I swear I think Captain Newland just stands there with his hand on the horn button and a silly grin on his face knowing everyone loves his #BarkerBark.
I swear you are correct! 😁
Why does her salutes bring tears to my eyes? 😂 Awesome!!
Thanks!
Wish I could answer that. I don't even know why it brings tears to mine!!! It's my ringtone too!
Never tire of hearing the Barker barking her horns 😊. Excellent video/capture of her as always, Paul 👌
Many thanks!
Hearing this live is life changing. You can't describe it fully
The Barker’s Bark is a sound of heaven !
Nice!
I was there early on the 22nd when she departed - and boy did she wake Duluth UP!! Trying to figure out the hertz of her horn - it resonates somewhere deep within my soul…
Next 1 I post of the Barker will have the story behind the salute! The Captain gave me the story on the origin of this salute
OH YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA nice touch with the timer :) Thanks Paul
You bet!
The young lady on the intercom summed it up quite aptly at the 3:56 mark...."yeah, pretty nice"! I couldnt agree more. That trick bike riding weaving through the crowd at the beginning was 'pretty nice' too. 👍 ✌️🇨🇦
"trick bike riding" 🤣 Thanks!
❤ The captain loves to please the crowd. BARKER BARK!! We ❤ it!!
Indeed He Does.
Always love the JRB. Best salute on the lakes. Great video & looks like a nice crowd to greet her. Thanks Paul.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you Lou.
Love the cam following the ship on the pier, you stayed right with it!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
The "Barker's Bark" is one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard. I love it! XOXO
Thanks
A good ship and a good Salute. Thank you for this beautiful video
Thank you too!
What an arrival, and what a video, professionally navigating around the bystanders, on a beautiful day. 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks 😁
A new genre of music, Bark and Roll!!
🤣 very creative 👌
Just totally awesome...!!!👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
It’s not about the size of your horn, it’s how you use it.
Very true.
Yeah, but those are pretty still pretty big horns!
It’s BOTH! 😎
Hail the ship James R. Baker!🙋♂
She never disappoints with her melodic open air cathedral horn! 🤗🔊🎶😘👌🚢
Very consistent on that salute.
The Barker seemed to be cruising right down the canal. I am not sure but someone might be able to ski or at least boogie behind her. That would be a trip and a half. Always love the BARK!
They arrived with confidence on this trip! No wasting time.
Yeah pretty nice
Comfortably Cruising the South Pier, Paul Scinocca pleasing the subscribers with another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
When I hear the Barker roaring, I immediately get goose bumps. This is my favorite horn better than those of QM2 and QE2 which were my favorites up to now. Best sound ever.
I'll have to let the captain know his salute beat out royalty 😁
Yes ,please.😂
The voice of the sea...
The James R Barker's Barker Bark is a great way to start the weekend...😊📣
It really is!
Bridge operator: “Hold my beer”.
🤣 pretty much!
The bridge operator did a fine job on the reply!
The Barker Blast never, ever gets old.
Makes a mark on ya!
Love it!!!
Thanks!
Big Jim has arrived!!
and let everybody know it as well! 🤣
👏👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Thanks Greg!
Paul are there range markers coming in to Duluth. They are lined up pretty good with these big boys. There is only 1 horn. The 2 tone Barker. The first pitch is the James, the second is the "Baaaaaaaaaaarker"
Nice! i like it
Just picture had The Fitz been saved and repaired, she and the Arthur M Anderson sailing in together would be the only way to equal the Barker Bark!!
Just a though, if the Fitz did not sink, would either of those ships be as popular as they are today ?
@@PaulScinocca sure they would. They all are popular to me 😊
1:54
Maybe a stupid question, but is there more info on those horns, and is the two tone blast (with the higher sounding first) built in, or does the captain do that manually out of tradition?
Mainly tradition. All required communications is done via radio now. The ship starts the salute, the bridge replies in kind.
@@PaulScinocca Hi Paul, thanks for the reply - I was actually curious about the James R Barker's 2 tone whistle in particular, if that was automatic or if there were separate actuators for the high vs low tones.
@@TheAfterWorkGarage oops 😬, manually done with actuator buttons
@@PaulScinocca Thank you! So theoretically they could do a low then high tone (or at the same time), they just do the high-low by tradition? If so, that's definitely really cool!
It was and a nice reply from the bridge 🌉
Yes it was
