Monotropism is my current special interest. People here will be able to relate to "hitting the bottom of the well" on TH-cam where people's information starts to repeat each other on our special interest. After about 4 videos that don't bring new information it is time to start more active research.

    Wow great
    Thanks Kelly
Trying to find the right ways to advocate for my daughter while she’s struggling with the classroom and her problems not recognised by teachers because she achieves highly academically
Thanks for putting these ideas into a simplified style for us
I don’t want her to miss out and struggle the way I did at school due to me being dyspraxic

Monotropism is misunderstood, people just see the mono thinking, but they don't quite grasp how non-mono life is. So I can concentrate on coordinating my body or I can worry about picking up my kid, I can't do both, so most of the time I walk, standstill and do the thinking about picking up the kid, then walk and that is an INSANE limit of your daily life, the loss of efficiency is gigantic.
Hyperfocus just make it go to catastrophic levels, I can't change focus enough to live a normal 24 hour life, as I just don't have enough focus shift in a day, to deal with the number of items life requires.

Thank you for sharing about your experience. This is not an aspect of monotropism that I’ve heard described before but it makes a lot of sense.
