Thanks for sharing Al. Heating Engineer here 50 plus years in the Trade & totally agree with your sentiments.
Oh, we made a Klondike back in the day with Microbore, thrown in, any size Radiators, any size runs of Tube. But we were young & foolish, so, there’s plenty still living with our poor workmanship.
However, they can rest assured we were minted, we would drive around in brand new Capris, Kipper Ties, 3 piece suits & Platform Shoes, pulling all the best birds.😂😂❤
All the other Tradesmen took the Bus😂😂
But seriously, 8 & 10mm tube has very little heat carrying capacity. So it’s always best to Tee off the bigger size Tubes. My advice, Central Heating is an exact science, not a DIY job. Best really to contact your local Gas Safe Plumber/ Heating Engineer to carry out any work.
Thanks again Al & pass on my regards to your lovely wife.

Hi Al, interesting video... Moved into a house 4 yrs ago with 8mm microbore system in poor condition with some blocked rads. Good thing was the flow and returns were in 28mm reducing to 22. Had a GSR engineer replace the boiler and (old) thermal store. Spent months cleaning the system out and eventually replaced 9 rads out of 21. Also added one, with very short 8mm runs, upped to 15 into the new rad. Works fine. Also fitted an extra filter on the circuit between the boiler and the store. Learned to solder the 8mm with those tiny fittings😅 I'd definitely agree that cleanliness is key, especially with the 8mm.

Great to see info on microbore - after 40 years of living with it!

My last gaff had micro ore, didn’t have any problems with it, but I found it too hard to DIY it. What I did do once In a while was close rad valves off to force everything through a single rad for a bit, I’d then clean the filter

[2.43] My radiators are very different sizes (smallest is nominally rated at 425 watt, biggest is 2110 watt) so the microbore system is very unbalanced anyway. Would teeing off the pipes to the smaller radiators be OK?

So long as they are not to far away.
