I'm a SOC analyst and I use Windows. Why? Because the business uses it and that makes us an Active Directory shop. Windows makes it easier. But what about Kali/Linux? It's called virtualization: everyone, whether they use Windows or not, uses Virtualization software at work to run those machines on their host.
All those people that criticize you for not using Kali are mostly skids that haven't written single line of code in their life... and probably know nothing about what CyberSec is in general
Anyone who uses Kali as their native OS has no idea what they’re doing. Kali, by default, is a horrible OS. It’s a penetration testing distribution, and everything runs as root and it’s actually not that secure to begin with. Also considering it’s just Debian with a bunch of offensive tools, people who use it as a daily driver typically have no idea what they’re doing and have imposter syndrome!
I find it the whole thing interesting. Seriously, people know one thing about "cybersecurity" and they think they know it all. "LINUX is KING..." Don't get me wrong, I am not a huge fan of Windows myself, however, it makes my life easier for the day to day activities.
Using Kali as your daily driver is just plain stupid xD I do agree tho that using windows isn't much better 😂 I recently bought a laptop and installed Linux in it and have been using it daily and doesn't bother me at all. I thought I would still use my desktop at home which still has windows for other things, but surprisingly I haven't. I'll still setup a Windows VM for other stuff in case I need it tho.
Hey bud, just recently found your channel and I have to say I like your content. As someone already established in a career (completely unrelated at that) and now pursuing a degree in cyber security I find your videos very informative. Keep up the good work, I'll be watching while I make my way through this adventure of school and a full time job haha!
I'm about to start college (I'm doing cyber security) but honestly I know nothing about computers and I know very little about coding. I really want to do this though.
Perfect! Someone like me that knows nothing about computers but changing careers. Can you share how it’s going for you & if you have any math in your courses?
Man I'm a sophomore in high school that wants to choose this as a career path. This really helps me get prepared for what I have to do. Thanks a bunch!!
Man, you're so natural at explaining this stuff on video, keep going, I gotta do so many cuts haha! Wish you the best of luck! On the topic of the video, I did two telecomms modules back in 2nd and 3rd years of my study, it was so out of my interest at the time, just like you say in the video it's all about what you're interested in. Though I don't think many people discover their interest as early as you did!
Please stay interested and you can never be too young or too old to get started. We need you. Major shortage and AI is far from ready to automate much of the work.
Hi, sir cybersecurity is one of my favorites and I think it will be best if I learn it. And I'm a high school. Student 12th grade I like to work on cybersecurity. But I feel so nervous sometimes I feel like how can I learn and help myself to get there? And I never took a cybersecurity class before. And I feel so nervous because it's kinda hard but I like it. May you could help me with the course. And I'm learning English too. Thanks, dear. ❤
Hey Collin can you make a vid advising for someone making a career change with completely unrelated qualifications and experience that can’t afford to go back to university?
If I’m taking a computer forensics class in my senior year for highschool do you believe that would lay down some sort of basics for pursuing a degree in this field?
I recently started taking IT-140 and every time I learn a concept, I end up making a side project tailored to use of that concept. I have made like 5 side projects in two weeks. 😄
Hello there I’m a boy and I really want to get into cyber security but I’m sceptical because I have a nose piercing I wanted to know would this effect my chances of getting a job in this field ?
Video really starts at 1:19
Actually starts 2 minutes in
thank you
Thanks

Haha that's right on point, it's like watching people debate Python vs Java :DD It's entertaining though

@@connormcgarr1780 I agree, but there are people using it as main OS but in that case most of them have another PC/Laptop only for that usage.

I am 12 years old but for some reason I am so intrigued about cybersecurity, I already know 3 programing languages (Python, Javascript and c ++)

Please do a video on Laptop/Desktop/Table setup for cyber security students.
