I have the pre-covid Model 605, mat-black but I stripped it and gave it a high polishing, just replaced the grips this weekend, I bought the MBT Bold Pocket Grips through Amazon!
Just pulled the trigger on one of these, no pun intended. I noticed a trend of these going up in price little by little and after watching a lot of videos I bought it for what it is. It's not a collectible, it's not a precision gun, it's just a gun. Definitely feels good in the hand, you forget its on you from how light it is.
the taurus j frame (85, 605, 856) revolvers are excellent sidearms, especially for newbies or a “one & done” piece. fills every role (bedside, camp, ccw, car trip) perfectly well for most law-abiding, normal, civilians. the only drawback is 38/357 ammo is more expensive than 380/9.
New subscriber, this is the first revolver I purchased a while ago. Great gun for the price!!!! Great camping, fishing, hiking gun. I used to live in the northeast when I had purchased it and a lot of places I would fish and go hiking had black bears, bobcats and coyotes so it was always on my hip during those times. You can't go wrong getting one of these for the collection!!
I just ordered a 605 black matte, thank you for the great review. I’m going to get that hog grip as well. You should do a video on cleaning and maintenance. Very good points 🙌
