Y'wot?! I took an ancestry dna test and I had over 20,000 matches, many of which proves that my ancestry on paper is not as "clean" as it seems. Many Brits in centuries past have hidden countless sexual flings, affairs and more secrets right to their grave until today, where I've come to realise the nationalistic fervor is nothing but a cover.

I’ve known the lyrics to this song since I was about 7 years old:.. it’s always been my grandma’s favourite song, she was 8 on VE Day, her dad was a LCPL in the royal logistic corps during ww2.... my husband is now a LCPL too.
My grandma is now in a care home because she has Alzheimer’s, she tested positive for COVID19 this week, I’ve listened to this song so many times, I’m praying she pulls through so we actually get the chance to meet again, even just one more time! The care assistants are absolute angels!

I remember my late mum telling me of when she was a child going to the railway station in Newcastle to see her father off to war. Her father was a 39 year old career solder who had joined the RAMC as a boy - it was 1939/40 and the British Army was moving to France. He was later evacuated from Dunkirk and survived the war rank Captain. My mum spoke of how the train station was filled with thousands of troops and after emotion had prevented her from speaking more, I realised she was trying to tell me that the soldiers had all began to sing.

I have only recently discovered Katherine Jenkins. Unfortunately I suffer from a condition called treatment resistant depression. As the name of this condition suggests my depression is almost constant however when I hear Katherine Jenkins sing (especially Christian hymns) my depression lifts for a short period. I thank you Katherine from the bottom of my heart and will always be in your debt. Sincerely thankyou.

What a beautiful 75th commemoration of VE day during a sad broken World! God bless Queen Elizabeth and Kathryn Jenkins. Love from South Africa xx

Such a beautiful song and performance by everyone, very heart warming x i just wish they would have included our other very important emergency service that are working so very very hard in a tough and often thankless job. Our Police Force. They are risking themselves and their families too. I know a few officers that saw this and do feel utterly forgotten and dejected throughout this crisis. Please support our officers too x

I am so glad Dame Vera Lynn lived just long enough to see the 75th anniversary of VE Day. Her song “We’ll Meet Again” is just as powerful, emotional and moving now as it was then, so many years ago now. She was the last well known person from the war still living on the anniversary and before too long the War will have passed from memory of anyone living today into history.

My great-grandmother was British and I got to have her in my life in Oklahoma for almost 6 years...my favorite accent is from anywhere in the UK, my favorite shows are found on Britbox and Acorn, and this VE celebration is one of the best I've ever seen - VE Day was May 8, 1945 and I was born May 30, 1946. This did bring tears to my eyes and I would not change it for an instant. So far, I've listened to it at least 5 times and am sharing it on my FB page...Did I mention that I am proud my DNA is 38%...I know, I had nothing to do with it, but it explains a lot...!
