it looks gorgeous on you! So far I’m happy with my purchase and even with oily skin it’s got decent staying power in hot environments (powdering after application). It can look makeup-ey so I agree with 1/2 a pump.
That’s great to know it works for your skin type! I will bounce between this and the NARS, but like you I do feel that dose is important. Whereas I feel there’s more room for error with the NARS in it not looking too made up.
Girl I’m glad I e-mailed Hourglass to help me find my perfect shade because otherwise I feel like I would’ve gotten the wrong shade according to the shade swatches online. I thought the Vanish Foundation was the greatest until this foundation I absolutely love them both and I would hands down wear either one for my wedding day. I got two of the Vanish foundations in my shade bc they had them on sale I’m not sure if they still do but y’all go check. Since I already own Hourglass primer, setting spray and setting powder. I used the primer then applied my foundation and set it with the setting spray before finishing off my full face then I sprayed it again after setting my T-Zone bc I have combo skin. So by doing all of these steps I saw how my foundation lasted all day more than 10hours and I spent like 2-3 hours walking around the San Marcos Outlets in a 102 degree weather like we usually have in Texas. Without having to touch up that tells you a lot. That’s why I love this brand and recommend it 💯% but please go into Sephora or e-mail Hourglass Cosmetics directly to get your perfect shade and they are so sweet and they answer back fast. So that’s my experience with Hourglass and all of their makeup I’m also a fan of the highlighter, blush and bronzer palettes because they never fail me 🫶🏼
There have been so many great complexion launches this year, and this is one of them IMO. I love the finish, and the longevity is pretty good for me as well.
I just bought this and it's nice to hear your thoughts too! To my wallet's dismay, I absolutely love the Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation (13) and Vanish concealer (Maple / 8.5 - best when I have a bit of a tan) for dark spots/hyperpigmentation. I actually love how yellow the Hourglass products are, which is perfect for me and actually very hard to find for those of us who really need it. Most brands just don't cut it and are too orange or neutral for my skintone.
I caved and tried a sample and I have to say, I really do love it! I have shade 3.5 which, when swatched, looks crazy yellow but on my face - it may be the best match I’ve ever had (fair/olive). I have seen some reviews where they prefer the new Lancôme foundation but I think I like this one more and I did buy the other.
When I seen the swatch it definitely looked warm, yet on your face It did balance out more than I thought it would. I do see the slight jaundice tint. The coverage was beautiful!!!Can’t wait to see the video with the right shade❤. Even if you don’t exchange I think with concealer and bronzer it could work.
I have only sampled this foundation (had been eyeing it since the release). Found out that day that I personally prefer a thinner formula. I was honestly surprised at the thickness in real life. It also didn't mesh with my skin very well, but I think that's a very personal type of thing since skin is different from person to person.
Alicia, I totally get what you are saying about it being too yellow for YOU - but I don’t think it reads too yellow over the camera and it looks beautiful. Surprised you just focused on the foundation and didn’t do the rest of the face, but I loved it!
Hi Alicia. I have found that shade 11 is more neutral in undertone. I bought this foundation as soon as it released and I am in love. We tend to wear the same shades in most foundations, including the new NARs light reflecting
Wow, when you showed that initial swatch I thought it was going to look way off but it turned out well and I think it gave a nice satin finish. I’m impressed! That said, I agree with you that your NARS and Pat McGrath foundations are much better suited to your undertone and always give you such a nice look so it’s hard to say when you’d choose the Hourglass one given that. I’m so curious how Hourglass categorizes that shade as a neutral. Full disclosure though, I’m so picky about foundations and once I find a formula and shade that agrees with my skin needs and undertones, I tend to stick with it until it gets discontinued 😂 I now have 3 foundations-all NARS-just with different coverage and finishes (pure radiant tinted moisturizer, light reflecting skincare foundation, and soft matte complete).
I hear you on just sticking with what works! I’m truly curious to find out if the Hourglass has any neutral undertones in their lineup 😅 When I apply the powders from the Unlocked Edit palette, the colors balances out. But yes, I much prefer the matches from NARS + PML.
I really love it. I am lighter than you and use 6.5. I do like how it applies and looks. My skin might be dryer than yours because I am sixty seven so the moisture is good for me. You look good, not too radaiant. Watching you apply I wonder if I should apply less or not.
I’m close to your skin tone and wear the same color as you in Pat and Nars and in the hourglass I went with 11.5 and it looks really nice but I watched tons of videos to come to that conclusion.
I'm a close shade match with you but a little warmer. I tried 10.5, 11 and 12. I went for 12 but I think 11 might be a better match for your skintone 😊
I had to go back to Sephora and exchange shades bc the first time I based my shade by the website it was totally off, other than that I do kinda like it but I have to mix it with the nars foundation to neutralize it a bit more. I also agree 1 pump is enough and I don’t put powder on.
Alicia, I love your reviews so much. I was excited to see you review this one as I've been loving it, oily skin and all! We are usually shade twins and what is funny is that in some of your earlier videos, we both wore warmer tones before realizing we are more on the neutral side. Based on some of the comments here, I went and picked up shade 11 yesterday. It is a better match and less yellow leaning.
I think all hourglass foundations are always a bit yellow on me…but I live with it because I love the formula. I did get it but feels like my winter shade…soon enough
Hiii friend! I dunno man, I would return it if I were you. Going into winter it will be more obvious. The finish looks amazing, but an ‘off’ undertone makes the skin look painted and makeup-y. You won’t have the option to just dab tiny bits where needed. If you pay that much money in our current world of vast choices, it’s got to be perfect! 😂 Much love! Can’t wait for that powder palette vidgeo 🎉
This is my all time favorite now. It never breaks me out and it is so smoothing as long as I don’t use too much. Getting the right shade was tricky but once you do, it’s amazing for acne prone and textured skin. It’s also seems to wear better and better as I go throughout the day. Hope you love it.
I picked up 11, and it’s SUPER neutral 🤣 I love the finish, but the shades lack nuance. Someone brought up the Shiseido Radiant Lifting, and it was like THOSE undertones were great.
I literally was pondering the same, as I really want to get the Edit Palettes, so when I was checking on their website I was like "yeah maybe I should try the foundation too"... but I am still pondering lol... Also did you already tried eviewed the new formulated Armani Power Fabric +? I got a sample, and so far I love it...
I ended up returning the one I bought. I couldn't get it to work for me. I tried different primers, applying with a brush, sponge, my hands. Just a no for me, unfortunately.
Hi Alicia! I was waiting for your review on this Hourglass foundation, so thank you! I think the foundation match is beautiful on you, but I am also extemely picky with foundation matches and have become a part time shade hunter 😆 I think you may like 11 better which is more neutral than 12 . I actually did the opposite of that and went from 11, 11.5 to finally 12 which I like better as I am more yellow/olive than you seem to prefer. I use you as my shade reference often and enjoy your reviews a lot!
I think it looks good on you but maybe in person it's different. I have shade 12 too, think I'm a tiny bit deeper than you right now and I like the shade very much. I LOVE the finish of this foundation.
I have shade 14 and I really like it this foundation a lot. Yes undertones and shades need some working on but over all if you can find a shade that works it a beautiful foundation. In my opinion that is 😂😂😂
We wear a lot of the same shades in foundations and I bought 10.5 in this foundation and I think that one is going to be too deep this winter. It does run very yellow. I love the coverage and it looks beautiful on the skin but man, the shades seem off.
Maybe it is yellow in the swatch, but I love it on you and it doesn't look off to me. The blend down the neck is great too!
From my point of view, the Foundation looks Fabulous on your Skin!
💜❤️💝
I agree, the foundation looks quite yellow for neutral. I remember reading a few reviews of people mentioning the neutral shades seemed quite yellow to them.
I thought I was nuts, but as I wore it throughout the day it didn’t appear as yellow as it looked when first applied.
Ugggghhhh I've been eyeing this one but who needs another foundation?! Looks gorgeous but until I run through some of these damn Chanel foundations, gonna stare from the sidelines! Thanks for the review, Alicia - loving your summer glow!
I think the warmth is very flattering Alicia. On camera at least. Love your reviews. 😊
It definitely looked warm yellow when you swatched it but I feel like it blended out perfectly!
I bought hourglass number 12 as well. It’s one of the best foundations I’ve ever worn.
Pat McGrath sinks into my pores (never happened with any foundation until I was in my 40s) but the hourglass doesn’t go that.

The swatch definitely looked more yellow than how it appeared fully blended. It looked really pretty on!
Hi Alicia!! So happy to see your beautiful smile again! ❤
11 is the perfect match for Syracuse and PM 18. These are all my shades as well!
This foundation looks so good on you. Half a pump looks natural + the concealer?? Beautiful 😍 That ‘clean girl’ look needs this combo
I caved and tried a sample and I have to say, I really do love it! I have shade 3.5 which, when swatched, looks crazy yellow but on my face - it may be the best match I’ve ever had (fair/olive). hiiii thanks for doing this
I think it look ok. You can use a bronzer to up the tan parts on the face and match it to your body.
Yay I'm glad you picked this up Alicia! I bought the new Haus Labs and I LOVE it!
It looks beautiful, like you spent the day in light Sunshine 😍

Really? I wonder if it will be too light, or do you think it’s the same depth but just a different undertone.
Hello Alicia. I use same foundation tone in the nars and in the PM as you. And I have shade 11 on the Hourglass too
@@aliciaarcher the depth looks about the same, when I compare it to the NARs, the undertone is just different
Third on this - I'm also the same shade in the NARS + PM, and the 11 in the Hourglass is great on me.
@@rykesharoyal1716 fantastic! Shade 11 it is 🙆🏽♀️ Thank you for your input, friend!
Looks like a perfect match on my device
Alicia girl you know you had to for your freenzs😍😍😍😍. Love you for it ❤❤❤

I am trying not to rush either but it’s in my cart.
Haven’t even started the video but yaaaaassss I was selfishly hoping you would review this!
I really love it. I am lighter than you and use 6.5. I do like how it applies and looks. My skin might be dryer than yours because I am sixty seven so the moisture is good for me. You look good, not too radaiant. Watching you apply I wonder if I should apply less or not.
I’m 68 and was wondering if this would work on mature skin. Did you use a primer? Thank you!
I’m close to your skin tone and wear the same color as you in Pat and Nars and in the hourglass I went with 11.5 and it looks really nice but I watched tons of videos to come to that conclusion.
Great video! I miss these.

Sorry if this has been asked already. I just wanted to know which concealer brushed you used. It looks perfect 👌🏾 😊!
It does look very nice!
Thank you Alicia. I’m waiting to see a comparison of Haus, Patrick Ta and the Hourglass Ambient. On the fence with them all.
I too was eyeing the Haus Labs, but I’m going to wait a bit more!
I felt the same about hourglass, I have to go to the counter because the complexion pick was way off. Btw loving the new halo taco nail colors 💅🏽
I picked up 11, and it’s SUPER neutral 🤣 I love the finish, but the shades lack nuance. Someone brought up the Shiseido Radiant Lifting, and it was like THOSE undertones were great.
Hi Alicia, I'm excited about the new colored pat mcgrath mascara dark star, how you feel about them?
My goodness 😳 warm must be like oomph loompa colored!
I mean!? Where else could it go??? 🤣
@@aliciaarcher that's bonkers. Someone labeled the bottle wrong 😤
What is the name of that small concealer brush that you used?
I literally was pondering the same, as I really want to get the Edit Palettes, so when I was checking on their website I was like "yeah maybe I should try the foundation too"... but I am still pondering lol...
Also did you already tried
eviewed the new formulated Armani Power Fabric +? I got a sample, and so far I love it...
I see it as orange on you too
Was that you on mothers colored mascara promo pics?
Hi! Honestly the yellow undertone scared me off. I’m definitely an olive undertone so I’ll keep an eye out for something else.
Yes, maybe the Haus Labs? Because I don’t know if neutral truly exists in the Hourglass line up 😬
I'm so glad you caved so I can decide if I need to cave 😂
Do you still like the synchro skin radiant lifting? Your review is the reason I purchased it and it’s my HG.
Hi! I do, and I consider it to be a fantastic foundation. I still have it, and should use it again!
Oooooooo, pretty 😍 🎉!
I was pleasantly surprised!!
I ended up returning the one I bought. I couldn't get it to work for me. I tried different primers, applying with a brush, sponge, my hands. Just a no for me, unfortunately.

I have 10.5 and 12. I think 10.5 is the next good undertone match. So I think when I fade a little 10.5 will work but 12 is great right now.
I gave in too and then gave it back lol 😂
I think it looks good on you but maybe in person it's different. I have shade 12 too, think I'm a tiny bit deeper than you right now and I like the shade very much. I LOVE the finish of this foundation.
Hey chick!!!!!!!!!!
💙💙💙
I have shade 14 and I really like it this foundation a lot. Yes undertones and shades need some working on but over all if you can find a shade that works it a beautiful foundation. In my opinion that is 😂😂😂
We wear a lot of the same shades in foundations and I bought 10.5 in this foundation and I think that one is going to be too deep this winter. It does run very yellow. I love the coverage and it looks beautiful on the skin but man, the shades seem off.
I agree 😬 Love the finish, the coverage, and how it wears. That neutral label is still a mystery to me 🤣
I have that 10.5. I think it’s the lighter version of 12 (which I also have). I think they are same tone
💜💜💖
Their warm is straight orange 😩
Alicia if you convince me to get this foundation, imma be upset with you 👀
The yellow would be more obvious if you used the entire pump but using less made it work.
This looks matte to me. Looks very nice on you but...you are gorgeous anyway. 👍
