are family lived there in 1958. my dad was in the air force.at the time it was usaf than . we lived on base housing which is still visible using google earth. i was amazed to see the apartment street view that we lived in so long ago ... 49 years ago .
The poor young troop at the gate has no idea what the person in the car is talking about. You'd think the U. S. was trying to take over England (why?) instead of maintaining a presence there to better help protect England in the event of another WWII -- at ENGLAND's request.
I wonder, having been previously an imperial empire, if currently U.K. soldiers, or British Soldiers, have an urge to reclaim the power Great Britain once had? Because as an American in the current Empire, I see people latching onto these ideas as much as possible here in the states. Sad.
I was at Croughton for some time in 1980, so I was long gone by the time this happened.. I was young and stupid, of course.. From this video, I’m not quite sure what the protesters are getting at, other to say that there was such a large US military presence in the UK during that time, that in the event of a real European war, the country would functionally cede control to them.. This seems to trouble these people.. Anyway, that was then, and this is now.. Looks like they had a nice picnic with the sheep, and an interesting outing they could tell their friends about.. ;-)
@@jasper9291 This foreign empire as you referred to them as, #1 saved your asses in WW2 and kept all of western Europe from speaking Russian during the cold war. I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford for a total of 7 years. The old timers appreciated us being there, the young people did not understand the gravity of the cold war. And you piss and moan about a walking path.
My family lived on 4th Avenue right there next to the base. My daddy worked in one of those giant golf balls.
I guess you got to see a lot of the world growing up, more than other kids in US.
What year? My dad was stationed there in the early to mid 90s. I remember the giant gold balls too lol
@@CJNello 1982-1986 we were there. I was little but I remember it so vividly.

422 ABS. Security Forces. 2003-2005.
Indeed foot paths were used during between 1973-76 when I lived on that base.

Kick 'em out!
If that was today they would be slammed to the ground for not wearing a mask and they would not raise a finger to do anything about it.
