Best Bang for Buck Axial SCX-24 upgrades

- In this episode of 10th Scale Garage, we take a look at some of my favorite upgrades for the SCX24 from Axial. We take a look at wheels, brass wheel weights, tires, links and axels from Injora and RCAWD. We show you how to install them and then take them crawling.

Fair warning to everyone though: when adding weight like this, you'll burn out your stock servo and motor. Just be ready to upgrade those too if not done already :)

Just fyi on those rims you installed on the deadbolt, you can put the hexes on the opposite side of the rims and create a deep dish wheel and gain an even wider stance! :)
I built my Deadbolt like a crate of lead, so I 100% approve of that sleeper build. Great vid!

I love my Gladiator, it's also blue with HR steering link, brass diff weights with skids, and bumper. I put RC4WD TSL Thornbird tires and black wagon wheels that I reversed for a wider stance. I need to get the high clearance links, sliders, shocks, and a servo because mine is going. I saw a magnetic mount that screws to the body and adds actual vents to the hood, I wish I could remember where right now.
Just order the scx24 jlu can't wait till it arrives. Also order wheels / tires ,links and shocks . Definitely itching to start crawling. Nice channel just got a new subscriber
Perfect video. I just bought 3 of the Gladiators for my brother, dad, and me. We are about to order some wheels tires and fruited brushless systems. They are pretty awesome stock with some little tweaks. I can't wait to add some brass. Thanks for the killer content, boys. You should do rear-wheel steering on the longer gladiator. I have seen some videos and it's insane with rear-wheel steer.

I know some are saying the next Traxxas 1/18 will make the 1/24 obsolete but I disagree. These little rigs are the best. Great work gents!
Well I haven't thrown away my old Losi 1/18 Mini Crawler. I jumped into 1/24 and after spending $250 the next upgrade was... going back to 1/18. It was still a "toy." A expensive aluminum one but going full throttle and rattling around what was basically glorified railroad scenery got old. Outside was worse. I understand the appeal but I quickly bored with it. 1/18 is still small enough to run indoors/backyard courses but to me far more technical/challenging w/o the need to nerf everything you encounter.

I have treal steering linkage on the c-10. It’s nice but no better than the RCAWD one.

Get ready to replace that servo and motor because they don't last long with that much weight plus the slow crawl is impossible they just launch because they don't have the torque
Try only one rubber bushing on each end of the arms let's em move inside the mounts just a tad, gives for a little looser movement in the arms works excellent 👌

What did you do about the axles that the bearings couldn't fit? Did they send another set?
Yeah those axel shafts must just be a bad batch, they should have all fit in the stock bearings. I got a set of those +4mm CVD shafts you have and they didn’t have any issues, just bad luck I guess but I’m sure RCAWD will send replacements without issue 😎👍🏻
They gotta make micro unlockable an lockable diffs ect like the trx's

It’s less about just adding weight and more about where you add and remove weight. Also, obviously if we keep lengthening and widening the trucks, they will be more capable, at a certain point you might as well just get a 1/18… and then when you widen and stretch that… might as well be a 1/10. Lol
It's funny I always complain about how much 10th scale are but I've put over a grand in my scx24 thru trial and error parts swapping I guess if I did a payment plan it'd be the same difference 🤷😂

I’m gonna have to disagree with the injora tires although they may be good and grippy on an indoor course if you plan on using it outside they just loss all grip and it just slides
I have some on a few other rigs. They make so many tires with different t compounds and tread patterns. There’s bound to be some stinkers in the bunch.

I have a few. The C10 is pretty good stock with just better tires & 43 mm Injora shocks IMO. If you add weight you will need new servo & motor.
Heavy Heavy Heavy. Think of all that weight your dragging uphill. Im just not into adding all that money and not getting performance
It’s cool to do a heavy version, but man I agree. I did a heavy one and a stock one & the light stock one did really good. Have to admit tho the 43mm double barrel shocks are a game changer.

I don't think SCX24s are gonna be very popular after Traxxas drops the new TRX4-Mini in November. Its a better size (1/18th so large enough to deal with obstacles the SCX24 simply can't), its got way better overall build quality (lets face it Axial 1/10th scale is awesome but 1/24th always felt like just a cash grab), better detailed bodies (the exception being the SCX24 Bronco Hard Body which beats anything on the market), oil-filled shocks, better electronics and better stock tires. I may hate Traxxas with a passion over the companies' shady behavior and haven't owned a Traxxas in over a decade, but this might finally be the one that breaks that boycott. Its just too good dude, I really wanna sell my SCX24s and just get a couple TRX4-Minis. Ill refer back to Axial for bigger stuff. th-cam.com/video/xGLqwUOpHF8/w-d-xo.html
