I bought the Scx10 III kit version so the hobbywing esc is the only esc that truck has ever had. But I have a friend who has the rtr version of the Scx10 III, and they said the spectrum esc is terrible. So to answer your question, I would say the Hobbywing Quickrun 1080 is a massive upgrade from the stock Spektrum esc.
