    I picked up the Electric blower last winter. Im in Mn, so you know the dumpings we receive. Have a full 3 car driveway. Im able to clear the entire driveway and sidewalk to door with one light left in the charge. My only issue is if I dont have good traction on my feet, its damn near impossible to keep tjat thing moving in hardened or icy conditions. That and the lack of chute control at the handles are the only two things I miss from my old gas powered Ariens two stage. That one was heavy and had auto turn and driven wheels. But I dont miss fighting to get it started every season.
    The shear volume of snow we get up here has me looking at Toro’s e24 or e26. Just need to come up with the $$$. If I get, will def post a video putting it through paces up here. So far been happy with Toro’s 60v. Came from the Ryobi 40v lines, but mostly likely moving to Toro’s mower this summer as well.

    I bought this 60v toro single stage this year as a senior woman in Ohio. We got 5-6 inches of crusty snow the very next day and it powered through it with very little effort. My drive is 120 feet long by 18 wide with a turnaround and I had one bar left on the 7.5 battery running at full speed. I love this thing. It’s light and easy for me to maneuver around. I am definitely looking at adding the two stage toro 60v and the power shovel to my arsenal for next year. I will win winter lake effect snow with that line up. I also have the recycler mower with a 6 amp hour battery. I didn’t need it but it’s nice to know it’s there.
    Good video. One question how was the weight on the shovel?

    We had an ice storm the night before last, and I thought my 60v Toro was not going to be of any use. However, I gave it a try, and it did a great job of clearing my 100 foot driveway and sidewalk. It is even able to clear through the snow pile-up that the snowplow makes on the street. It only used half the battery to do the job. It sure meets my needs and doesn’t require the maintenance and fuel that a gas blower does.

    The test was apples and oranges as far as the comparison goes. The Flex Force 60 single stage blower ended up being the star that opened my eyes. Thanks for doing that.
    The problem being Toro changes models all the time. Now it's the Power Clear 60 so who knows if that is the same thing or not. Moreover it's $750 and up so it's price point is very limiting unless you're absolutely sure it will meet all you snow clearing needs which in New England it would not unless you have a very small driveway.

    I purchased the Toro 60v a couple weeks ago after our old gas 2 stage gas blower died half way though clearing the driveway. Since then I've gotten to use it three times (live in Milwaukee), including one storm that was over 8 inches, and have been very impressed. It's much easier to maneuver than the old gas 2 stage and, like you noted, gets down to the concrete, leaving the driveway fully clean without having to go through manually with a shovel after the fact.

Now I got a really old one that I actually had to try it today and pull cord came apart and carb had to be cleaned. Still runs kinda weak. On deeper snow just turns of. I don't question the electric for snow, BUT..how does it handle the wind rows that the plow leaves behind? I have never seen any one take on one of them. My gas blower does it, will the electric handle that ice....I don not think it will!!!

    • @dmiller9786
      @dmiller9786 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Electric handles the end of the drive better than gas, Motors maintain torque at lower speeds. Gas will throw more snow at an ideal feed rate. Battery will move more snow in very heavy conditions without stalling.

    Great Info! At the end, you say that the Toro electric batteries are interchangeable. If I buy the Toro 60 v single stage snow blower and it comes with an electric battery and charger, and then I want to buy a backup battery, could the backup battery be a different size and still work in the blower and be recharged in the charger that came with the blower on purchase? I'm guessing this would necessitate getting a Toro backup battery. Is that correct? I've heard some people do buy a backup battery as the batteries don't recharge until they first warm up inside for a few hours and then there's the few hours to recharge the battery so there can be quite a lag if you have to recharge before able to complete the driveway snow removal. What do you think?

    The problem with single stage snow blowers is that you have to push them And it's like doing a push-up or tricep exercises. They're only good for snow like you're showing here Maybe 6 in 8 in of heavy snow you're constantly pushing and getting stuck. I know this because I've been using electric single stage and snow blowers but 13 years.
    Switching to a dual stage I'm nearing 50 years old and the blizzard I just had around Boston was 20 in of snow and the pushing I had to do was ridiculous. My heart rate averaged 150 beats a minute for 5 hours spread out over 2 days.
    Single stages I just too much work and put way more strain on your body.
    You could even test this too if you had a watch that showed your pulse or a heart strap.
    Look at your heart rate when you're using a single stage, and then to the same thing for your dual stage it's a big difference

    • @robertknight4672
      @robertknight4672 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Toro does have that snowmaster single stage which is propelled by the wheels. It's kind of an old idea they brought back and put their personal pace system on it. I think they would have been better off just giving you a standard speed selector. And another problem with some stage snow blowers is the MTD had a 21-inch model that I had liked to fall backwards a lot.

    • @muzikmon2267
      @muzikmon2267 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertknight4672 Yes the snowmaster is good.. It's the only one that propels you for a single stage. It's a good snow blower But it has a plastic transmission casing which means it could be plastic transmissions inside. Have they been out for a while and I guess they're okay. Easy machine to maneuver..
      I was talking single stages in general. You know like the ones that don't propel you.
      Use them for years now that I've used a two-stage snowblower that propels you I'll never go back.. It's so much easier. But I always try to get the smallest dual stage you can get That has automatic steering like the gas 826, or the power max battery powered E26 two-stage snowblower.
      When that snow gets packed without being able to be propelled you're literally doing a heart attack workout 🤣

    • @robertknight4672
      @robertknight4672 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@muzikmon2267 I've had a few single stages that don't Propel themselves. I've had both an MTD and Toro. Big problem I had with the MTD is it like to fall backwards and snow would build-up between the left wheel and the belt cover. I've since acquired a 2 stage. The single stage Toro is just a backup machine now.

    • @muzikmon2267
      @muzikmon2267 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertknight4672 yep same here. After 13 years with single stages THAT DON'T SELF-PROPEL. The snowmaster from Toro is another story.. That single stage works fantastic because of the self-propelled..
      I got my snow Joe corded electric single stage 21 in. Weighs 35 lb..
      I only use that in an emergency if I can't use my PowerMax Toro two stage E26 snowblower..
      My Toro power curve 1800 corded model 3881 that I had and used for about 11 years I just replaced The plastic pulley that started to warp and The motor belt That I used before I bought the snow Joe single stage because the Snow Joe had a rubber impeller and was made for wet heavy snow I'm selling..
      But using the two stage in heavy snow is like NIGHT AND DAY COMPARED TO THE SINGLE STAGE.. I did not know what I was missing..
      I will never go back if I could help it 🤣

      @@TurfCulture I didn't really want to replace the Tecumsah on my 521 but that engine wasn't great shape. I read that the drum style auger minimize is clogging. Home so the Toro's impeller blades appear to be much closer to the housing than they are on other brands like on MTDs. Those five horse Tecumseh's really impress me when they're paired with a well-designed snowblower.

    Lake Michigan lake effect ski country here. Gas-powered? Pffft! I remember those gas-powered lawn mowers which each and EVERY spring were gunked up. Took a week of tinkering to get those things even half workable no matter what preventative you did. Gas powered is like, so Fred Flintstone. I couldn't care less about the 'virement, but battery for a snow blower is just fine with me. Heck, for way less than the cost of the blower or the cost of hiring somebody - just get a second charger and extra batteries if you have a big stretch to plow. That outlet handles two plugs, eh? I'm in my 70's and have the strength of a 90 lb chick - not gonna manipulate a 2 ton Tussy no how. I've read dozens of reviews - just stick to Toro brand! Any comments? I'm in the market.

    I bought the battery powered one with the 3rd battery. North Dakota, light snow, heavy wind, warm then dropped pretty cold. Made the snow hard. Got 1/3rd of my driveway cleared before it died and i had to charge the batteries for 10 more hours before i returned it and got gas. What a waste of money. It's not heavy enough to push itself through anything at all hard. Won't touch what the plow left at the end of my driveway. Got a gas 2 state cub cadet and that finished everything the 60 volt toro couldn't. If you only get fluffy snow, don't worry about it, but if you have storms, you'll have regretful times following purchasing the battery powered snow blower.

    Yo karma, you should not play music when the viewers are trying to listen to how loud or at least get an idea of what the machines sound like. That's also part of the selling point with the electric ones. And when you have music in there for no other reason, it's kind of defeats the purpose.

    Big big big down side with the cordless machine. This machine was NOT designed for the padels to help propel
    the machine forward. A single stage gas unit does by design. If you are looking for a great work out, buy it! The paddles can not help
    due to fast battery drain.
    By design. If you like the single stage design, consider a gas unit. Your
    back, legs, and rear end will thank you, and you will look forward to using it!

    What folks watching this don’t know that the cordless blower is not selfpropelled. Not a big deal for a limited amount of time. The old 1989 Toro is self propelled. #2 the cordless will have trouble at the end of the driveway, the 521 does not. The 521 is 32 years old, how many 200-300$ batteries will you buy in 32 years, if the Electric motor still works! These are nice if your area gets 5” or less.

    Me and my brother beat my dad with a push shovel and regular shovel against my dad gas snowblower when we were rounger. I was already inside the house when we finished cleaning the driveway and the sidewalk also salted the driveway. He finally got it running when me and my brother was done drinking hot coco inside the house looking at the window at my dad trying to get his toro running. All I learned gas snowblowers are unreliable and it can't beat a shovel. I nevered race a electric snowblower but I think it might be Worthy challenge against the push shovels highly reliable shovel vs electric snowblower.
