I just built this. Here are my tips for anyone watching.. (Also, hello future me if you watching this video while trying to reassemble this monstrosity after having moved. Did Bernie win? I hope he did.) 1. Put in the little black magnets (from step 15) first. You will need a hammer to get them in there, preferably one that isn't metal (since they are magnets a metal hammer will yank them out). 2. In steps 1 and 2, make sure the metal rods are facing inwards. 3. In step 2, make sure the glass is the one that has the "1" printed on it. (Future Alice-- you marked this glass with a little bit of nail polish.). Otherwise the plastic strips will not fit the glass correctly. 4. Use gloves when handling the glass to avoid fingerprints Hope this helps some people!
The two plastic strip have to fit inside the channel on the wooden base toghether with the glass? Or they simply goes between the two glasses without enter the channel on the base? Thanks in advance
Thank you. I had the non 1 door on the back and it was a nightmare I was about to give up on ever getting it together, saw your comment and checked and whoops, put the right one on and it was now a breeze to get together.
This helped m,e so much. I was an idiot, and I locked the upper most part as tight as I could before I installed the door. For some reason, the metal hinges that the door is attached to was too tight on mine, so my I was unable to slid the top part of the door into the metal hinges. however, I saw how you guys actually unscrewed the upper most part of the case (wooden part) to allow more leeway for the top part of the glass door. Basically, you guys saved me alot of headache as I was at a loss, and was even on the verge of just giving up and setting for the unaligned glass door
I bought one a few days ago, but my door is misalligned for like a few millimeters. i don't really understand what you meant. i know its an old comment but if you can remember maybe you could clarify?
Bought and assembled yesterday in black color. It tooks me 2h00, all alone. I drilled a little hole in the center on the down part, to pass an electric cable, for the light of my Lego Saturn V boosters. The glass looks like fragile. Good product for CHF 89,-
Better off buying wireless puck lights. Battery operated with controller. Check Hoover puck lights on eBay. I have the, set in 3 cases. There great and have 3 diff colors in one light. Clear blue red or green. $30 for 5 puck lights
I agree, that's what i'm getting for my detolfs. I got a friend who has lights with wires in his detolfs, the lights look good but I don't like all those wires. The wireless puck lights will do just fine for me.
Those long plastic guides are the only problem on every assembly. Getting the second piece all the way in. Especially when the spaces are almost closed (as they have been on some I've received)
Thank God I just brought mines today for my collection yr video very helpful only question I have for the hole on top too to the wire threw did it with hole already or did u have to drill a hole for it ????
can you please help me? bought a Detolf yesterday... after assembling it I've noticed something ain't right... the door won't shut completely, the bottom is okay (magnet at the bottom is definitely doing its job) but the top isn't. Tried losing the screws at the top thinking that it might be to tight that it makes the glass "warp" but nothing changes...
Hi T.C. I know this post was 4 years ago but did you ever find a solution? I'm having the exact problem and I don't want to go through the hassle of returning the cabinet.
I took me 2-3hrs to put together by myself and i only got as far as getting the top on nothing is lining up right so now i have to take it apart and im afraid im going to break it now
I made the same mistake, put both hinges on the door, then I realized it would be easier to keep the top on and slide the door on with the top hinge installed.
@@buybye2837 And now it's 10 months later lol but I just wanted to say thanks for answering that. I just got mine and watched this beforehand (Havent even started yet) but I can keep your comment in mind. Never hurts to answer an internet question because it might help someone else.
I buy one but the part where you put the glasses the metal came out damaged the screw does not fit which one does not tighten, you will not know where to get that part?
Put mine together but door is snug at the bottom and the two glass shelfs doesn’t sit even on the rack but the top shelf does. Any ideas on how to fix it?
I just put a coaster curio cabinet 950171 black together. With no aa bb cc. No real information. So Thank you for this video. I was able to. By myself. 😱 Lol 1 washer missing. Lol.
This should be added to the title, With a Little Help From My Friend. When parts seem to be tough to install, I use some hand soap. You must be a great DIYer. I did not see the assembly instructions. When I did mine, I installed the door when I put the top on. Used masking tape to hold it in place. For lights, I bought some under-counter lights from HomeLife LED. Twenty units for $200. They attach with self-adhesive backing and can be removed. They are also motion-sensitive, so they come on when you get near the display case. No ugly electric cords to hide. Also, if you are going to place it near a wall, install the wall anchors.
getting the glass in those freaking plastic things is a nightmare. Had to stop what I was doing and reasses if I want to proceed or return it. Worst piece to ever assemble from IKEA
Super easy to install with a little bit of help from a friend first one takes a lot of time but after the first one itll take around 10-15mins for the succeeding pieces. Built 6 for my display collection
The first step should be to create holes for the light. and install the light base plate. Poor instructions that does not show the perspective as to where are you installing what item. First show where is the item is going to go then show the closeup.

I cant close it properly because i could not get the magnets in. Honestly the instructions were very stupid. They should have listed it first
Cool! Now I want the Detolf Disassembly...
pain in the ass to do it alone but its real nice when is done.
Very helpful, the video was much more simple to follow then the included instructions.
You forgot the part where the glass explodes just sitting there
Mike King my wife was placing the glass in the groove as instructed and “pop!!” went the glass all over the living room
Wtf
Can you guys really confirm of this because I have been wanting to get these now and all a keep hearing is this same comment
spark Adventures omg me too i want to get this but im so scared of it breaking
@@Alternativezz I got to see them in person at ikea It seems sturdy But the comment scare me I also have little ones That's what keep me from getting

Cefrank's lamp will bring even more excitement.
much better if you wear gloves (to avoid finger prints) on this one, and yea another person to help you assemble it will make it a lot easier. 😉

wayyyyy better looking than this video. Those wires are ugly
this just happened to me the other day. Went back and thankfully they replaced the part I needed.
Those long plastic guides are the only problem on every assembly. Getting the second piece all the way in. Especially when the spaces are almost closed (as they have been on some I've received)
How did you fix that problem as on side fine but the other side is horrible and I can get the glass into the plastic guide
great video, thanks for sharing! Could you tell me where to get the lock?
Thank God I just brought mines today for my collection yr video very helpful only question I have for the hole on top too to the wire threw did it with hole already or did u have to drill a hole for it ????
do you need to take it apart in order to move it Around or is it pretty sturdy? thnx :)
That music tho 😂😂😂😂

Thank you so much man this was helpful. I just finished assembling mine with my parents it looks gorgeous
do those tools come with it?? (the little things u used to twist the scrrews on
Where can I buy that lock?
It doesn't help when four of the caster screws are missing
Fuuuuuk mine came without those 4 screws too ! What did you do to fix the problem if I may ask ?
how thick is this glass?
I took me 2-3hrs to put together by myself and i only got as far as getting the top on nothing is lining up right so now i have to take it apart and im afraid im going to break it now
How thick is the glass that there are 3 pieces in mm? 4 or 5mm
2:45 starts to asembly with 2 long unions of plastic, those dont come with the boxes... what can I do?
I just opened mine and it came with them
Go to ikea and ask
I made the same mistake, put both hinges on the door, then I realized it would be easier to keep the top on and slide the door on with the top hinge installed.
can someone tell me how to put these glasses sides into these plastic slots? it's impossible, especially when sides are in vertical position
You have tilt the bottom front first and then work your way into the plastic inserts...bottom to top...I know its 4 months later but yeah...

What's the size of the wooden base and the diameter of the screws? (in centimeters) . I just know the glass mesures.
this would be good if it wasn't for that music, damm.
Mute and play something else in the background.
I am going to be building four of these soon -_-
Wish me luck.

I am looking for this 😂 Installing a Lock for my Ikea glass cabinet. Thank you 🙏👍
My door isnt magntizing, it because i have the hinged alil to low? Or the fact that i pushed the magnet all the way in?
Flip the magnet around
Haha i dont mind music.. Reminds me of Bubba Ho tep
Is it easy to move or disassemble and re-assemble a DETOLF?
Yes
does the box fit into the trunk of an suv
i dont think it will fit in any trunk, it will have to be sprread across the front and back seats
Mine fit in a Honda Civic if that helps. Of course I had to put the backseat down, but it fit so it HAS to fit in an SUV.

In the likely someone that own one has to move, can they be disassemble or they have to be move at its current state fully assembled?
They can disassemble we bought one second hand
I just built mine and I notice that the right side bends inward, is that normal ?
God must laugh his head off when he sees someone like me trying to assemble something like this. I suppose he has to get his kicks somehow.
who?
Does it come with a lock? Or do i afto buy one separately.
Do you speak English?
SSGSS Nathan separately
Where to got the lock? Somebody help me.
is it possible to combine to of these next to each other by removing the glasses in between them so as to fit larger items?
I guess not and its such a bad idea cause pf the weight, might just break the glass
Where did you get the lock from... couldn't really see how the lock works
Somebody know if glass is 3mm o 6mm?

Same here, install with same way, but glass exploded itself, it might kill a lot people
Thanks 😊
One of the glass pieces was broken, the other completely destroyed :D
Never buy from Amazon unless you absolutely must. If you can drive out to Ikea do it. I picked up 4 for the price of 1 on Amazon at Ikea. Lol
Sucks two person job when it comes to sliding the glass down into those stupid plastic sidings
Ohhhhhhhh i only got half the kit.
thank you!
Awesome.
How much price ?
TOOK ME 2 hours if you got the money pay 2 people to do it

very nice . look easy . l know it is not .
Mine didn’t have the hole for the cable on the glass… my hottoys will belong in the dark for eternity
Thank you sooo much

I cant trust people that dont show thier faces
Anyone here for hamsters lol
This thing gave us the flux.
Geeeesh!!!
Mine exploded
I will never buy another piece of crap from Ikea as long as I live and breath.
Anyone else here for their gerbils?? No? Just me? Oh ok
thanks for explaining literally nothing was no help whatsoever pulls out random screws and screws it into another screw??? wtf
I'm revoking your man-card. I'm a 56 year old woman who assembled it by myself.
Yo quiero esto para mi hamster 😿
👍
This is the most bullshit ikea furniture i have assembled... So difficult to put the sides. Looks cool but this took me about 3 hours...
