YHF was my first real exposure to the band and will always be my No 1. Pot Kettle Black is my favorite Wilco song all time. Wish they still played it live. Love when Tom says it sends him to a specific time and place….
Tom Williams really getting some big name guest stars lately. This is a rough ranking off the top of my head, I didn't relisten to these this week. 1. Being There 2. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 3. Summerteeth 4. A Ghost is Born 5. Wilco The Album 6. The Whole Love 7. A.M. 8. Star Wars 9. Sky Blue Sky 10. Schmilco 11. Cruel Country 12. Ode to Joy Where I probably deviate from most people is having Being There at #1 -- it has my favorite Wilco songs, and I like how varied the sound is -- and having Sky Blue Sky low -- I just think it's a snoozefest outside of "Impossible Germany" and a couple other tracks. All these are 3+ stars with the top 3 being 5 star albums though.
Nice, learned a bunch. Here's my ratings of the ones I know: Being There- "10" (I very, very much stan this album and very happy for V's support, and honestly #4 is fine enough too Tom, have seen plenty put it lower) Yankee Hotel Foxtrot- "9" Summerteeth- "9" Ghost is Born- "8" Star Wars- "7" I know bits and pieces of elsewhere but those are my full listens
1 yankee hotel foxtrot 2 Being There 3 Summerteeth. Best songs are Jesus, etc, I'm Trying to Break your heart, the live studio version of Impossible Germany, Box full of letters, Outtasight.
Exceptional band, Tweedy is an amazing writer and Bennet/Cline are amazing guitarists. Not a bad record in the catalog, although only one truly reaches a 5 star for me. 12. Cruel Country - 3.5 11. Star Wars - 3.5 10. Ode To Joy - 3.5 9. A Ghost Is Born - 4 Stars 8. Being There - 4 Stars 7. Summerteeth - 4 Stars 6. Schmilco - 4 Stars 5. Wilco (The Album) - 4.5 Stars 4. The Whole Love - 4.5 Stars 3. A.M. - 4.5 Stars 2. Sky Blue Sky - 4.5 Stars 1. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - 5 Stars
@@MusicMeltdown567 Nels is better guitar player, for sure, but Bennett was a great songwriter in his own right and he and Tweedy working together made a great team.
Man...I can totally see Schmilco being kind of forgettable for some, as the whole thing has a similar vibe which is a mellow one. Star Wars on the other hand, I think almost every single song is unique. Also seeing Ode to Joy so early in the video is heartbreaking. I adore that album. It gives me the same kind of vibe that A Ghost is Born did which is my absolute favorite. I also got to see the band in a tiny record store in Nashville playing Ode to Joy songs, and I got to stand literally two feet from them, which makes it extra memorable. It seems to me that Wilco has some albums where my impression of them stays about the same on the 10th listen compared to the 1st, but then there are some where they just keep getting better and better the more I hear them and the songs keep revealing new things. A Ghost is Born, YHF, Ode to Joy and even the new one Cousin I think fall into this latter category. I would strongly suggest anyone not digging on Ode to Joy or Cousin to give them some more listens!
I'm relatively new to Wilco, you might have to get the pitchforks out again because I think Yankee foxtrot hotel is overrated. Yes I think it's a good album but I have a few albums ahead of it... I absolutely love being there I think that's their best album, also love cruel country and I'm really enjoying cousins album
Welcome to the co-host gang Vanessa 🎉
Thanks Sam!

Being There and Summerteeth criminally low. The Jay Bennett era is the best era.
@@edgustafson I like Being There and Summerteeth a lot still, I just really love a lot of the Nels Cline Era.
@@MusicMeltdown567 Nels is better guitar player, for sure, but Bennett was a great songwriter in his own right and he and Tweedy working together made a great team.
@@edgustafson Absolutely correct, the writing on most records is always great though. So I don't really feel the loss is overly substantial

Great job yous twos. Thanks for not calling me out by name regarding Star Wars. YHF is my favorite cuz I'm basic! Don't forget to like and subscribe!
