The sous vide really shines with tough cuts of meat. The long cooking time will turn the toughest cuts as tender as ribeye without over cooking. The other thing its good for is making sure you don't over cook an expensive cut. I've used one for years, never vacuum seal mine. I just use the zip lock type bags and squeeze the air out.
This is the only toy you bought, that I have to disagree with you as safe. Micro plastics is not good for you just like Teflon for cooking. Sorry Gigmaster unsafe.
