    Baltimore was about 2 yards away from winning against the Pats during their 16-0 season and also lost to Miami, that would be Miami's only win on the year. Imagine a team that wins against what would end up being a 15-1 team and loses to a 1-15 team in the same year.

      It was even crazier than that. The Pats were down 4 that game with 1 chance left on 4th down. They DIDNT GET IT, and it looked like their perfect season was over, but the Ravens coach called a timeout for NO REASON that cancelled the play. The Pats would get the 4th down on their second chance and then win the game.

      But is the best team the one with the best record? You could argue that the 1973 Dolphins, even with two losses including a thoroughly meaningless loss to Baltimore in week 13, was actually better. Their schedule was tougher, they were utterly dominant in the playoffs and Super Bowl (won all three games by 17+ points) and had the target on their backs the whole way. A lot of the writers and Dolphins players thought the 1973 team was better.
      I know this much: I watched the 1998 and 2016 Falcons, and I can say without hesitation that in a playoff game, the 2016 Falcons would have beaten the 1998 Falcons by two or three touchdowns.

    This is a decent ranking of best NFL seasons by team...
    The only thing is that the 85' Chicago Bears should be ranked higher than the 15' Carolina Panthers considering that despite both had considerably even win percentages and both were in the superbowl in their respectable seasons...
    The deciding factor is that Although The 15' Carolina Panthers did make it to the superbowl... They lost to the Devver Broncos 10 - 24
    Whereas The 85' Chicago Bears made it to the superbowl and won against the New England Patriots with a score of 46 - 10 !!
    So all in all...

    • @panoskakkavas4022
      @panoskakkavas4022 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not so much . Think about it ; Since the RS period holds up for 16 matches , the no1 seed in both divisional and - most importantly - conference board is bestowed upon teams bearing an average score of 2 to - in very extreme types of situations - 5 loses during the 16 game schedule . Thus , using simple math and of course the official standings presented in the video , it is safe to assume that the 13-3 record could be the average score in a #1 seeded team headed for the playoffs .

    Alright I need an explanation from SOMEONE. So back in 2011 when the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnipeg, the team was renamed to the Jets. However, *as far as I'm aware*, I don't ever hear anyone combining their history (more specifically, statistics) with the old Winnipeg Jets that are now the Arizona Coyotes. Yet I hear/see things with the Cleveland Browns that constantly make callbacks to the old Cleveland Browns that are now the Baltimore Ravens. I hear it on broadcasts, I hear it from friends, and I saw it on this channel. The old Browns moved to Baltimore in 1996. The new Browns were an expansion team founded in 1999, yet they get to keep the history (again, statistics.) of the old Browns? What exactly am I missing here that everyone else seems to understand regarding specific statistics? I don't mind connecting the lore of the past to the present. But team statistics and such should stay tied to their original owners no matter how far they travel. (If the original Browns won a Super Bowl for example, that should be credited to the Ravens because of the move. Not to the new expansion Browns.)

    • @FusionCyborg
      @FusionCyborg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason why it's like this in the NFL is because the govner of Cleveland, Ohio got salty after the Pre-96 Browns left for Baltimore and filed a law suit, which ended up allowing the players to move with the team to Baltimore, but the records, colors, & history was to be transferred to an Cleveland expansion team, resulting in the Modern-Day Browns being considered the same team as the Pre-96 Browns.
      TLDR: Cleveland got salty and sued

      The above explanations are correct. I have the 1997 NFL Handbook and among the franchises is listed the "Cleveland Browns Trust," which was created out of the litigation pursuant to Modell's departure. The agreement stipulated that the Baltimore Ravens would get a clean slate for their team and NFL records and that the expansion franchise would inherit the previous NFL history of the former Cleveland Browns.
      As an aside, if there is one franchise that deserves an SB win as much as the Lions, it's the Browns.

"Indianapolis" Colts did not go 13-1, that was the Baltimore Colts. The "Los Angeles" Chargers have never gone 14-2 in their brief history, that was San Diego's accomplishment. Nothing wrong with the accuracy of this video, because franchise-wise the records are correct, but it would be better imo if the records reflected the team's current city
