Sometimes I do say something worthwhile. :-) The phrase came to me because over the last week I was contemplating a video on "why Band-Maid is now my favorite band" or something like that. I thought about listing all the things I liked about previous bands, and realized every one of those older favorites had negatives for me (in hindsight). I thought about making a chart of everything I want in a band and checking off the list. :-)
Yokohama was absolutely the biggest stage they’ve ever been on. Watching the entire show, it was kinda cute when they had to run back to positions because they weren’t used to having so much room. And Saiki’s voice was the best she’s ever sounded. The crowd was loud and enthusiastic; however, if you want a good laugh, in your free time, check out this song on fancams from their Mexico show. Saiki didn’t even have to sing because of the crowd going bonkers
The first live was done at Shinkiba STUDIO Coast Fall of 2017 and the concert video was included in special limited editions of the World Domination CD, one on Blue-ray and one on DVD.
Quite a few special things to watch for in the mv. Miku making a dish, Akane eating it, MISA's shyness, Kanami's infatuation with Saiki, Kanami being clumsy, Akane sneaking a snack from the tray, lots more keeping the fun going. In the throwing things in the banquet room when MISA throws the mic stand, Saiki asked her why she threw that? MISA replied, It was there!
Thanks, Chan! Great run through of the recorded song, OMV, unofficial LV, and OLV. And yes, the 10th Anniversary Tour Final was a incredible showcase for BM, and especially Saiki.
Saiki was so dominant in that last one that I wanted to go on and on about it. :-) What a transformation she has undergone from "shy girl who can sing" to "this woman rules the room".
As always, enjoyed the comments. Akane’s drum accents during the call and response between MISA and Kanami (official live video) is absolutely brilliant. And what more can you say about Saiki’s vocals during the same performance…perfection!
I feel like I didn't mention enough how much better Saiki's voice was in that last video. It's definitely on a completely different level than what I've heard before. As much as everyone in the band seems to have improved in 10+ years, Saiki's stage presence has gone from timid/shy/limited eye contact to powerfully commanding the entire venue. It's magnificent to watch.
Dye for you. Some fans are saying it is a Japanese figure of speech, willing to change. I content that Miku is adding another layer by suggesting she will change her hair color for us . Which she does often!
Ha. I didn't mention that I've enjoyed Miku's hair color changes over the last tour. I think purple was my favorite. Or was it the blue? But yes, I guess I can see "dye" as a metaphor here. :-)
@@Chan_Fry Cool. You might want to add 'Choose Me' to the list. They perform the song with Saiki, Misa & Kanami wandering through the crowd on catwalks, in the Yokohama concert , with the images made up from 24 fan cams. Saiki also does a solo version on the piano in the same show. Just sublime. Plus there's the official music video. All Madiacs will love you for it.
I don't envy the film makers trying to cover Band-Maid, in that there isn't any one band member in Band-Maid to focus on, as all these ladies demand and deserve the attention! Great problem to have!
Another great reaction, thanks a lot! The mv was filmed at Royal Chester Maebashi northwest of Tokyo, what seems to be a noble wedding location. I wonder who is looking for their interesting video locations, maybe Miku. She definitely seems very interested in sightseeing. I think her "Japan in Motion" videos are a must for all Maidiacs 😉
I saw a couple of her "Japan in Motion" videos and truly enjoyed them. I too would like to know who's finding their locations, and wouldn't be surprised if it was Miku. :-) I'd also like to see more videos like this one -- actors, storyline, scenes, etc. (But I assume they're more difficult/expensive to make.)
If Yokohama concert showed anything it showed what a stand out performer Saiki has become. Still basking in the glow of watching that concert live on line. The MV always makes me watch Miku acting while Kanami is fawning over Saiki. Her look of shock is brilliantly done. Glad Akane gets a mention as her drumming sometimes gets ignored and yet is just so important to so many tracks. Not many bands can have the same song repeated in such a short time and still feel as if we have been short changed. Off to listen to the CD again. Great track to open the album. Interesting and absorbing review as always.
Thank you. Completely agree about Saiki's commanding performance. I can't wait to see more videos from that show. ("same song repeated" -- lucky me, I got to hear it a dozen more times while editing this video...) :-)
Langes, aber gutes Reaktion Video! Besonders vielen Dank für deine Translation of the Text! Ridings from This Night Frosty Hamburg, du Texas! Ben PS: vielen Dank auch für deine Beschreibungen von dem, was im Video im Hintergrund passiert!
This video is now my go-to for a review of this song. BTW, there was a similar guitar/bass/drums conversation in the Zepp Tokyo? concert, or at least in some other okyu-ji. Plus, you're the only music reactor I've seen who has a wrench at the ready - you never know when you might need to tighten up your chair...
My guess is that the wrench is for adjusting his metal "cage" - in one of his DIY videos, he mentioned that he reconfigures it occasionally. (The EMT conduit framework over the desk.)
Thanks, Glenner! I honestly forgot the wrench was in the corner of the video frame, LOL. And Anderson called it -- it's a 7/16" wrench that fits the nuts on my metal pipe "cage" (from which I hang my video lights, reflectors, and other video accessories... I haven't adjusted the cage setup in a few months, so I can probably return the wrench to the garage now. :-)
Breaking stuff is fun! :-) And I'm sure it was more enjoyable than just playing her drums out in the cold ("non-fiction days") or whatever they do in the other videos. :-)
21:20 Yes, Miku is getting better at it. He has now become a fairly stable rhythm guitarist. Of course, he has always performed brilliantly as a backing singer. (Not to mention the "magic spell" performed under okuji.) From Hungary.
Yes, I've loved Miku's backup vocals since the beginning (including her solo vocal parts). She is the perfect complement to Saiki's voice. And I'm glad her guitar playing has continued to improve. :-)
Ah, I did hear the もう, but haven't learned it yet. :-) Thanks. (I'm using Duolingo, which isn't great for Japanese, as well as Busuu, which isn't great but in different ways, and also "Japanese From Zero" books/videos.)
@@Chan_Fry I'm nearly 2 years into my efforts on Duolingo. I nearly fell off my chair when it came up with 'Hato wa uma ni norimashita ' - The Pigeon rode the horse - ハトは馬に乗りました which I'm sure you'll understand why as it's obviosly a sentence that is essential for any Miku fan.
Akane drives this song, IMHO......as usual. In the latest LIVE version her "mediator" drum fills are wonderful. Her drumming was better than the studio and much better than the first LIVE (2017 Studio Coast) recording and their 2018 Zepp Tokyo LIVE, which was the first Kanami MISA duel as played at Yokohama 10th Anniversary show. Kanami's PRS Custom 22 Fire Red Burst (Early vids) isn't used much as of recent. The "22" indicates 22 frets where she has settled into the Custom "24's" which would be 24 frets which are her "Green Fade" and "Violet Black Burst" models she uses most. Saiki had several nice little "growls" in that 2023 show. Not so much seen in this latest Yokohama show, but the back of Miku's new outfit has the Band-Maid "Bow", as seen on their "World Domination" album cover. Good stuff Chan, as always.
Thanks for the info, Jim. I admit I didn't notice Miku much in that last video (just the improvement of her guitar playing), so I didn't see the bow. Maybe when I get to some other Yokohama videos, I'll look for it. Plus Saiki was so dominant in that last video (except for the bass/guitar/drum feature) that she really took the limelight. :-)
Where I've been might be called "real existence" (Band-Maid pun!) -- my livelihood is unrelated to this channel, so I only get to squeeze in a reaction when nothing else is going on. :-)
Don't You Tell Me! Oh, wait! You just did. 🤘😂Now, let me tell you something: Some say the Carolina Reaper is the hottest chili pepper with a Scoville Heat Index of 2.2 million. Nope! It's Band-Maid with a whopping 198 Million View index! 🌶🤘🎀 Thx, Chan!
My pepper tolerance is pretty low -- everything after jalapeño is just pointless pain to me. :-) But I think I'd try any pepper Band-Maid told me to...
Great reaction(s) and comments for this fantastic song. And you are correct, Just Bring It is one of their most popular albums. Have you noticed the optical illusion / double meaning of the cover illustration ?
Maybe it's a play on the "Eyes wide shut" type of stuff and the help had to sigh NDA's or something. In an interview Kanami said she plays the rhythm parts of the song when they are recording.
Always happy to see one of your videos pop up. Good luck with your Japanese learning. It's a lifelong process. From my understanding "chotto" means about 8 different things so both apps are probably right haha. "They tick off boxes I didn't even know existed" is a great way to describe Band-Maid. Totally stealing this line! 🤣 I 100% agree with what you said about Akane. No one elevates the music around them like she does. In other Akane news, Kanami just tweeted out "I ended up making another song with difficult drums... Ah-chan, poor thing... 🥺" I love them. You can visit the filming location for this video (Royal Chester Maebashi). A couple fans have taken pictures there and one even brought his Flappy Pigeon guitar and set it on the the table, kind of connecting the past and the present. Saiki's pre-surgery voice in full effect in that live you found. That's Shinkiba Studio Coast, from 2017. Any time you see those big "windows" behind them you know you've got the Studio Coast performance. The runway was such a great addition. It was a great way to make their 10th anniversary show different and feel even more special. Saiki's confidence was off-the-charts in this show. I agree about their new outfits as well. I think Saiki's new look, being less flowing and more form-fitting, allows her movements to convey more power and intent. Her presence felt noticably different in this show and I think that's in no small part thanks to the new look. See you in the next video.

Ah, it took some creative searching, but I found it! Thanks for the suggestion. Very fun. Still, I think I like the overall quality of the Yokohama 2023 video better -- and I'm still wowed by Saiki's stage presence. :-)
Yes Chotto means "a little" or "a little bit". From the context of the lyrics , "mou chotto tanoshimasete" means something like "Let me enjoy a little longer" although in Japanese lyrics it doesn't say "longer" . Good luck with your Japanese learning, Miku will be proud of you.
Thanks for the additional context. I'm trying to convince my wife to learn Japanese along with me so I'll have someone to converse with (but she already speaks three languages so I don't know whether she'll go far enough with Japanese to help...) :-)
