Amazing performance, but it was not broadcast on Lettermans late night tv show. Live on Letterman was a concert series performed in the Ed Sullivan Theater (Lettermans set) and were streamed on the CBS website. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_on_Letterman
The greatest part about this band is that it is truly a sum of its parts. Every member brings something unique to the table and its greatness exists because they all came together.
Fucking Pat Sansone. What more can you say? Every time you look, he's playing a different instrument, or singing sweet harmonies. And who can even look half as cool as he does while doing it? The man is simply a polymathic badass.
Love this song album or live like so many Wilco Jams. Enjoy Jeff Tweedy loosening up, just singing and dancing to this and certain other tunes doing his own Bono but with many trees.
A lot of times Paul Shaffer would sit in with bands during performances. I get the feeling that when he heard Wilco was coming on he went "sure I'll sit in. What song are they doing?" then when he was told Art of Almost his response was "Um, okay, never mind. I have a hair appointment at that time".
I just saw a video from Reverb and Tweedy talking about it. It's a signature model for Tweedy and is apparently called "Blue Mist" and is darker than Pelham Blue.
No Jag during this performance. Nels is scratching a Fender Jazzmaster. Heavier with a longer neck and different pickups, and strings beyond the bridge)
How the fuck are there more views of this video on VEVO than here? Who doesn't know how to not watch fucking ads? I've never seen one stinking ad on youtube and would rather die than watch an ad. Song of The Year, btw, it's the new LA Woman for driving your car way too fast song.
Sounds like a dying fish flopping on a piano keyboard. It's almost irritating. Glad Tweedy got real with basic melodies and a repeating chorus, like Tom Petty did. This electronic jazz crap needs to go. Enough already.
Nels is the greatest guitarist i have ever seen live .i have seen them live three times and it is a life changing experience
correct hes outdoing jack white maybe aso Page etc
nels is sooooo subtle when he sits back in the mix. what a band. america's best non-jazz band.
One of the wildest live songs ever captured on late night tv. My set melted. And it was worth every note. Keep rocking Wilco!
It just appeared in my feed and Holy Shit !

i just want to give props to that dang bass-line, just cool cool cool.
BUM, BUM, Ba da, BUM BUm Bum bum. I hear it in my head all the time.

This is why I miss Letterman. He appreciates musicians and he gave groups his stage to reach people that might not have ever known their music.
I remember hearing Neko case on his show and it changed my fucking LIFE
Love how that rapid organ cuts through the mix so much more than the album. It's downright percussive.
This is one of the best live performances by any band on TV. Period.
Holy Lord. What a gift. What a performance. This isn’t even one of their better songs and they grip you with their greatness.
Probably one of the most amazing live performances I have ever seen on yt...regards from Germany
Your Impossible
This might be my favorite Wilco song. Hell, it might even be in my top 10 GOAT
The same writer of Casino Queen, Monday, I Can't Stand It, Heavy Metal Drummer, Theologians, Impossible Germany, Bull Black Nova. Bring on Cousin 👍
I can't stop listen to this song over and over again. Absolutely amazing.
I didn’t get the “American Radiohead” label until I saw this. And Nels is from another planet.
Radiohead are the British wilco
I keep coming back to this live version on Letterman. It always renews my faith. Live music, that was incendiary! It gets me every time.
Love this song album or live like so many Wilco Jams. Enjoy Jeff Tweedy loosening up, just singing and dancing to this and certain other tunes doing his own Bono but with many trees.
late for work again....thanks Wilco !
my favorite wilco video always have tweedy half dancing on the stage with no guitar
Kick ass jam! What a great kit....so shiny and chrome.
And to think, no one initially dug Jorgensen's suggestion to double up the tempo at the end. It's insane.
It feels like the door of an airlock in space I'm just being blown off. Just unimpeachably memorable
Hell, here we are over a decade later.
I still say…. The 22 people that thumbs downed are unemployed speed metal drummers
Hahaha... NAILED
Alternative
Tweedy playing his signature SG I love the look of it. I wanttttt
Last I heard it was for sale at Chicago Music Exchange.
Nels made a guitar chenge, jeff grabbed one wll while nels is playing his pedals. Greatest band in America

Listening to this live is a mystic experience. Unfortunately they didn't play it the last time I saw them.
They should totally do a "Wilco Shreds" kind of video based on this performance. So many zany sounds!
Most people don't even know...🤘
That bass line!
Brilliant band
Mind blown!! ♡♡♡♡
çok güzel , very good.Greetings from Turkei :)
6:13 on..everytime😁 lightyears ahead of the years w/ late gr8 Jay Bennet(t)…
just mad about these drums !!!
They're amazing
Nels Cline rips it!!!
Wilco at their 2nd Zenith
Oh, that Pelham Blue SG, my god.
How about a little love for the green Hagstrom?!?
I just saw a video from Reverb and Tweedy talking about it. It's a signature model for Tweedy and is apparently called "Blue Mist" and is darker than Pelham Blue.
that's Hopf, not Hagstrom, tho Nels has said (in pre-Wilco days) that he's got some Hagstroms for open tunings.
Awsome⭐️☀️⭐️
THE BESTEST
El teclista del grupo es Buenafuente
Jaguar,SG, Telecaster, virus T1, Nord, sonor, Jazzbass + Wilco= Excellence
Nels was playing his '59 "WATT" Jazzmaster, not a Jaguar. I believe the green one he played at the beginning was a Hopf.
No Jag during this performance. Nels is scratching a Fender Jazzmaster. Heavier with a longer neck and different pickups, and strings beyond the bridge)
That's a Lakland "Vintage P" series bass.

Well done.
Über cool drum kit
THIS IS SPAAAAARRRRTTTAAAA!!!!
WOW!!
Playing Le Guess Who? next year! They just announced it.
I think i went somewhere i have never been.
pink floyd radiohead MMJ Wilco......
This song is so fucking hard to play on drums lol
6:38
I was so afraid they wouldn't have a safe landing
It's really cool that Jason Bateman is their drummer
No way, he's Martin Freeman
my cat!
I feel like Nels is gonna have a seizure at the end.
anyone know which amp heads they are all using here ? I can't make out the name but they all have them , kind of cool design and sound.
nels runs Schroeders i believe
@@coleemmersonhallman5329 awesome thanks
any chance you have the rest of the live on letterman broadcast?
trip
Wilco doesn't suck.
I really wanted to see jeff boogey..but he refrained :(
it must take a day just to set all their shit up wow
Jeff still hasn't washed his hair..
Did I just see zombies at the crowd ? Why dont they Jump or something !!!!
They're listening.
There was one dude bobbing up and down
What the £¥€K did I just watch?
Genius. Pure genius.
I never got the American Radiohead label with Wilco. They as a band can play impressively in any genre
Radiohead can not.
yet wilco has 2 good albums, while radiohead has 7.
@@ts-wo6pp Wilco has far more than 2 good albums
.
....
On point?
Cool tune and a great band no doubt. These guys always try too hard tho.
Almost sounds like Devo, only boring.
Sounds like a dying fish flopping on a piano keyboard. It's almost irritating. Glad Tweedy got real with basic melodies and a repeating chorus, like Tom Petty did. This electronic jazz crap needs to go. Enough already.
Adapt Jeff, adapt. You'll then enjoy another kind of greatness.
late for work again... Thanks Wilco !!
