yeah really. if you go by the records... he has said he likes more songs than not.... just because you didn't understand Harlequin forest at that time, doesn't mean this band always sucks... ha
Opeth music is such a beautiful escape from the overdone, over appreciated, and oversimplified thrash metal we are blasted with today! Thanks for doing this one!
You're so right. Nice to see you at another place in the tube. Saw them live recently. They still nail where it comes to quality. Where Opeth, there people who love real quality music in my humble opinion.
I normally agree with the stance on most prog but opeth is something beyond they have transcended all stereotype and are virtually ethereal gods of music
To me this is the best song on this album and that’s not an easy thing to conclude on, since the whole album is a masterpiece. Being a two part song makes it feel a bit more cohesive to non-prog people.
I'm pretty sure Mikael wrote this album shortly after going through a divorce and his mother passing away, so there are many references to death and people leaving.
I like watching these guys reactions because they always dive into the song afterwards but the one thing like always kind of irks me is bands like opeth and cradle of Filth they'll pick out singular songs and not understand the larger picture of the albums. Like with this one that 30 second outro she's talking about leads into the next song and that's why that little organ tapping makes sense.
Hell yeah! So happy to see this one pop up today. 🤘⭐🤘 This is one of Opeth's best songs ever. ❤ If Vin doesn't like this one, all hope is lost. 😁 Time to find out..... Edit: YAY, he liked it... and a 9.2 rating no less. 🔥🎶

I think M. mentioned that the backwards lyrics were a placeholder intended to be replaced, but he didn't get it right and kept it. (But My sweet Satan or whatever would be a natural call-back to the panic that metal inspired a few decades ago 😉).
Vins breakdowns are more rational and usually more accurate. Vin - "No, she dead bruh. She died from overdosing. The white sheets and lights.. She in a Morgue G. They identifyin' her body". Sori's breakdowns are more whimsical and naïve. Bless her :)
I think he needs to listen to BWP a couple more times. That little interlude part throws a lot of people off. It did for me. Then finally I recognized the song for the masterpiece that it is.
What a coincident! The singer of Opeth, Mikael åkerfälts ex committed suicide after they broke up.... i don't know if this song is about that but porcelain heart and/or bleak is about that. I recommend both if you have not already done it :P
@@mellertid yeah, what I mean is that it should be ok to talk about this stuff, and not freak out just because there is the name satan in the song... most christians I know actually believe that it is good to talk about it rather than hiding in fear, and they seem to be really opened about talking things over in general, so I did not expect that reaction, thats all :)
This would be perfect music to fight insomnia... but it becomes Metal for moments, so I can't use it for sleeping and I neither can enjoy it. That's what makes them talented, I guess...
Vin on pretty much any Opeth song: "I don't like Opeth, but I like this song" - Just admit already that you like Opeth xD

Vin seems to be a bit of an idiot
@@Thullin13hell, he might have a new appreciation for that song, given he's liked their other songs.
i bet if they had watched the live version he would have got it and reconised their brilliance.@@jasonashley9853

How many times have Vin now proclaimed that he doesn't like Opeth, but he does like "this particualar song"? :>

I think most of the album was inspired by the suicide of his ex girlfriend while he was in the studio as well
This adds to me understanding why I love this band so much. The relation to the human experience - and all its pitfalls.
There are many other OPETH songs like this... they have so much to offer.
Team Sweden!

The ending stops abruptly then goes straight into the next song,Hex Omega,a song you should give it a whirl, watershed is my favorite opeth album.
Mine too!
The first time I heard this song the hard part scared me off my headphones lol

Oh, snap they did this one?! how did i miss the stream. Oh well This is fricken awesome.
i think you need to do more pre Blackwater Park era albums.
Exactly
Have they done The Moor?
@@DavidSGropdon't believe so

Brasil love's VnS. 🇧🇷
"I feel a little pink floyd here for some reason, I dunno why" - *THE LIGHT COMES ON!!!!!!!!!!*
There's actually only been 2 songs by Opeth that vin didn't actually like (Reverie/Harlequin Forest, and Blackwater Park); if memory serves correctly.
how can anyone not like harlequin forest? thats hilarious 😂

Coldness. That`s what I feel ;)
The basslines though.......
Guys, give a try to "In Cauda Venenum"
Prog is life

I think it happened while in the studio for Watershed, so not Bleak. But most of Watershed I think yeah
opeth i like this the olders albums maybe try with blackwaterpark
Omg, he said Satan…
Right?! 😂😂😂 my thoughts exactly lol
So what?
They're overtly christian, so not so unexpected that it's pointed out.

@@julianaserrano1756 I don't disagree 🙂 (the fact that some people will freak out is probably one of very few good reasons to say Sweet Satan).
