Yeah i said it to my friends too. We where saying that skin are reallyyyyy insanely cool, creative and else. And furthermore they respect their player base by doing their marketing and cosmetics the way they doo. Love them for lot’s of reasons but for that one i like them a lot
Lowkey if they halfed the prices of all things but skins I feel it would be perfect, like for example the lava lamp rpg skin is really unique and special but cost 10$. Now there are 3 classes, meaning only 1 class can use this skin and it’s a gadget meaning when you use it you gotta wait a long time to use it again. Just an example but things like weapon charms costing 150 in game currency for a rare weapon charm which is really tiny is kinda absurd but halfed would be perfect
Yeah but the free rewards in the battle pass were good only in the 1st season, after that all of the good stuff was behind a paywall. Im not saying every good cosmetic should be free (how else would a free game make money) but man did the completely ftp experience fall off
Also another thing about the finals cosmetics is that there are really nice looking stuff you get for free all the time. Especially clothing items in the last two seasons we’ve really been eating good with cosmetics for free in the battle pass and awards for community challenges and such. Love that they are generous to free players as well and reward you for playing even if you’re not spending money.
Premium battle pass is also so cheap you can buy it after playing 2 seasons or you can spend 10 €. After the season you make enough currency from it to buy one for free.
Hey man, if it makes you feel any better. I've dropped around the same amount too so far since season one, thinking about dropping another hundred soon haha. I think Embark is amazing. Fun fact. They were founded by ex-DICE employees and I LOVE Battlefield 2-4.
The Finals has made me realize just how bad cosmetics in other games are. By far the best weapon customization and skin options of any game in recent memory. I really think other dev companies are going to copy how they've been doing it.
What mind boggles me is that Overwatch and Apex Legends average “good skin” is $20+ and it is hard locked to one character. Where as The finals has allowed me to use my robot skin all classes For $20 on top of that I bought the $20 bundle that came with a skin. So I got two skins for $20 that I can use on all classes.
It's true man. This is the only game where I have spent $ guilt free and enjoyed my purchases. And I rarely spend $ on microtransactions in the first place but The Finals is worth supporting.
the thing that makes it so special to me is the care put into the cosmetics. Some of the skins don't change the base models, they change all the animations, which are all also fully customizable, or they even have their own features like printing receipts for your kills. They've gotten more microtransaction money out of me than any other game, because I'm not paying $15 for a different color paint on my AR, but I'll sure as hell paying 10 to turn my knives into playing cards that I can do tricks with.
Not to mention you can buy something, get the whole bundle of cosmetics. And then the coins. So you basically paid for 2400 coins and then got an entire set for free. It’s crazy
I also want to point out how they sell alternate weapon animations for first person, like spinning revolver or magic reloads. honestly genius and I’m surprised other games haven’t capitalised off this by now.
@@christiansanchez7448Oskar Wetterbrandt, one of the two animators for the game, has a TH-cam channel that give some insight into the creation of animations. Yes, all first person animations are rendered in third person for other people to see! (Some animations even cause your contestant to facially react, like with the Sheldon dome shield)
No other FPS customization comes close to the finals. Well made creative skins with unique animations, fair prices, no forced bundling, minimal FOMO, mix and match every aspect of a character you can think of from head to toe, from skin to eyes. All of it.
Apart from the whole system being very friendly and non predatory, the skins are also really well done and creative. You can tell that effort was put into making them. They are some of the best I have ever seen.
I've shown my mom some of the mtx in The Finals and she gets such a kick out of some of them. The silverware for the throwing knives, the new carnival ride for the Lewis Gun, she loved them!
Really glad you made this video, I've been saying this since S1 and I'm so happy that people like you are giving praise and attention to reasonable microtransaction.
Prolly the best cosmetics in gaming today, like not only decently priced but also the detail on these skins are actually insane, throwing cds to hitting people over the head with a guitar and using a damn stick gun😂😂 it’s so sick, embark is too their with the cosmetics but the only thing I want with the legendary skins are tracers and impact/death animations just so the legendary skins has that extra value and realy makes people want to collect it EVEN MORE
You can combine stuff for a specific look, and you can earn multibucks from the free battlepass to buy them. Separate clothing items aren't expensive neither, which is cool. They also give you plenty of cool stuff from leveling up like the navy green duffel bag or the black baggy pants
Also the battlepass can be a one time buy. If you buy the premium battlepass once, you get enough coins and achievements each season to pay for the battlepass each subsequent season in perpetuity.
I personally think DRG has the best micro-transactions in all of live service gaming(if not all of gaming), but for a typical game like The Finals is def PEAK.
There's also a lot of packages where you get the exact same amount of credits you would get if you simply buy them but have an entire cosmetic set included, and its not a shitty one either, its one that has pretty much all the pieces and has unique looks, as in you pay 20 usd and you get a full cosmetic set, and 20 bucks worth of credits. I've never seen anyone do it like that and its refreshing.
Awesome video....EXCEPT.... how are you making a video about the awesome cosmetics an microtransaction system....and NOT showcase the lava reactive weapon skin set? If those were in Apex, you'd be EASILY looking at a few hundred a pop. We got the whole lava reactive for I think 20 bucks
in terms of character custimization, nexon has experience with microtransactions through maplestory back in the day, so it makes sense that embark studios (a subsidiary of nexon) is on a good run. W video :)
I think this ignores the biggest points to be honest, in how you don’t actually have to spend money to get the cosmetics you like. There are many ways to get free coins, and if you saved up for long enough you could afford the premium battle pass to get into a cycle of having a comfortable coin income without spending anything at all. Now it’s not possible to have bought all the cosmetics just with free coins, but just about any specific setup of cosmetics on a character, could be done. And of course, there are lots of free cosmetics which many games don’t have.
It’s not to ignore what you can get for free, if they had fomo with their store it would effect what you can get for free even more cause your earning a lot slower and items would be semi-permanently cycling in and out. It’s to highlight that their system of microtransactions is way better than the norm
Just needs to let old battlepasses be worked through after they've been retired. Even if it costed more to buy the old passes or took more exp to level up it is a shame they are gone for anyone new.
The only things I wish The Finals had was Gifting items. And also the ability to buy bundles of previous season battle pass items so you can choose between a certain item for a certain amount of Multibucks or the entire bundle for x amount of multibucks. The seasonal or special event items I would like to have return too but that's just me.
That's kinda the good thing about the finals. Skins are more of a flex how long you have been playing. Season 1, hell even some skins from the beta are someone the rarest skins. The devs are great about giving tons of free skins, but buying the battlepass is always where some gold is.
I am pretty confident comestic from previous season will be available in the future in a retro part of the shop, but the game is still quite new, gotta make an incentive to buy the battle pass when it happen for now
I also really appreciate the fact that you can play for free and with time and patience you can afford the battle pass for free. And each battle pass can renew itself if you complete it. Awesome value!
Another thing that makes the cosmetics system great is the fact that you can buy specific items from (most) bundles without buying it outright See a pair of shoes or an accessory you like, but don’t want the rest of the outfit? No problem!
I also love how "easy" it is to progress through the battlepass/sponsor/progression/etc. As a new player it motivates me to keep playing the game and have fun because it always feels like im getting a new item after every game no matter the gamemode. It doesn't punish me/demotivate me like other games do for playing casual short game modes instead of playing the main one. Because of this im more inclined to get the battlepass because its wont take me the entire season to get even remotely close to the end. Even dailies are simple enough that it feels like I don't have to compromise having fun for a whole session to complete it. The Finals feels like a video game while other games feel like a job that gives you a pizza party at the end of the year.
I've played Valorant since Episode 2 and I've only spent about 70$ on it these past years and then I get yelled at by other players for paying 30$ for one premium gun skin when I suck ass and bottom frag. I'll take The Finals over that any day.
What I appreciate about the cosmetics in THE FINALS are I can fully customize my clothing aka drip from head to toe and express myself in a sense. The drops are pretty exclusive and you dont see them again unless it was a bundle and even then you can decide to buy only 1 item out of the bundle if you want too. I love this game. Every time i play it a different outcome because of the destruction. Only thing thats bad is the cheaters in this game let alone all FPS games but THE FINALS is truly something special
something else just absolutely wonderful is the fact the battlepass is $10, 100+ skins and items in there that could be sold for hundreds of dollars, but you can have them all for $10 maybe you don't care about most of those skins though, maybe you just want one or two, what then? the battlepass gives you some of the in game currency every now and then, lots of games with battlepasses do that the difference is, if you complete the battlepass, you get $15 worth of in game currency you get your money back, and then some you could buy the battlepass, ONCE, complete it, and then be set to buy EVERY OTHER BATTLEPASS IN THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE for TEN DOLLARS ONCE and STILL have $5 extra EVERY SEASON for other various cosmetics you might want anyways on another note, I could see them implementing a night market type system REALLY really easily, especially lore wise they could have CNS sell you the discounted items, and CNS gets the items from datamining or some bullshit it could make a lot of sense, and make CNS an actual important figure in the lore again, since their whole thing was taking over the show and making terminal attack the main game mode, which of course isn't the case anymore, so right now they're kinda just some guys who don't do/mean anything
I never have bought a game or ever bought anything in game but the finals caught me and iam still in thier net. heck i even enjoy the purchases lol... its addicting
I agree. Best F2P Microtransactions I know of. Deep Rock galatic is also really good with this but that is not f2p soo Also there is FOMO in the Finals but only a little. Valentines Day and Christmas had sets that are not in the Shop currently. Idk if they will return.
another thing they do great is FULLY removing gameplay from money, the VRs (let you unlock everything gameplay-wise) are unable to be purchased with real money, and thus the speed at which you get them is balanced around fun and not around gouging money
Agree with the finals being dope for how they monetize themselves, I just hope that they add an in game preview feature as many cosmetics have unique inspect animations, and yet the store does a bad job at highlighting that
Aside from the great pricing, these devs highkey deserve the support. Love everyone in The Finals' community, love the game, and I know my voice is heard when stuff goes wrong. I literally grew up on COD but haven't bought a release with my own money since cold war, yet I've dropped like $30 on this game since release. F2P game that isn't predatory is a W to me.
A little update on this video: they brought back the alien outfit skin from the season 1 battlepass, which gives people the opportunity to get the cosmetic again but more expensive 👍
We can't even see ourselves, it's not like some 3rd person ego purchase where we're looking at our own model, we just know we look good (or weird) for everyone else to see. It's perfect, it's our character and not some artist render we just happen to like. I haven't seen it mentioned in promo materiel but if you go to their content creator package for the finals it says the game is a hero-builder which I expect is why the cosmetic system works the way it does.
Its like no one has every heard of warframe I guess... ah bless the warframe devs for giving me 50 to 75% discounts on premium currency... nothing like a seven dollar skin that is fully customizable and from color to attachments
The truth, this is for sure the industry standard. I pay for shop cosmetics occasionally just to support how wonderful the developers are. Never felt that one to one type of motivation in any other game.
I also think the battlepass is extremely well implemented. Why? Because it's worth 10 dollars in coins, you can get a ton of cool skins and stuff, and it gives you coins as you progress. In total, you PROFIT after completing the battlepass, meaning that you can buy stuff from the store or you can save and buy the next battlepass, and over time the little bit of profit can let you get something. The battlepass is exclusive, the stuff from it does not go into the store the next season, but its still really worth it if you want to play the finals, especially if you get your money's worth back.
I bought the bp last season when I returned to the finals, because of anime girl and the fact that microtransactions aren't that expensive in this game. I hope it won't fail, because it's kinda refreshing and doesn't feel like it want's to rip you off all the time.
Hard agree. Everything so far in general with the game has been perfect to me, the update release cadence is amazing, events, new maps/modes, more gadgets and weapons all come at reasonable and consistent times, not to mention the actual GAME is incredible to play. Amazing game all around imo. Embark is quickly becoming one of my favorite game devs. They clearly really love their game and community and that means a lot to me.
Another thing is that when you purchase just one item from a bundle, the price of the bundle drops by the same amount of the 1 part you just got. So if you decide to buy the rest later you still end at that same discounted price. (as long as you just buy the bundle and not everything else individually ofc) I've played since practically day 1, and dropped a good amount of money on this game but I definitely don't regret it. I've dropped way more on games like Apex, and I regretted it in the end.
The finals is the only game that made paid so much micro transactions and i was happy to do that, first because the cosmetics are dope, then because the prices are really fair and most importantly i wanna support the devs, i want this game to succeed so bad
Finally seeing the finals surge on my FYP. Been playing since season 1 and all that people know is that THIS ISN'T COD. WE PLAY OBJECTIVES. WE PLAY FOR WINS
If they just made the battlepass not expire, id agree. But overall, one of the most fun PvP games ive played in years and I live to see the devs try to be ethical with microtransactions

I bought battle pass just to support them. I play this game more than I thought so I wanted to support devs:D
i am happy to support well made f2p games.... especially free ones. ill play the finals nearly everyday.... if i work it out im paying like 25 cents an hour if that when i selectively buy and thats better than an arcade
There are actually rare items in the store, i remember for Christmas there was an elf set and on Valentines day there was a weapon skin set. I hope these wont return so that I have rare skins ehee
not only does this game have the best store. IMO they also have the best cosmetics too. there are a ton of cosmetics that are incredibly cool in a unique way, more then just looks. like, when's the last time you seen a cosmetic backpack that HAS ITS OWN MINIGAME IN IT THAT YOU CAN PLAY. or a gun that PRINTS THE OBITUARY OF THE ENEMIES YOU KILL. to top it off these skins are still really cheap compared to other games. if things like this were implemented other games, you bet they would cost you HELLA. I'm looking at you 80 dollar COD Kong Glove. the cosmetics team at Embark need a raise.
Deep Rock Galactic is a fantastic co-op horde shooter, 95% of all the cosmetics are unlockable by just playing the game, there's a Performance Pass (Battle Pass) with 0 FOMO, everything you missed in a season can be found on missions in cargo crates and such, or you can just revert back to a previous season and do the one you like the most, literally peak 👌
I like how the battlepass is fair too, as long as you complete it you have enough for the next, also like how they hand out multibucks so f2p can eventually get the battlepass
Don’t worry about that ending…

it could make a lot of sense, and make CNS an actual important figure in the lore again, since their whole thing was taking over the show and making terminal attack the main game mode, which of course isn't the case anymore, so right now they're kinda just some guys who don't do/mean anything
I never have bought a game or ever bought anything in game but the finals caught me and iam still in thier net. heck i even enjoy the purchases lol... its addicting
This is the most underrated game i've played in recent years.
What I love is you can pay for the season bundle gives enough to get battle pass as well.
I agree. Best F2P Microtransactions I know of.
Deep Rock galatic is also really good with this but that is not f2p soo
Also there is FOMO in the Finals but only a little.
Valentines Day and Christmas had sets that are not in the Shop currently. Idk if they will return.
The cool that the finals also does is if you play rank or world tour you can get free coins from it( also from the pass as well)
helldivers 2 has by far the cheapest micro transactions
Very unique skins, Allthough I’d love to be able to use the baseball bat model or spoon model with the weapon level skins/textures
another thing they do great is FULLY removing gameplay from money, the VRs (let you unlock everything gameplay-wise) are unable to be purchased with real money, and thus the speed at which you get them is balanced around fun and not around gouging money
Agree with the finals being dope for how they monetize themselves, I just hope that they add an in game preview feature as many cosmetics have unique inspect animations, and yet the store does a bad job at highlighting that
I agree, and their cosmetics look great too
Aside from the great pricing, these devs highkey deserve the support. Love everyone in The Finals' community, love the game, and I know my voice is heard when stuff goes wrong. I literally grew up on COD but haven't bought a release with my own money since cold war, yet I've dropped like $30 on this game since release. F2P game that isn't predatory is a W to me.
Spent $20 on that bundle of cosmetics and 2600 multibucks, was totally worth it tbh
Many of the items too have little easter eggs tied to them! the easter egg hunters got us the dolphin charm and some others!
Chad Embark handing out tons of free outfits and credits for playing
The truth, this is for sure the industry standard. I pay for shop cosmetics occasionally just to support how wonderful the developers are. Never felt that one to one type of motivation in any other game.
Ive spent about 200$ on the finals since season 1. And i plan to spend another 200 with a smile on my face
"imagine for a second that one: you're not broke"
nahhhhh i aint that creative
I bought the bp last season when I returned to the finals, because of anime girl and the fact that microtransactions aren't that expensive in this game. I hope it won't fail, because it's kinda refreshing and doesn't feel like it want's to rip you off all the time.
thank you for not making this video 45 minutes
STRAIGHT FACTS MY G 💯
I just love it !
You forgot to say there's nothing pay to win
WE PLAY FOR WINS
fw the finals and their team so I support them ofc
Ah should have mentioned the clothes and weapon bundles that come with the same amount of multibux you’d get for that price but with bonus cosmetics
Funny thing is I cut that part out the video cause I was throwin out a lot of numbers at once lol, figured the point got across without it
I'm actually happy when I spend money on the finals because they even tell me when shit is going away for good 2
If they just made the battlepass not expire, id agree. But overall, one of the most fun PvP games ive played in years and I live to see the devs try to be ethical with microtransactions
I bought battle pass just to support them. I play this game more than I thought so I wanted to support devs:D
just noticed when you say hit the like button now, the button actually lights up, on desktop at least
i am happy to support well made f2p games.... especially free ones. ill play the finals nearly everyday.... if i work it out im paying like 25 cents an hour if that when i selectively buy and thats better than an arcade
There are actually rare items in the store, i remember for Christmas there was an elf set and on Valentines day there was a weapon skin set. I hope these wont return so that I have rare skins ehee
I'm still mad that I forgot to buy the Season 2 Starter pack back then
Finally someone saying this truth. even I spent money on this game. cause it’s fair I never spend money on f2p games
not only does this game have the best store.
The Finals perfected microtransactions because they are generous, honest and they offer quality.
its almost like Infinite's store/ armory but... without the expensive prices
