a lot of people think of nascar as a joke but when it comes down to it, that shit isn't a joke and takes balls to do.

I really don't believe people think Nascar is a joke, I do think a lot of people are board watching it unless a car flips upside down and a human legg flys out the window. Since that doesn't happen anymore, people want drama. Best ratings ever would be if Tony Stewart punched Brad Keselowski and smudged his lipstick.

Glad Colbert is continuing Letterman's thing of booking racing drivers. Now if he would just book the Indy 500 winner.

Tbh as a Nascar fan I came here mostly to see how the comments would be. Also, I know people always perceive Nascar as a southern sport, and one dominated by Republicans, and was wondering how much of the liberal crowd ever watches it. Sometimes feels like I'm the only democrat watching, considering the Trump sponsored cars and how southern most of the fan base seems.

TheFredducky you're definitely not the only democrat watching Nascar! Been an avid fan since I was 7 and most of my room is all Jeff Gordon gear and race used memorabilia. Planning on going to pit crew school hopefully by 2018. I've wondered the same thing so you're not the only one!

I consider myself as a Democrat and I've been watching it since about '04-'05. Johnson has been my favorite since he won the Brickyard 400 in 2008 or 2009 cause I remember they had a shot of his car going down the front stretch to the Checkered Flag and it was kind of a low shot cause you could see his car at the front left fender and his bumper and left side. Anyways, i'm rambling, I've been a fan for a while and and i do consider myself a Democrat. Sorry for the paragraph.

Jimmie says, "there's one fruit left." and it's a banana. So hilarious. Jimmie is a nice man as I've met him twice and am a Harvick fan but he earned what he won.

A truly inspirational athlete who has his morals straight. Jimmie paints NASCAR in a good light and I wish more drivers & fans would be like him. I feel like when I share that I'm a NASCAR fan I have to follow with "Don't worry I'm a liberal" because of the stereotype of NASCAR fans (though for the most part it's earned) I honestly used to hate Johnson when I was a kid (yes, it's because he won all the time) but as I started to become a fan of drivers because of the type of person they were rather than how cool their car looked , Jimmie became one of my favorite drivers (My favorite driver was Reed Sorenson until he was sponsored by the Trump Campaign in 2016) I really hope NASCAR can move in the right direction over the next few years, but seeing as the most popular driver (Chase Elliott) endorsed Trump, I fear that the sport is too far gone.

I don't know, your description fits a lot more NASCAR drivers today than it would have years ago. Now it's rather uncommon for them to be poorly spoken.

***** I hope the irony isn't lost on you but despite the vest, I'm more alive than your uncle Bryan Clauson. I'm sure his was a meaningful life, driving around in a circle like a dog chasing it's own tail. While you assume the doggy position on your little brother, that's what the founding fathers envisaged all those years ago.

***** Actually the term is Hajji, though I can understand if they use it in the American military. Since they're grasp of language is second to none. Also, please don't be foolish and say you didn't take it personally, I made a comment about nascar and you responded by calling me a jackass. Clearly your feelings were hurt, I get it though since Nascar is like a religion and Danica Patrick is your Goddess. It's ok Billy-Ray don't cry, I was only "horsin around".
