Favorite part of the channel is the fact that Seth speculates how mid level or underpowered cards are going to be used in standard or commander. It’s really great insight for people who don’t have the money to just get the best cards.
it honestly fucking sucks - i cant keep up with 6 sets year plus a massive long running set. i should honestly just stick to pioneer/explorer at this point
A lot of reprints though, so if you've been playing a while it's not that bad. And when Pioneer finally comes to arena we have a real format where you don't need many new cards each set.
It might be a cool idea to make some standard decks made entirely by foundations cards. These cards are good until 2029, so trying to make a deck from them will last you longer.
I don’t know how he failed to mention that fact that it works FANTASTIC with just 2 or 3 creatures that ALREADY have trample. Two Dreadmaws gets you 32 damage! A single trio of Gruff Triplets gets you 39 damage!! But he only discussed using it in extreme go wide decks?!? I honestly believe he was tricked by the artwork.
The main advantage of Kinship Banner over Coat of Arms, is that the fellowship counters persist after your board gets wrathed, so the next elf you play after the inevitable sunfall is still going to be buff as hell
Door of Destinies also does this. The main advantage Banner specifically has is the surprise factor of the immediate huge buff to take out an unprepared opponent
Seth: Sire is the best card for new players since it’s just a big creature with a bunch of keywords. New player, probably: what does any of these mean? Oh well, still pretty cool looking.
Tbh, outside of the new Chandra for my Chandra tribal deck, I’m more excited about cards from the jumpstart side of the set, more specific, the equine commander of my dreams~
Celestial Armor is Maul of the Sky Clave plus protection and flash. I think that’s really good. Maul of the sky clave on a 2 mana double striker is 6 flying damage turn 3
I think it’s so worth a sacrifice deck to be green because you also will get access to mosswood dread knight who is a non token that is recurable and draws cards
The fact that Seth failed to even CONSIDER the possibility of using Preposterous Proportions on creatures that ALREADY HAVE trample is honestly insane. PREPOSTEROUS, even! All you need is TWO DREADMAWS and you’ll be doing 32 trample damage!! A single trio of Gruff Triplets and that’s 39 trample damage!!!! But he ONLY talked about using this with tiny 1/1 tokens??!?? What?!! Honestly, I think he got tricked by the artwork. This card is TERRIBLE with tokens. But it’s FANTASTIC with just having 2 or 3 medium sized tramplers.
Kiora is pretty good in manifest dread. It’s not that hard to put stuff in the grave with manifest dread and the 8/8 is just another big threat the opponent has to deal with in addition to oculus
On the Preposterous Proportions argument that you should just play Craterhoof…I gotta say I wish people would stop saying these sorts of things. Staples in commander are what chip away at the spirit of the format IMO. If enough people quit trying to “min-max” their decks and focus on doing more unique/fun things I think they’d enjoy the format a lot more. Reducing the number of “staples” in our decks has made my playgroup enjoy our decks and play sessions a lot more. Of course, I’m excluding CEDH in this comment - but that’s a whole different topic.
Soul weaver: skirk prospector, wild cantor, wild barbarian, tinder wall, storm who? Edit: another version could be goblin bombardment and a bunch of 0 mana creatures. Cycle the whole deck into your opponents fact on about turn 3
I'm a little shocked you didn't bring up Quilled Greatwurm with first strike or double strike creatures. As they would get the counters before they get hit back.
No, it’s an “additional cost” that occurs when you cast it from the graveyard. So you remove the counters once, as part of casting the spell, and also have to pay the mana for it.
The only deck in which I play Harvester of Souls is Be’lakor, where it is important to the deck that it is a demon. High-Society Hunter is objectively better, but it is not a demon :
Is the Starter Set legal in Standard and even Pioneer? Or is the only legal set the Actual Foundation set? Yes, I know the Jumpstart Set is only legal in external Formats…… But, the….. some of the Reprints are pretty Food….
Soulflayer and etc don't get abilities that are not written on them, do they? Sadly (or gladly) they are not dinamically updated with new evergreen keywords like ward
They are not dynamically updated, so there are differences between the lists on, for example, Cairn Wanderer and Bleeding Effect (landwalk, protection, and shroud versus menace, indestructible, and hexproof)
Soul Weaver can just be a good, above-stat creature that allows one to refill against board wipes. It has REACH. The times I've perished to flyers is vewy sad.
@@RasmusVJS okay you can make 5-7 slivers. It's not that big of a deal considering I'm sure there going to put 5-7 Eldrazi. More importantly they could put a few ina couple sets and it would be fine. They print Eldrazi, elf's, Merfolk, and goblins all the time. Slivers get nothing.
Every channel I have watched has underestimated Preposterous Proportions. This card ends the game. If 2 creatures go unblocked game over. Even if they do block it is a one sided board wipe and puts your opponent at low life if even 1 gets through. It is good when you are behind on the board too. Vigilance means they can't just attack you back if you fail to kill them. So if you are ahead it is game over. If you are even on board they lose their board and you keep your's (likely win the game). If you are behind it evens the board back up with no risk to you. This is also not even considering flying, trample and double strike that is running all over the place.
1:51 Haha, it has 7 keywords. Wait, not "haha" more like WTF? 5:33 I can't help but think I'd prefer these 2 abilities on different cards. 11:00 Threshold in the Core Set is still bad. This is fine otherwise. 14:00 It's no overrun. But it's darn close. 17:00 Stop doing this kind of thing WOTC. Just stop. 19:00 Neat ability. Oh, on a splashable non-legendary that's above rate? God damn it WOTC. 22:00 Bloomburrow's (U) is a better design and more useful in limited. Fail. 25:00 No. Why does the Core Set have multiple (R)/(M) Vampires. We only need one, and this isn't it.
I am not falling for wizard's reprint new card crap. I will not participate in this and will lose no money to this. I much rather spend on supplements and invest time into gym.😅
Kiora has to hold the record for the most cards while having the least impact on the story.
Who?
She’s still my Waifu
Give Kellan some more time
😂
Favorite part of the channel is the fact that Seth speculates how mid level or underpowered cards are going to be used in standard or commander. It’s really great insight for people who don’t have the money to just get the best cards.
14:10 the call back in the flavor text to the messed up lemures art if fun
With Maze's End, don't forget Vinelasher and Pillage the Bog also exist, so combined with Lumra, that's three different wincons.
Product fatigue? I'll never get enough of seth spoiler videos!!!
Ridiculous number of cards in the set means you better have a ridiculous number of wild cards ready, Arena player.
it honestly fucking sucks - i cant keep up with 6 sets year plus a massive long running set. i should honestly just stick to pioneer/explorer at this point
A lot of reprints though, so if you've been playing a while it's not that bad. And when Pioneer finally comes to arena we have a real format where you don't need many new cards each set.
foundations rotates when?
you've time
My way to try keeping the path is having almost 1 mythic wildcard, 1 rare and 8.000 coins at least
@@evilotto9200 Worry not, now you also have one more set in Standard.
3:06 One day this urborg lhurgoyf might work. One day.
It might be a cool idea to make some standard decks made entirely by foundations cards. These cards are good until 2029, so trying to make a deck from them will last you longer.
Underrated comment
@jeremypietrolungo5332 yes no one has ever thought of making decks from the newest set
29:46 Anyone else hear "Massacre Girl, Gnome Killer"?
She’d kill a gnome if she had the chance.
Preposterous Proportions is an amazing card just for the borderless flavor text. I don't know how you failed to mention that.
I don’t know how he failed to mention that fact that it works FANTASTIC with just 2 or 3 creatures that ALREADY have trample. Two Dreadmaws gets you 32 damage! I'm so sad we didn't get Wizard's Lighting with Viashino Pyromancer and Ghitu Lavamancer
I think they said they tested it but it was too strong for standard
Favorite card of the day? Angelic Destiny. One of my pet favorite cards ever. Invisible Stalker/Geist into Angelic Destiny= SCOOPS! 😂❤❤❤
Three tree city might finally have a chance to shine
Reprint Rancor, cowards!

THOUSAND YEAR STORM IS GETTING REPRINTED IN STANDARD!!! I am so happy. I get to build stupid bad decks for several years.
Omg I love Kiora so much. So excited for this!
High-society hunter is cracked. It's going straight into my Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher deck
Seth: Sire is the best card for new players since it’s just a big creature with a bunch of keywords.
New player, probably: what does any of these mean? Oh well, still pretty cool looking.
4:31 French Vanilla
I actually really like the reprints, it might be just being nostalgic talking but I liked playing with most of those cards
Celestial armor with nahiris resolve! Every upkeep make a different creatures indestructible, flying, and hexproof.
Only half a year left for Sunfall. Fingers crossed for no new exile wrath (or at least a worse one).
Oh no! Cedric back to commentary and Harbinger of Tides back? Are we in for more Har-BING-er of Tides!? lmao
The seven Eldrazi has 7 keywords, costs 7 and is 7/7. Awesome. I bet favourite movie of guy who designed it is Se7en. Btw cool movie, watch it.
T-Rex: finally some good food

Take a shot whenever Sunfall is mentioned....
Leyline axe with Quilled Greatwurm seems funny. There’s probably a better way to get double strike but I want leyline axe to be useful so bad haha
Can't wait to let these creatures fight against spongebob, cloud stryfe and spiderman!
Cloud Strife
DESECRATION DEMON?! Hell yes!
Seth, remember to talk about the change to combat damage!
Kiora is pretty good in manifest dread. It’s not that hard to put stuff in the grave with manifest dread and the 8/8 is just another big threat the opponent has to deal with in addition to oculus
26:19 I had a deck just like this before rotation! The lack of Morbid Opportunist kind of killed the deck, but maybe it can return

I'm a little shocked you didn't bring up Quilled Greatwurm with first strike or double strike creatures. As they would get the counters before they get hit back.
How does removing counters the bring back the worm work ? Is it on the stack so you could hypothetically do it twice?
No, it’s an “additional cost” that occurs when you cast it from the graveyard. So you remove the counters once, as part of casting the spell, and also have to pay the mana for it.
celestil armor is very similar to maul of the skyclaves, which saw a lot of play in mono W when it was in standard so i wouldn't sleep on it
The only deck in which I play Harvester of Souls is Be’lakor, where it is important to the deck that it is a demon. High-Society Hunter is objectively better, but it is not a demon :
Banner of kinship might just be great in elves even in standard,
Wilt-Leaf Liege is back in standard? Welp, time to make GW Little Kid again!
All this talk of Sunfall but forgetting to mention Day of Judgment will be legal again.
angelic destiny is a banger ^^
Celestial Armor is gonna break my heart in standard
Man, I just wish we could have LD back...
Do we know if them adding "of their choice" to the text of sacrifice effects is just a Foundations thing, or if that's the new standard?
Not talking about Crystal Barricade :(
HOLY ANGELS GUIDE MY WAY
34:58 as a modern merfolk player I feel attacked and seen at the same time
I feel like CoCo is coming to standard because elves without CoCo is gonna be lackluster.
Henzie loves soul weaver, but it competes with him in cmc 3 slot
Is the Starter Set legal in Standard and even Pioneer? Or is the only legal set the Actual Foundation set? Yes, I know the Jumpstart Set is only legal in external Formats…… But, the….. some of the Reprints are pretty Food….

3:27 Scavangers doesn't copy ward. It's too bad WotC has something against copying keywords to apply to ward.
Throw some boots on that Eldrazi.
Preposterous proportions with elves making mana? That’s not slow.
if ward is a triggered ability then wouldnt roaming throne double it?
I think jund sacrifice is also very possible
Ngl, kiora might be decent as a 1 of in graveyard beans.
Shhhh i picked up my set of Scavengers before i saw the card and only "7 keyword creature" coming 😅
I wonder if you could make the Frilled Greatwurm+thing in the Ice (and other cards) thing into free value with an agatha's soul cauldron effect.
As a New Zealander... Whenever someone says Kiora I cringe because its exactly how people mispronounce "Kia ora" 🤣.
Again Eldrazi without needing direct colorless mana SUCKS.
Lmao nobody was getting excited for craw worms.
Really struggling with "High-Society Hunter" today
Maybe we get wizard lightning?
starting to think foundation's purpose is to curate standard brawl
Seth, how come you haven't talked about Twinflame Tyrant?
Green hasn't been good in standard? LOL GB was one of the best decks for awhile.
now just give me Loxodon Smiter on Arena! :(
valyrie enchantment is so obscene for control decks imo, just reviving your board after a board wipe.. just.. wtf
Soul Weaver can just be a good, above-stat creature that allows one to refill against board wipes.
It has REACH. The times I've perished to flyers is vewy sad.
Is Seth wearing a days n daze shirt?
Sire is tron mana.
40:12 I remember when reckoner bank buster was mazemind tome at home 🥲
aurelia in jeskai convoke?
I'm going to sunfall till it rotates
CREEP IS ALIVE AND WELL IN 2025

"french vanilla" lol

People are reading Preposterous Proportions as an Overrun effect, but what it actually is is a 7 mana green boardwipe. Think about that.
It is almost like he said this in the video..
Seriously…enough with the Sunfall. I mean jeeezzz! It’s not like its a colorless card that can go in EVERY deck.
Standard is getting to much power creep
*laughs in Modern Horizons 2*
Feels almost like Modern from years past. It's gotten crazy fast.
This huge new card pool that's legal for at least 5 years is almost a guaranteed attempt by wizards to make standard a stronger format
Nah lmao most of foundations has seemed underpowered
I’ll be honest… most the cards here seem pretty tame
