First, I really enjoy how you have switched up your format. Thank you very much for the added sub-titles.
Second, this song reminds me of the old Seattle Pop-Punk-Rock sound that was phasing out just as Nirvana and Grunge were becoming popular. That is the era of rock music that birthed Incubus, so it should have that sound. I think it is Mike's way of paying tribute or homage to his own roots. And Kanami and the Ladies took that riff and ran with it.
Third, your video just reinforces an idea I have had for quite a while now. I wish the Ladies, when they release a new video off the option of having the sub-titles available in Romaji script with English, rather than just either English or Japanese in Katakana/Hiragana. I know that I would prefer to learn to sing the songs correctly with the proper pronunciation, and I can't read Hiragana or Katakana, but can at least pronounce Romaji.

p.s. I use DeepL to translate my stuff so any mistakes while are from the program, I am still at fault for not knowing the language properly myself.

おっしゃると通り、アカネのドラムが無意識に刺さっていたようです。
ボーカル&コーラス、ベース、ギターが絶妙に溶け合う感じも当然刺さってます。
歌詞が良いですね。日本語訳で理解するとストレートな言葉が多く少し照れます。

Happy you mention Akane's drums that drive the song along for me. The song itself took me a few listens before I started to appreciate it. Just as you mention in your reaction. The more I listen the more I love it. Time will tell if it remains a standout Band Maid song but for now I love it. Nice reaction.

I love Akane's drumming style. She always play drums with smile and happy.
この曲に限らずバンメの曲ってスルメ曲が多いんですよね。何度も聞くうちに自分のなかで曲がどんどんよくなっていく不思議笑 この曲も初めて聞いたときは少し混乱しましたが分かりやすく解説していただきありがとうございます。やはりバンメはバンメなんですね。

自分にとっては、バンメの曲で捨て曲という、あまり苦手な曲がほとんどないんですよね。
聴いてるうちに、良さを発見し、どの曲も好きになっていきますね。
I love MISA's playing. Her bass tone is setting a new standard... and Akane's drumming is so distinguishable... and Kanami's solo... ahhhh! The recording and mix is good, too! Miku's lyrics are heartfelt. "I can't look into your eyes." Is Saiki her bestie? But Saiki masterfully delivers her lyrics, as always. BTW - The volume of lyrics and nuanced melodies she's committed to memory over the years is simply mind-blowing!
Mikey did good at giving them his direction for the song, and probably helped with the English lyrics -- a good growth for Miku's craft. I don't understand why Kanami said she couldn't have come up with the main riff. Probably just her being super polite, as usual.
I like the groove and feel of the song. I was waiting for, "I don't give a f**k" at the end. But maybe with these particular "Bestie" lyrics, that wouldn't be such a good idea. Even though at first listen it felt on par with Start Over It will undoubtedly do what every Band-Maid song does -- grow on you! Got to break through to the mainstream market with a few cuts, right? コラボ曲でもあり、出だしの歪ませたギター感はBand-Maid風（？）ではないけど、
自分たちの音にきちんと昇華させているところに、
Band-Maidの素晴らしさを感じてしまいます。
Akaneのドラム、Misaのベース、ともに主張しすぎてないけど、聞けば聞くほど
あーいいよね・・・とにやけてしまうし、Mikuのコーラスはもう安定感ばっちりで嵌ってる。
加えてSaikiのボーカルがやっぱり本当に素晴らしい。彼女の声質じゃないとダメなんですよね。

Bestie's sound is different from Band-Maid's usual sound. It's surprising and a little disconcerting. Because of the guitar riff at the beginning and end, I think. But Band-Maid manages to do what it takes intelligently to make it close to their comfort zone. When I say close I mean that musically it's not quite what I like to hear from my favorite band. On the one hand, I have heard more Blues, a genre that I like a lot, in Band-Maid songs, than Grunge, until now. And on the other hand a song composed by Band Maid, whether it's a ballad or mid-tempo contains a lot more elements and variations from our talented musicians, that's my point of view. It is for these reasons that I consider Band-Maid to be one of the best rock bands in the world. Saiki and Miku created perfect vocal harmony, it always does, but that's the best part for me in Bestie. Singing in English is not easy and Sai-Chan does a very good job. Non-English speakers will not find him to have an average accent. 😄Sorry for seeming so critical but even if Bestie is undoubtedly a good song, it is above all a collaboration and therefore it only offers part of what Band-Maid is capable of doing. I would add that the mixing is fantastic and we would like to hear it more often in all their songs. Thank you for your relevant comment. More that mine.🤣
That riff & sound is total Incubus, I guarantee it was one of Mike's contributions unique to this collaboration. I wouldn't be too worried about it being "the new BAND-MAID sound" if you don't really care for it... Me personally I love the sound, & would be cool with them writing a few more songs using the technique. 😄
@@lordvorador5735 I didn't say I didn't like Bestie, My Lord. 😄For me, only what I talked about is missing. If I compare Bestie with Page, for example, who is relatively close IMO, I prefer Page. Bestie is a good song, I honestly think so. The mix is perfect, if that's the sound you're talking about, and, yes, that's mostly what I'd like the production to keep.

But that was only the beginning.
The more I listened to them, the more delighted I was by their excellence in arrangements and their usual BandMaid-ness.

イントロリフの乾いて広がりのある感じは、
初期のWANDSなんかを思い出したり。
中身はエモくて、テクニカルで、完成度の高いアレンジはさすがBAN-DMAIDですね！みんちょの美意識が十分に感じられます。

MIKUのCluppoの”With You”を思い出す歌詞だし、MIKUの歌声も素晴らしいですよね。この娘の才能（文学的だし歌心も）はすごいとしか言えない。コーラスはどの曲でもすばらしい。SAIKIを活かしているような。ドラム、ベース、そしてKANAMIのギタープレー、なんと言っても音楽センスの問題なんでしょうね。日本の歌謡曲の歌手に、私はMIKUのような歌姫、SAIKIのような歌姫を知らない。BANDMAIDユニークだとしか思えない。

「With You」久しぶりに聴いてみました。これもいい曲で、歌詞がいいですね。
小鳩の歌詞のセンスは本当に見事だと思います。文学的だし、歌として唄った時の語感や質感も素晴らしい。
ある意味、Band-Maidは天才が集まって、うまく化学反応を起こした、奇跡的なバンドなんじゃないかと思いますね。

今回の曲はバンメにとっては、とてもチャレンジングな曲だったと思います。
けど、それが、またバンメを成長させてくれる、より良い機会になったんではないでしょうか😄
The Wagakki Band have, ---to their cost----been occasionally persuaded (just as in this case )to try to incorporate various Western sounds, and guest individuals. What a pity !
Their strength lay in exactly who and what they were !----not in muddying the waters with extraneous pollutants.
Some of the current generation of US fans express something like colonial-era arrogance:----an assumption that no matter how good the "import". it can always be improved by the addition of some good ol' American sauce .----------yuk !

As a musician of 56 plus years, I have been following Band-Maid since 2014 and I have to agree, Band-Maid does what they want with their music and that's why I love so much. They are so talented and Kanami Tono is a great writer and a great composer. I don't mind them collaberating with different bands. 👍👍Keep Rocking 🤘🤘

I believe that Band-Maid can achieve world domination for the next 10 years.
So, I think it would be good to collaborate with musicians worldwide, not just in the US.
I think it would be good for their growth.😀
