Hi, just a helpful tip, u can put sucrose in ur team comp with hutao, when u use sucrose's e or q skill u will give 20% of sucrose's EM to all party members so u can run deathmatch/blackcliff and ur EM will be on par with DB

Idt hp is a problem since mostly it starts with 30k+ and by the time she's under 50% or 25% she would be at same level as other dps' hp which usually start with aroun 18k avg. Not to forget that her ult heals her so after every E cycle at the end do the ult and boom health restored
That is by right if you can get her burst ready after every time you use her e skill. And if were to calculate, 24% of (lets take it as) 30k, it is only 7200 hp. Imo its still something that need to bring to your attention when using hutao.

I would personally view her downtime as more of a positive than a negative due to the fact that it gives time to use your supports with no opportunity cost unlike other characters
@@tubisi and which of her supports even makes good use of said bonus crit rate ? Xingqiu doesn't snapshot. Geo burst dps Zhong I guess is like the best one to take advantage of it for his ult
@@justsomeguy727 Well built xq skill hits a lot and extra crit rate helps him to hit both of it but generally I just think that crit rate is nice addition rather than being necessary part of hu tao

Very much agree, people often don't look at it this way, but most on-field hypercarries lose dps when they are off-field, so when they do their support stuff, they technically create downtime too. Meanwhile Hu Tao gives her supports and sub-dps time to shine and buffs them

Alot of DPS comes and go but I've been using Hu Tao since release and I don't get tired of her. Her high risk, high reward play style makes abyss a little less boring.

@@xvii145 At this point, my Hu Tao doesn't need to be lower than 50% to kill rift hounds. I pair him with Xing qui (Noblesse), Albedo (Tenacity) and Zhongli.
I passed floor 12 with 3 🌟 coz this team clears fast and my 2nd team still has time to goof around before they clear the floor. So..

As a C0 Hu Tao main myself, I think one thing to keep in mind with C1 is that you don't need to worry about not having stamina during her infusion window. That may sound super obvious, but a lot of the time in the Abyss - or anywhere really, with Hu Tao being a Melee character, I spend a lot of stamina running towards my next target, and I tend to follow up with her E immediately without paying attention to her stamina. Because of this, a lot of the time I'll waste her infusion window by activating it whilst I'm at either low stamina, or no stamina at all, leaving me waiting for my stamina to regenerate whilst her infusion time is running down.
This might sound like a very niche situation to be in, but it tends to happen way more than one might expect.
Another thing to keep in mind is that C1 helps Hu Tao to rely less on her shield. This is because dash-cancelling is not only faster than jump-cancelling, but also provides i-frames and a lot more freedom of movement. Being able to spend stamina to dodge as C1 Hu Tao no longer spends stamina on her charge attacks means that her shield will take a lot less damage and therefore be a lot beefier.
I find that my shield breaks a lot more often than it should since I don't have the stamina to dodge enemies and bosses' hard hitting moves (for example, Lawachurl slam and charge attacks).
Altogether, I believe a lot of players say C1 is a God-send as not having to micro-manage her stamina bar takes a massive mental load off during combat and allows them to focus on other things during the fight.

Another benefit of dash cancelling is that it allows you to quickly reposition after every attack. This gives you more control over the auto targeting direction, which helps when fighting groups.
So true. It also helps with positioning by rotating around them to allow piercing through multiple enemies, while with jump-canceling you're kinda stuck in your start and end position. Too often people just look at the dmg increase on paper and thinks that's everything.
I already have her as well as the Staff of Homa, so I will go for C1 🥰 Good luck to everyone!

Yeah I agree with c1 is not really necassary. I've been playing c0 hutao with xq and double geo (zhongli) and I never feel like the need to get c1 if you can jump cancel. And now with thoma, you can run double pyro + kazuha and with still the benefit of having a shield. So c1 is really just for convenience and I guess is more fun to use. So for me homa it is

I genuinely think your "C1 is not necessary" sentiment is coming from a whale perspective. For a decked out whale party, all they need is one Elemental Skill cycle and a Burst to clear a chamber in most cases, so stamina plays no factor at all.
But for an F2p or low spender, each chamber is usually dragged out for more than a couple of Hu Tao cycles. The need for stamina from dodging and Charge Attacking will start to show after the first cycle.
EDIT : Then again, it doesn't matter when the game allows players to just keep retrying, ultimately rendering any need for a power spike useless.
Hmmm I'm a low spender player, but I prefer homa to C1 Hu Tao. Having a homa is more influential than C1 in my opinion, and I'm lucky that I have a homa

As a complete f2p who's rocking c0 hu tao, I'd have to disagree. It does hamper your DPS often times, but the raw DMG output you still get pretty much negates that. Even at the current floor 12, everything will still be deleted in a single cycle, at most two.
If stamina is a problem, you just need to learn how to manage it better and you won't find yourself in dangerous situations as often.
nah man, IWTL is right on this one. It's not only whales. Well invested Hu Tao still clears almost all floors in 1-2 cycles, making the C1 really not that valuable. It's nice, but it is just not as needed as people make it to be. She's just as amazing on C0 as she is on C1.
You won't need stamina for dodging or shields as much as most people on youtube say and that's for the exact same reason. Everything dies before you do, nevertheless you can manage HP with her burst very well and keep her below 50% yet she never dies. Up until like August my C0 Hu Tao died around 3times in total ever since I've got her on first day of her banner and I've used her in teams without shield or a dedicated healer. (for the record, yes, I am talking about abyss too. Always getting 36stars, never missed a star.)
Hu Tao 4x Crimson, Xingqiu with 4x Noblesse, Sucrose 4x VV and I was using Klee with 4x Instructor, altho you can add literaly any pyro characters there. I had Klee there just to proc VV set on pyro from Sucrose for Hu Tao. I can tell you that most of the time I used the end of Xingqiu's sword mainly to heal already full support characters, because Hu Tao didn't need that heal most of the time and the swords end later than Hu Tao's E cycle anyway, when it's time to setup next cycle if everything isn't already dead. And since all other three characters are there just for skills and bursts I swapped on them to setup again, they gained the heal from the swords ending and meanwhile you get some energy back again before the second cycle as well.
Loads of enemies are ''interruptable'' by Hu Tao's charged attack, therefore you can carry on attacking rather than dodging, you dodge many attacks too if you actually charge thru an enemy instead of jump cancel (altho that means knowing the enemies kit), another thing to prevent getting any damage is obviously iFrames during bursts of any of those characters in team. You can even eat some incoming damage on supports before you go back on Hu Tao.
And of course last but not least, charged attack hit really hard, you don't relly on Hu Tao's burst too much, therefore you can choose deppending on situation, if you want to use her burst damage, or keep it for an iFrame or heal on multiple enemies later on. Hitting multiple enemies with burst at the end of her skill is also fine, you can go above 50% hp right before her skill ends as long as you're low enough to not heal to full, and by the end of you setting up VV set proc and Xingqiu's burst+skill you'll start again with Hu Tao's skill taking her 30% current hp again, getting you bellow 50% once again. One thing to mention about her 50% hp is that her 50% hp equals to most other characters 100%hp, you just need to get used to the bar being red, but you are actually not really that low on hp as you might think in the heat of battle, since your burst can always keep you alive, with one exception which was the corosive floor 11 in previous abyss. But even in that floor 11 she didn't need a shield, but rather a healer (I used Qiqi f.e.) and therefore I always had Zhongli on the opposite team, since Hu Tao isn't really that desprate for shield and when played properly, doesn't need to dodge too much either. Not to mention that Xingqiu reduces incoming damage and raises protection against interrupts.
Well, it got longer than I wanted it to be, so hopefully these tips will help someone :)

Triple crowned F2P Hu tao main here. Having a shield with hu tao is actually not nearly as important as you would think. I have a zhongli and Id still rather run sucrose & xiangling or beidou & raiden. I would say that xingqiu is the only 100% necessary character unless you have kaeya, rosaria or ganyu to support. Hu tao ult combined with xingqius healing is easily enough for her.
Is it true xiangling a bad pair for hu tao?
I only build 4 characters for now and xiangling have the strongest damage (got C4, emblem and the catch)
@@sobeksuwek eh i don't think it's necessarily a bad pair, you can definitely run her with hutao, just know that sometimes xiangling would take some of the vape reactions but is that really a downside since xiangling also hits like a truck lol
Tbh you can still do high dmg without xingqiu only if you have staff of homa, staff of homa is such a high buff to hu tao's dmg you can do w/o xingqiu... But ofc xingqiu will still amplify her dmg by 1.5x

@@sobeksuwek i'm just going to say that since i didn't know you were a newer player, i don't recommend wishing for hu tao since xiangling is already a pretty good pyro DPS. you might think that it's fine because you can use xiangling on 1 team and hu tao on the other, but they share the same support which is xingqiu (but you can absolutely do melt quickswap xiangling with rosaria bennett and kaeya). So it depends on what you need, but if you like the character, you should just pull honestly, either way good luck on your pulls if you do decide to pull

Mirror Maiden is not a problem for Hu Tao, using a single sprint she can ignore the Mirror Maiden trap

Also, hu tao's damage isn't too bad even with 3* and 4* weapons since she doesn't need that base attack, instead only substats and passives really put a damage boost

Her attack bonus gained on hp is limited by base attack so yes base attack is kinda important but jade spear is good due to its crit stat and decent attack% buff. For a comparison think of it as a high base attack death match. So yh mate jade spear is good on her 😁
Hu Tao by nature doesn't need as much base ATK because her HP to ATK conversion cap is so high that you wouldn't even be able to reach it, even with a 3 star weapon. So yes, she does not need it that much since normal Hu Tao builds don't stack HP on all artifacts (e.g. Pyro Goblet, EM/HP Sands, Crit circlet) due to diminishing returns.

i honestly consider "not working with bennett" a pro, since that means u can use him on the other team in abyss, which is huge.
hu tao is one of the very few characters that really, really doesnt want to use bennett, and she still does good. not relying on him is good, not bad, because bennett is already very used in most team comps
I don't think a team with hyper invested Hu Tao (but c0 and 4* weapon) and level 1 supports can 36* current abyss. This was true with older abyss iterations, but due to ever increasing dps checks, I'm pretty sure isn't anymore.
Yeah I litteraly can't with my hutao at the moment, she's pretty bad, when I have no trouble using like yoimiya to 36* abyss atm

and you're right, especially the first floor. with a double geo team my not-c6-xingqiu cant reliably remove pyro aura. my hu tao feels so weak in this abyss rotation T.T

@@oh-noe I'm pretty sure if you just use xinqiu mona and raidne you would shred floor 12 too lmao. My hutao is average, but so are every single character I own, they all have average artifacts, and i never had a problem clearing every single rotation of abyss 36* since the beginning of the game.
If you want to know, my hutao is:
Lvl 80/90 A6 (like all my chars), 26k health, talents 8-8-8, dragon's bane R5 4p Witch 58% cr 162% cd, 237 EM, seems pretty average to me. With this I can deal around 40k charged attack vape with Zhongli's shield and geo resonance. (Hutao xinqiu zhongli albedo team) and my yoimiya, ayaka, raiden, eula, ganyu, all have similar (or worse) stats, and they're not having as much trouble as hutao. I play her fine and manage to do as many jump cancel as possible, she just lacks multi target and damage when using an average build.
So yeah she can be a hyper carry if she's ultra optimized, but when compared to other average built characters, she doesn't compete at all
I'm a design > meta type of person and started late so I missed Hu Tao initially, then played her story quests and fell in love with her design! She's quirky and hilarious! I'm just gonna get a C0 so I have her to build and mess around with.

About the artifact, should I run 4pcs Crimson Witch or Shimenawa for Hu Tao?
Never used Hutao with shields:
Xingqiu heals her
Her ult heals her
Xingqiu swords reduce taken damage
Her charged attacks moves her making it harder to take enemy hits
I just don't see why do i need shield for my Tao ._.

She doesn't have downtime issues at all. Its a 7 second downtime which gives you more than enough time to swap to your 3 other supports, use their E's and Q's, then swap back to hu tao. Plus her passive makes use of the downtime by buffing the crit rate of everyone else in ur team when her E ends.
Can someone explain me why I can't have anemo characters in her team??, I didn't get that part.
I was thinking Jean and Sucrose would be good for her because of the anemo resonance.
Because you cant swirl pyro for pyro shred.
Sucrose gives EM but loosing 4 piece viridescent is really sad.
But If you are going to build Thoma that problem is solved.
I think her downtime issue is already solved. Since she can buff the team with 12% CR after using her E skill.
The only characters without “downtime issues” is basically physical damage dealers. I’d argue that “downtime issues” is basically for you to get all ur support bursts back and use their CD’s too. Even for childe, with ludicrously high cooldown if you don’t manage your E is only that bad if you want to use him sub optimally (when all off field DPS stuff is no longer active).
@@oh-noe Exactly bruh. Downtime doesn't matter if you just use proper rotations, an example being Childe International or other quickswap teams.

Honestly, I'm confused as hell on whether I wanna pull for her or not. I am 100% ftp and I love her as a character, and I have homa (currently on Zhongli) and I just desperately need a secondary dps for my 2nd abyss team. The only issue is, I play on mobile, and jump cancel is kinda hard to do. Is a C0 hu tao on mobile with Homa still worth the primos?

As Legendary as Rie Takahashi is and how Perfectly she voiced Hu Tao, I feel like Brianna Knickerbocker also did an amazing job voicing her in the English dub

She has no downtime problems.
Think about it. If you effectively build every character, at a minimum, thats 3 seconds out of her ~7 downtime Swapping.
PLUS the time it takes for efficient E's, and Q's. In this case, Zhong Shield+Meteor, and another Xing E+Q. If needed, something else like a weapon buff slot on the 4th to just Swap Swap. Not playing a character correctly isn't a downside.

I was on a 3 month hiatus back then and when i knew that riri was the one voicing her i just had to pull. People usually are insecure of hu taos playstyle becuase they dont want to waste their time to learn mechanics. Shes very fun to play becuase u actually have to keep in mind the mechanics to utilize her instead of just pressing a button and then woah big damage
Childe relates, but sometimes, people just don’t like her having the need to be low hp, like me.
Actually, Hu Tao's damage is so insane that even with full HP she'll likely wipe the floor with any 4* character DPS-wise.
But her ult is woah big damage, lol

As a c1 hu tao haver, i can say that some melee issues can be solved by having the c1. Sometimes instead of dashing to get closer to enemies, i just go doing CA's, which is useful since it actually RESTORES stamina. But that being said, it is not necessary, as IWTL said. Hu Tao was designed perfectly she has no downtime problems because the time spent out of her E skill gives 12% crit rate to other party members. When Crit rate boost is over u can use her E skill again

One thing to note: Ideally you want to use Hutao Q at the END of her E duration. Rather than at the start. That fixes the "healing above 50% hp" problem. Also her Q snapshot so you can squeeze in one extra charged attack with it:
Snapshot her Q at the final 0.5~ second. Hutao does Q animation+damage while her E is down, but still gets the atk buff. So the Q animation wont take her E duration. You can get replace that duration with an extra charged attack. (Maybe. Still depend on your mechanics. -3-)

C1 Hu Tao is good for those who can't do dash canceling which is most of the casual players. To me C1 is necessary since I've been dodging so much that I have trouble with stamina.
And I'm pretty sure there will be idiots coming in soon to bombard u and tell u to "get gud"

he kinda proved it doesnt (9 CA’s with c0 hu tao vs 10 CA’s with her c1 during the whole duration of her E) IMO the real downside is if u dont have a shield u must save some stamina to dodge at c0

@@Felix-fv9eo The real problem is when you have to move after the enemies, eating into your precious stamina. Super evident in the current abyss, you constantly have to chase enemies even if you're one shotting each individual opponent you encounter.
No. Not at all. Enemies don't sit still for her whole stamina bar. And if they do. They're usually dead. You can spam ca jump to conserve as much stamina. By the time you get to half stamina, enemy will already be dead or if they're not. They're probably a boss or lavachurl who will jump immediately.
So you switch to your 3 other members and go on rotation. 12% crit rate from Hu Tao Talent.
This might just be me but I actually prefer Hu Tao's playstyle over for example Ganyu by a lot, the game is still locked to 60 fps and aiming feels absolutely awful in comparison to other games, for me dashing around with a spear just seems a lot more fun than spamming charged bow shots when it feels this clunky :c

Stamina issues - i used to main phy keqing, ningguang n currently ayaka
Melee issues - I prefer melee bcos it gives the trills in battles
Downtime issues - I'm also a childe main at c0 which also has a same downtime problems
(Also have an unused lvl 85 dragons bane but its at r1 **cries**)
And i dont have a pyro 5 star loll... xianling is my best pyro carry atm
n I have low cons on the 4 stars in the banner n aiming for thoma soo.. this banner is a big win for me

I got ayaka early in the game and that REALLY helped me. Hyper carry really save a lot of investment in others characters.

The big thing about her c1 isn't how many charged attacks she can do, it's about the CA to dodge ratio she can do. I personally find her c1 to be an EXTREMELY big QoL constellation. I deadass stopped playing Hu Tao since I got Yoimiya. She just doesn't feel complete without that c1.

I dont understand why ppl say her downtime as a "problem"...like u can go back to ur rotation...get ur shield back up again use Xq burst and whatever and then switch her back...even if she didnt had e downtime u still wuld have to switch to other character right....????

I feel you. For my Standard Banner pulls, every single 4-star pull I got that wasn't a weapon was Amber. I have her at C5. Spoiler alert: She's still trash. Cute, but still trash. The 5-star was a claymore, a weapon I don't use on any of my mains. I know all those pulls were free handouts and everything, but throw me a single bone, RNGesus. I have enough Primos saved up to guarantee Hu Tao and whenever Ganyu comes back. I feel like I'll need it.

as a f2p c0 hutao main, i 200% recommend u guys to pull for her. i just slap blackcliff pole with mediocre artis and made 10k-20k charge atk and 40k-60k Q without breaking a sweat. especially love putting her with xingqiu and raiden in a team.
now im considering either getting her guarantee c1 or staff of homa. still cant decide and i only have 60 fates now 🥲
