    I'm starting to get into MotoGP and everywhere I'd go this specific race would be brought up in some capacity. I'd only known what had happened in Sepang, so the additional context before that is great in contextualizing what had happened. As someone new to MotoGP, I don't see how Rossi comes out this favourably. The fact that he publicly berated and accused Marquez rather than discuss privately rubs me the wrong way honestly.

    • @giap8305
      @giap8305 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Discuss privately? He actually said that he tried asking Marquez directly on why he was doing that, but he received no answer. He hoped that calling him out publicly was the right thing to do, hoping that he would stop; but that didn't happen.

      Rossi was really dumb and contradictory, but he did not kick marquez off his bike. Marc leaned over and that is what ultimately caused the crash. But he only was in that position because of Rossi's bad move to push him out. Bikes weigh about 150KG a kick whilst being sat on a bike is not going to knock over a bike

      Rossi didn't kick anyone mate, even before Valentino touched Marquez, Marc was already going down, you can see that better through the aerial view, and also, if Valentino is the only wrong one in that situation, it makes no sense to have Lorenzo's father saying that Rossi didn't do anything wrong there, I mean, it's Lorenzo's dad, the one who would have more than enough reasons to blame and attack Rossi as his son is one of his biggest rivals, he said he watched that video over and over again and in his opinion, Marc was way too aggressive with some of the moves, think whatever you want, but if Rossi kicked Marc, which he didn't, MM93 deserved it.

      Kick or no kick, you cannot deliberately slow another down by intentionally pushing him so wide by slowing down yourself.
      If you are fast enough, then why? Go fight wheel to wheel. Thats racing.
      If its okay then why break checking is wrong?

    Can't be objective as a Marquez fan, but I think the only race in which he helped Lorenzo (a rider with whom he had had conflicts in the past, far from someone he'd want to help) was Valencia, and I can't blame him. He got literally kicked off his bike for just trying to race and had Rossi turn his entire fanbase (which comprises a HUGE percentage of MotoGP fans to this day) against him. Grandstands filled with Rossi fans cheered every time Marquez crashed for years after (we're talking about someone falling off a bike at high speed). He and Lorenzo needed security to escort them, and even now it's not hard to find people talking about Marquez's serious injuries in the last few years as "karma" for 2015.
    Also the fact he accused Pedrosa of all people of racing him too aggressively made me lol, didn't remember that one. Rossi has my eternal respect as one of the GOATs of racing, but off the track I've been extremely dissappointed with the guy, ever since that happened.

    Vale treated with silk gloves by race direction throughout this season. He didn't deserve to even be in the fight in the closing stages. And then he humiliated MM93 in the Sepang pre-event press conference, in a blatant attempt at mind games. Which completely backfired. What other rider would not have reacted like Marc, and not sabotaged Rossi from then on?! Don't get me wrong, Rossi always provided for great entertainment both on and off track. So I miss him, there's no drama in today's MotoGP. But to say that Marc robbed him of a 10th title? No, he did that to himself. And brilliantly so.

    The only one to blame for this is Rossi himself.
    Had he let Marquez go in Malaysia he would still have had the lead in the Championship and would have been able to start in a good Position in Valencia.
    But he didn't, he kicked Marquez, got the Penalty he deserved and well.. that was it.
    Wether Marquez helped Lorenzo in the last race or not i dont know. But part of me couldn't blame him if he did.
    I think Rossi knew that this might be his last chance for a Championship and that made him paranoid.
    Edit. Its actually kinda crazy that Marquez was the "bigger man" here. He fucked up, admitted it and tried to apologize (not once, twice).

    Following Marc's back to back wins at Aragon and Misano, Rossi chose to play up 2015 perhaps in the hope of messing up Marc's title challenge. It didn't work on Marc in 2015 and it sure as hell won't work on Marc now.

  • @motorsportfanboy7769
    @motorsportfanboy7769 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great docu as per! I remember how this all went down and the shock I got when he accused and essentially questioned Marc’s racing integrity and that clearly did not sit well with Marc and I still maintain how while he was aggressive, he didn’t broke any rules so there’s no need to punish him . I also do agree had that been any other rider did what Rossi did, it should’ve been a DQ. But yeah, I think the paranoia just got to him in the end and the fact he tried to play mind games against someone who’s will to win is as high if not higher than him is a bad decision to do

    • @giap8305
      @giap8305 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you've misunderstood what happened there. Because, obviously, if Rossi actually kicked Marquez that would've been a horrible thing to do, completely unfair, but I think starting last from the grid was enough of a punishment. The thing is Rossi didn't actually kick Marquez: first of all, you'd need superhuman strenght in order to kick 150kgs + 60kgs of bike and rider, and the direction of the crash isn't the right one. The truth is that Marquez crashed on purpose and got Rossi punished for it.

    "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction" (Newton's third Law). Never mind that Marquez was leaning into Rossi (hard to ouch over at that angle), if there had been a "kick" that sent Marquez down, Rossi would have been going down in the opposite direction. The view from above shows that Ross's bike didn't even waver ergo...no kick. I say this as a fan of racing, and not of any rider in particular, neither Rossi nor Marquez.

      How so? It was one of the most epic races in recent memory, with intense figthing between four riders who exchanged positions constantly throughout the race. in fact, Vale's compatriot and friend Iannone was super aggressive and in one of the overtakes he was only centimeters from taking Vale out. Marc in turn beat Lorenzo on the last lap, after no longer having to preserve his overheating front tyre. That overtake in the final sector robbed Jorge of 5 valuable championship points in the fight against Rossi. To make out from all of this that Marc was trying to help Jorge takes a truly paranoid and unwell mind.

    It's wild how so few focus on the magnitude of what Marquez did. Rossi said some things. No. 93 took clear action on track to sabotage The Doctor, from stalking him in practice sessions to surprisingly losing his will to go for the race win at Valencia. This was over the span of weeks. The season had been a huge success, with races breaking attendance records to watch the title fight. Marquez flushed all this down the toilet in service to his personal agenda. He got away with it too.
