What if the destruction of the cursed realm and jinjago destabilized the connections between other realms even more? In s6, Nadakhan's father mentioned that if one of the reams is destroyed, the other would go with it. That would actually make sense with the merge since with 2 realms gone the other would be at risk.

Interesting theory but don't forget that in the Dragonstone Shrine set there are some interesting stickers depicting master Wu that maybe could have some relation to this event that caused the merge if the episode descriptions are true and Wu actually caused it.
I have a theory about Ras's master. Since jay has seemingly transferred from the administration to the wolf clan (his evil jay mini fig), I felt as there was a connection between those two, and the true leader of both, (Ras's master and the administrator) is unknown. Maybe they're both led by Ras's master, who we can't know his true identity.
I thought that black Kimono was his father's? But I agree with this theory, it's solid and would show how truly connected Wu and Garmadon are to Ninjago's balance. Also I want to add, he KNEW Jay was adopted AND so much about Cole's mom and while Cole has no need to be mad at Wu for his mom...Jay on the other hand or the other Ninja at least could be mad at him for keeping something as important as your literal family legacy secret.
My theory is that the staff in the first spunjitzuasters tomb in season 5. The one in the a spinjitzu master cannot test. I think that that staff was a dragon icon and ras visited the tomb and as he isn't a spinjitzu master he retrieved the golden staff and used that staff to summon a source dragon as the staff was a dragon icon

Wu and his family pretty much caused everything that happened in Ninjago, Lloyd released the serpentine, which released Pythor, who helped Chen bring back the other Anacondrai, Lloyd caused the havoc The Great Devourer did, and killed Harumi's parents and gave birth to the vermilion warriors, Garmadon killed many people in hunted and sons of Garmadon, and Wu caused the merge, Garmadon is the reason why Clouse is evil, and Clouse released Nadakhan, and Wu promised Morro to be the green ninja, but made him disappointed instead, Wu taught Aspheera spinjitzu, and she overthrown King Mambo, and its technically Wu's fault why Zane became a tyrant in the never realm. Wu, Garmadon, and Lloyd are probably why all the problems happened.

I have a theory as to how the merge could have been caused here me out on this one. But what if Loyd defeating the overlord in cristilised didn’t just defeat him but actually destroyed him. As such what if the balence was never truly restored but was shifted strongly in favour of creation and that some how caused the merge. What if the overlord isn’t just a darkness that threatens ninjago but something the relm needs as a sort of counterweight to the power of the first spinjitsu master and losing that dark side of the balence weakens the relm and may some how caused the merge
yeah of i thought of that too in additon of the theory that the overlod is the bad side of the fsm and as he destroyed it he destroyed the fsms half and so the fsm could peacefully die and the threat that causes wu to cause the merge, because the fsm was the only thing that kept that threat away and now only all realms united could stop it "family is key" and "united we are strong" are quotes of wu before the merge
I think Wu was also sort of the cause Moro became a ghost which led to the events of possession which led to Moro and Lloyd dimension hopping with the gem which could also be another cause.
Even if it’s the portal that kickstarted the merge, it was actually the Overlord that possessed the Great Devourer to turn Garmadon evil which then made him battle Wu, so it actually be the Overlord who caused the merge.
It is probably because the ninjas sacrificed their powers in crystallised and summoned the elemental dragon who faded away.This could of meant that the dragon cores energy was drained to give the ninjas their powers

The only person according to this theory that knew this could be garmadon. And garmadon is also strenght fixed, which could sum up ras' hunger for strenght. 😅
Master Wu got the kimono from his father, good theory but I think about what if when Wu defeated The hands of time and the whole thing became like space without gravity? And that caused the merge? What if the 16 realms used to be one big world before the realms were separated into their own world. However, something bad happened which caused or forced the lands to split into the realms something like a great war or an even greater threat that would destroy all the realms. When the merge happens it not only brought the realms together but its original state thousands of years ago. if lord Ras’s master is the very same threat that caused the realms to separate and is now gathering an army that's big enough to take over other realms similar to Morro bringing the Preeminent to Ninjago to curse all the realms or the Oni came to Ninjago and turn everyone into stone If that happens the Ninja need all the help they can get not only for a final battle but to prepare for a war where the realms come together and fight for their freedom. Not like the one from Tournament of Elements or from Crystalized but a real war between realms If Wu really did cause the merge, what if that was for a purpose after receiving a vision from the source dragons of a powerful force that is powerful enough to destroy and take over the realms one by one as they are powerless against this threat only. the source dragon of balance sacrifices their life to prevent this threat from causing more harm to the realms which is why Lord Ras said that Wu caused the merge, he didn't kill the source dragon but he was responsible for their death. In the flashbacks, Wu said something about “Only Unity can save us” and “ family is key”. The merge brought the realms together as they needed to be united to face this threat together. This gives the Ninja time to travel and help protect the other merged realms and train a new generation of ninjas to prepare for an upcoming war that is going to happen

Dude, we are all missing out the detail that in pilot series, Garmadon escaped after Samukai used the golden weapons, but in crystallized, they were seriously destroyed, exploding their energy to form Golden Ultra Dragon (Capital because of it being a name) and then fading away.

yeah of i thought of that too in additon of the theory that the overlod is the bad side of the fsm and as he destroyed it he destroyed the fsms half and so the fsm could peacefully die and the threat that causes wu to cause the merge, because the fsm was the only thing that kept that threat away and now only all realms united could stop it "family is key" and "united we are strong" are quotes of wu before the merge

Even if it’s the portal that kickstarted the merge, it was actually the Overlord that possessed the Great Devourer to turn Garmadon evil which then made him battle Wu, so it actually be the Overlord who caused the merge.

What if the 16 realms used to be one big world before the realms were separated into their own world. However, something bad happened which caused or forced the lands to split into the realms something like a great war or an even greater threat that would destroy all the realms. When the merge happens it not only brought the realms together but its original state thousands of years ago.
if lord Ras’s master is the very same threat that caused the realms to separate and is now gathering an army that's big enough to take over other realms similar to Morro bringing the Preeminent to Ninjago to curse all the realms or the Oni came to Ninjago and turn everyone into stone
If that happens the Ninja need all the help they can get not only for a final battle but to prepare for a war where the realms come together and fight for their freedom. Not like the one from Tournament of Elements or from Crystalized but a real war between realms
If Wu really did cause the merge, what if that was for a purpose after receiving a vision from the source dragons of a powerful force that is powerful enough to destroy and take over the realms one by one as they are powerless against this threat only. the source dragon of balance sacrifices their life to prevent this threat from causing more harm to the realms which is why Lord Ras said that Wu caused the merge, he didn't kill the source dragon but he was responsible for their death.
In the flashbacks, Wu said something about “Only Unity can save us” and “ family is key”.
The merge brought the realms together as they needed to be united to face this threat together. This gives the Ninja time to travel and help protect the other merged realms and train a new generation of ninjas to prepare for an upcoming war that is going to happen
