    Love them or hate them they're the future of the East Coast Mainline and with more and more entering service now by the week I thought I'd put a short video together of some of the footage I've caught of them in their first few months of action. Something I'm sure in years to come will be something to look back and remember when they were brand new. Includes various shots, some at speed others of the sets arriving or departing. Footage taken at London Kings Cross, Stevenage, Conington Crossing, Grantham, Doncaster & Lockerbie.
    I shall be putting together a compilation video / tribute to LNER's HST's and some of the footage I've taken of those over the years as well. So if you're a fan of the 125's look out for that video coming soon too.
    Thanks for watching!

    I prefer the 225 still. The 225s are the first train I traveled to London on and I will miss them. They were comfy and I think still had another 10-20 years left in them easy.

      It's not about them being able to run for another 10 or 20 years its about newer, more environmentally friendly and more economical trains.

      @Cactus732 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tsu 800 that makes sense for replacing the diesel 125s, but I highly doubt the Azuma is much more efficient than a 225 and it definitely isn’t more environmentally friendly once you’ve factored in the production process if the new sets

    Nice catches, they certainly are pretty trains! From a passenger perspective, you can feel the acceleration so much more than on the 91/Mk4 trains, although the seats are much less comfortable...

    Great looking train. This is what the successor to the HST would have looked like if Britain still built its own trains anyway! Its obviously been designed specifically for the British market to British specification and design briefs.

      @stephen galley Well it's our own fault for ruining our manufacturing by under investment and letting the unions allow the workforce to strike for the slightest reasons! Btw, where do you think Bombardier or Alsthom come from? We've had foreign trains for years!

    • @tsu8003
      @tsu8003 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @stephen galleyTbh I don't think HS2 will happen and I think we should put it on hold anyway, watch how the Japanese manage with the construction of their mag-lev from Tokyo to Osaka and then build a similar system here, even if we have to get Japan's help with it.

      The IC 225 is a faster train wich can top off at anywhere between 140-155-162 mph it set as a speed record for these trains. They where scheduled to run at 140 mph but it never happened due to infrastructure upgrades that never came. The Azuma can go up to 140 mph but is limited to 125. I’m decently sure these can go way faster than the IC225 assuming with some touches they can head up to 170 mph plus but nobody knows that considering it hasn’t had a speed run yet or a speed run to the public.

    I don’t get why they ordered so many 5 car units just to run them doubled up as 10 cars. Why not just order 10 car trains if you’re going to do that? Makes no sense. Same goes for GWR.

    Pros: bi-power units to avoid dragging on non-electrified routes.
    Cons: ugly, cheap and a horrendous ride quality. They do not come anywhere near the mk3 or mk4 nor will they have the longevity witnessed by the 125’s and 225’s. I’ll be surprised if they’re still running on the ECML by 2035.
