Better than Metallica IMHO....AIC lead & backups vocals (harmonies) FAR surpass...this song took a 2nd listen, but now I really dig it!
bassplayer1966 Same happened to me. But the second time I got through the song I felt 200% AIC. The lyrics and the harmony between the two signers are awesome. And you still can feel Staley throuh them. He still with Cantrell and the through different ways than what we could understand.
Metallica sold out, Alice and chains proves this in this song alone, that they did not.
OrgoneMatrix1111 You know, its not because a band got mainstream, and sold out that its better. Justin Bieber is for sure selling a lot more tickets than Metallica but not better. With your reasonning Justin Bieber would be better than Metallica. So before commenting on something without logic, then just don't. And also there are many factors that influence popularity in music. Mostly maisntream media. Not getting into this because your brain will not be able to understand any of this.

Yea, this isn't Layne, he's dead, long gone. On the other hand, DuVall is alive and well and sings better without heavy drugs. Layne sang about dying on drugs and did just that, a selfish act. Remember folks, AIC has ALWAYS been Jerry's baby, he used to be a choir leader, born to harmonize and incorporated it into every song very carefully. Jerry IS AIC in my book.

Fuck that. Layne harmonizing with Jerry was 1000 fucking times better than Duvall. Don’t get me wrong Duvall’s good but as cliche as this may sound, Layne is, was, always will be irreplaceable.
I can't argue with that. I didn't mean to sound one sided. Layne pretty much helped me mold my own voice when I was a youngun. All I am saying is that it is amazing that Jerry persevered through all of it and is still holding on to that 90s vibe.
Brian Wilson can’t argue the facts Brian. Jerry is a legend in his own right. he deserves all the credit he gets, and im glad people are noticing this man’s genius even more now that Layne’s gone.
Sure, Layne was selfish for singing about his own personal experiences. But Jerry and every lyricist in existence is guilty of that to.
I have enjoyed the new album but truth be told it didn't stick with me... a few weeks into it and I kind of moved on.
Truth need to be told...I'm still enjoying their new album..it's awesome. Listen to it almost every day since I've bought it (a couple of days after it was released).
