Rust free is most important. It's crazy that a few years ago these were $1,000-4,000 cars. The insane trajectory of MkIV prices and Japanese classics in general has made them go crazy. Good buy! It's sad the 7M never got to shine here because of the head torque issues. At least it's a well understood issue now.
Great find! Toyota is dear to me, I worked in the manufacturing of them for 22 years! I've been to all their North American factories and their quality has always been awesome! Great addition to your line up of cars!
I appreciate your taste in cars. I myself love musclcars, having owned a 70 Camaro 350 and 79 Trans Am 400 4speed WS6 Package. I was originally looking into the 2nd generation Supras when I started doing research on the 3rd generation and I agree that I love them. Hopefully I’ll find a good one for a decent price.
"Too Bubbly" were the exact words I was thinking before you said that. I love the eighties Japanese cars especially the ones with pop up head lights. I can't wait to see you ripping this around.
I just got an all original 88 targa top 5 speed 7MGTE with only 27k miles on it... It cost me buying lunch for a coworker to grab it with his flat bed. The guy was just happy to have it gone.
REALLY good guide dude. Should be mandatory for anyone buying an MKIII to watch this and Hagerty's guide. Obviously it's hard to go in the "expert" on MKIIIs for sale before you've owned one. I basically went in blind with my 1988 NA Auto purchase last year, but it was also in REALLY good shape. Interior is some of the best I've seen from these and outside looked great too (as it should for $8,000 lol) It was a garage queen which showed because just ONE month out in the sun, both bumpers started cracking and peeling their paint, not going to be cheap to re-paint those. I was lucky enough that the guy had the headgasket replaced (Is there any easy way to tell if they used ARP studs?) and all the valves redone. The 7M-GE is less problematic than the GTE, so I'm crossing my fingers. One issue I did have 5 months into owning it was major power steering leaks. The shop charged me a hell of a lot for those hoses and it's not something I think you can really check for unless you get an inspection. All in all, It's not only the most amazing car I've ever owned, it's the best one I've seen hands down inside and out. After fulling converting to LED and with back/quarter window louvers, she looks like nothing else on the road and you can just feel the presence of it as everyone looks. It's a blast to drive and extremely comfortable. Hope you treat her right! EDIT: I laughed my ass off when you pointed to the seatbelt strap and stated they are always broken, you clearly know your MKIII's, they almost always are, both mine included.
Yeah if you take one of the valve covers off and you look stock bolts have a 10mm Allen, ARP bolts use a hex head, and ARP studs use a stud driven in by a small Allen key and hex nuts. If you do that double check torque specifications 72 for ARP bolts and OEM bolts, and 80 for ARP Studs. Lol I have owned many mk3 Supras over the years and only 2 where good examples. I love the cars b/c The incredible balance between luxury and GT performance, and for the most part very high-quality build. But there are definitely things that are always damaged or missing. Never once have I ever seen the plastic shroud that sits below the engine for better aerodynamics, nor a clean original center console lid.
@@LunarOutlawsGarage Oh the huge plastic skid guard that screws in under the car's engine? yeah I totally have that. Though within 5 months of owning it, it tried to leave the car, I screwd it back. My center console is immaculate. Just wish there were cup holders. Even the steering wheels is in extremely good shape. I gotta take care of her!

It took a few years to coordinate picking this car up and I got to say I was not disappointed at all. That entire time I never seen a single photo of it
Ah The 3rd Gen Supra. A very attractive series. I had the chance to drive one with the turbo 7M-GTE in it and that was the first car that I had driven that pushed my butt back in the seat when flooring it. It is too bad that this generation Supra and the Cressida of the same era were kneecapped by the factory due to not torqueing the head bolts down causing head gasket issues and engine damage if the owner does not discover the head gasket issue before it overheats the engine or ruins the bearings due to the coolant in the oil. The thing I also like is that it is not a Mark 4 Supra which looks too much like a bloated toad. There is a lot to like about Japanese cars. Mainly fuel injection (no carbs to screw with). I would love to see a fully stock and great shape first generation Mitsubishi Eclipse. Those were the cars to have. in 1990 when the Eclipse, Laser and Talon came out, it was like a breath of fresh air. So sleek. I loved the sound the doors made closing
Lol I like that bloated toad. I generally say it looks like it was a bar of soap that was left in the sink for a little too long. The Mitsubishi eclipse always seem to be completely butchered these days.
The Toyota built Supras are the best! It’s an 86? Sorry if you said. I didn’t catch it. That’s a sweet car. I’m glad you’re keeping it original. If you’re after a mopar, Ought to see what the guys at Gràveyard Carz in Oregon can do for ya.

Just like them redefining Pluto as a dwarf planet, I do believe the definition that you presented is flawed in a very large way. They redefined Pluto as a dwarf planet, because it can’t in fact use its gravity well to move things out of this orbital path. If you were to take the Earth and put it in the same orbital path as Pluto, it would have that same problem. Any definition that could redefine the Earth as a dwarf planet is not a very good definition. So, where am I going with this you may ask? Challengers produced after 2007 were produced in Ontario, Canada, and some of the 1970 Hemi Cuda, Road Runners, Challengers, and Chargers were also produced in Canada.
