Today, another random book article reminded to come look at this video again after a few years... because I actually have been to this book store now, and helped them with some computer problems. It's like I met a celebrity.
Just found this amazing short film mentioned in Jen Campbell's 'The Bookshop Book'. Loved it! Thanks to all the volunteers and creative folk for making such a wonderfully colourful and imaginative film to celebrate the joy of books 📚 😊
I was doing a cleanup of my favorite video list and I clicked the delete button one too many times, accidentally getting rid of this. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, because I had to come back here to re-favorite it and ended up watching the video a few times through. This video never fails to make me smile. :)
Brilliant!!! I saw this at a bookstore in West Stockbridge, MA. They were playing it as a celebration and thought it wasn't avaiable online. I am sooo ecstatic to be able to share with other people! Thank you!!
This video is amazing! I'm one of those who adore the feeling of a book in my hands, as opposed to a tablet. The heft of the book, turning the pages, and most importantly the embossing or different textures on the covers and pages. Long live actual books.
My revision course asked us to take a look at this video our first week. I love it! Cant wait to share it. Loved the music too. All the wondeful hours I've spent with my nose in a book being transported hither and you and now it's my turn to create a journey for someone else to take! I hope one day my book winds up at TYPE!
Gorgeous animation! There truly is nothing quite like a real book. No digital copy will ever come as close to the heart as a well loved paperback with its worn spine and well-flipped pages, that comforting book smell that seems to relax away all worries... If we're honest with ourselves though, something does have to be said for being able to fit an entire library of "dancing" literary masterpieces in the palm of your hand via ebook reader... its a book-lovers dream.
An amazing way to get in the soul of books. A very funny way to show your bookshop to the world. In Buenos Aires it was recently shown this night on tv at main night news program, as a creative way for selling and spending time with imagination. Thank you so much, cause books are alive and make us dream and fly always !
My class actually made a stop-motion film of our classroom. It was inspired by this. I showed this video to my teacher in late December and she loved it so much, she showed it to every teacher that was in their classroom at the time. We just have to wait for the principal's reply to see if we can post it on youtube or not. Lol the only reason I made this account was so that I could post it before my other classmates.
absolutely delightful...I'd love to witness THE JOY OF BOOKS dance in person;) we have run out out of room on our bookshelves and our CDs...one cannot PART with any...all the kids are gone so can't send them off, 2 cats and bunny are too precious...time for a new bookshelf...I want a dancing one ;)
I started reading with 20, two years ago .. and i must say reading changes your personality and the way your think so much. Some of them offer so much value which can improve your life over time. Sadly enough I did not start earlier reading.
@MsILOVE1DIRECTION I didn't really like reading either when I was in school. For me it came a bit later in life.... when I wasn't being forced to do it!
I sometimes wonder if reading is a waste of time... and then I see this, and go NOPE reading is time well spent compared to this. I do think it is amazing, don't get me wrong! But... I'd rather be reading lol
Wow, this is like watching "Fantasia", knowing how incredibly much work lies behind every little movement of every single object! Wonderful video, it makes me so happy to watch it!
This stop motion is amazing and really beautiful. Nothing will replace real books. Your video crossed the ocean and is now famous in France. Once again, all my congratulations!
This is one of the best time lapse video that I have ever seen. Just watching the few seconds made me realize that there was so much work and effort was put to this by a group of people just to prove a point. Thank you for this and I hope more and more people discover the joys or reading a book.
I worked as a bookshelver for a while at B & N and Borders. And three years at a large library. That looked like a *lot* of work. I can't even guess how long it took. All those people volunteered to move those? Amazing.
I appreciate my kindle when travelling around with a heavy rucksack but nothing beats a real book. I love filling my shelves with beautiful books. I love libraries and bookshops and if I didn't live on the other side of the globe I'd pop into your shop...magical animation!
I couldn't wait to pass this work of art along to our school's librarian! She really enjoyed the video. I'm just amazed and in awe of the dedication, time, and creativity that the folks must have to undertake and complete such an enormous project. Well done!
while backpacking in EU in early 70's, stayed at Shakespeare and Company, Paris for a week. George would kick all the 'guests' -students- out at noon, and allow us all back at midnight. The shop came alive at midnight with students sweeping the dirt floor, filing books and finally cooking 'dinner' at 1 am.
This is so beautifully rendered. It makes me want to hug the books in my library. (Actually I already do that, but you get the drift). Thanks for what must have been endless hours producing this. The music is absolutely perfect. Bravo!
I once had an artistic brother that passed away at a very young age. One of his projects -shortly before he got ill- was to turn his living quarters completely white. He painted almost everything and turned all his hundreds of books backwards on their shelves, so he only saw the white sides. This beautiful video reminds me of him. Thank you!
This is amazing!! Oh my goodness! Everything is perfect! From the music to the video to the books! a world of knowledge and imagination is in that store! And you just captured it! Bravo!
This reminds me of a Warner Brothers' cartoon from either the 30's or 40's, "How do we know it's Sunday," in which the characters on the labels of this general store come to life on a Sunday, when the store was closed! Anyway, as a retired bookseller, I really appreciate this beautiful video!
Every book I open reveals a new world for me to explore and fall in love with. There is no greater joy like immersing yourself in a book and losing all track of time.
This is one of the best and most creative stop-motion videos I've ever seen. It is utterly awesome the way you cptures the feeling of a good bookstore. It was a nice touch including Victor Van Dort at 0:20.. :)
Thank you very much for your wonderful work - and for love to books and reading! It is always so pleasant to meet a friend, who holds the same views as we do and who shares our ideas and views! Best wishes for cold, but friendly Russia :-)
I just bought a bookstore 2 days ago.. and your beautiful video just made me cry a little bit.... So happy to be part of getting real actual page-turning books into the hands of readers!
WOW. So amazing. I cannot even fathom how much time and effort went into animating this. 0:57 gave me chills. Thank you for sharing this creativity and message.
Really brilliant; a wonderful second joy to start my day, a day that first found me dragging myself from the rack. Thanks! Can't imagine the work that went into that glorious dance!
I've been such a bookworm for as long as I can remember (since my parents took a photo of me reading a book when I was 3 or 4) that I truly can't imagine life and being able to enjoy it as much without books!!
This is soooo cooool!!! I join the others in saying I love books! I can't imagine the time and work it must have taken to set this up, but oh what a joy to watch all the dancing books, doing their own thing while your backs were turned lol!! thanks for sharing.
this video signifies what life, and being human, is all about. it is clear that many, many eyes and hands and heads and hearts came together to create this captivating clip. life is art. art is creation. and regardless of what was done here, something NEW was created. the profundity lies in the fact that books mirror life. i hope to see more like this one!
I ADORE this; have watched it about 5 times so far(and have shared it at wordpress...)WONDERFUL, from the tiny details(like the cookbooks going from main course dessert, etc) and the piano and the books with the dancers (Fred Astaire, I think) dancing together...(one day I will come out to Toronto and buy a zillion of your books...)
Wow, I have to give so much credit to everyone who made this. This must've taken forever, and I know how annoying stop motion can get at points. But obviously, the finished product is worth all of the time and effort, this was an amazing video!!! Great job!

Totally agree, the magic you can find in a book is priceless....love this video!
What an enormous undertaking to make this project happen! Being a life-long bibliophile, I just want to thank you for this beautiful and creative video! So amazing!
Thank you so very, very much for sharing this video and creating it. It's more than inspiring : ) When I watch it, I'm filled with wonder. I'm looking forward to sharing this with my friends, fellow teachers and students for a long time to come.
Good question. Who could really dislike this? Seriously, this is one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. I appreciate all the hard work this must have entailed and would love to know how it was done. What a treat. Definitely gong up on my kids book review site.
What wonderful minds to think up something so "lively" and cute. Growing up we were taught at home that abook will take you every where and anywhere and is your best friend. I agree and have passed that on to my children. I am excited about the Kindles because I have access to different authors that I might not have met otherwise. I winter in a 5th wheel camper and now I can bring a little of everyone with me.
Love this video!! I love books!! I love just standing by my bookshelves and picking out one to read. It may be one I have read before, or I may be looking for something specific. I worked in a bookstore for 5 years, just for the conversations I was privey to based on other's love for books. I learned a lot and got a great discount. I do use the internet for some research, but there is still nothing like reading a BOOK. :)
the video is amazing , the music , the movement of books on shelf , on the desk , really loved the video.....and yeah I like books so would definitely love to visit a library with so many options....:) :)
Although I love science and math, I posted this to my site the other week in hopes to inspire folks to pick up a book and enjoy the wonders hidden within! Pick up a book, read something, and share it with a friend.
Wow! This video must have been really hard to make! I wouldn't have the patience to do this kind of thing. Love!
Today, another random book article reminded to come look at this video again after a few years... because I actually have been to this book store now, and helped them with some computer problems. It's like I met a celebrity.
i dont know what ive just watched but it was a masterpiece
This must be one of the best things I've seen on TH-cam ever.
"There's nothing quite like a real book." So very true!
As soon as those books turned when the door opens I was like: "this is about to be freakin awesome" lol
Just found this amazing short film mentioned in Jen Campbell's 'The Bookshop Book'. Loved it! Thanks to all the volunteers and creative folk for making such a wonderfully colourful and imaginative film to celebrate the joy of books 📚 😊
Yeah. Me too. Found the video through her book.
5 years later and I still adore this video and its music😌

I can't say anything, cause this video is so awesome...
simply wonderful ❤
Four very, very long nights! :)
Sometimes there isn't a point to things except to share talent and beauty and books are beautiful. You did an awesome job on this video!!! Love it
No amount of ad space in a newspaper or magazine or on TV can match the impact of this! Amazing.
This is so visually satisfying
Cool

28 animators working nights when the book shop was closed !

So clever, so beautiful and the music is perfection to the mood and ambiance!
I just love how the music accentuates how perfect this is. Magical

This is so beautifully made, I watched it over an over the past few years! Thanks you so much!
Beautiful! A wonderful tribute to the real book. Thank you for making this!

I am in love with this video
This video is amazing! The colors all clash perfectly. And at the end, I could feel my spine tingling...
Brilliant--I share this with my friends all the time because I love it so much. Bravo!

That´s amazing ! I think the books are vibrating with life and joy ! Congratulations!
This is sheer pleasure and just what we need here in England where we are desperate to save small bookshops and libraries.
WOW.

I read about this video in a book titled "The Bookshop Book" by Jen Campbell. Kudos to Type Bookshop and kudos to Jen. [With love from Tanzania].

beautifully made :) i LOVE reading books, its one of my favorite things to do, actual books with pages to flip and the book smell to smell
There's nothing like a real book... The natural smell of it, and the feeling you get when hugging it after you've finished reading... :)
What an enormous undertaking to make this project happen! Being a life-long bibliophile, I just want to thank you for this beautiful and creative video! So amazing!

Love Type Books. We stoped there and did an event on my book tour for THE LISTENER graphic novel.
You guys are awesome! Loved both videos and Australia is following you intently!
I went to the book store earlier to buy a 'Where's Wally' book. When I got there, I couldn't find the book anywhere.
Well played Wally, well played.
This video should win an award! Excellent job and very creative!
that was probably the greatest thing I've ever seen! I'm going to go watch that about 10 more times now...
This is a piece of art! I love it. Way to go guys, and way to put your point across so beautifully.
Still love this from way back when I worked at Barnes and Noble. ❤😆
Love it!!! Thanks for taking the time to make this clip.
