I recall watching The Downbeat podcast and Connie was talking to Craig about how the band wanted to go a more unhinged route with their sound and how they don’t want every record to sound the same. I love to see it come to fruition.
Fair enough, most bands in that genre all sound the same which is why theres only a handful really pushing forward. Theres was a time where people were creative with influences instead of being a mimic@@thatoneguy2136
@@transsexual_computer_faery I’ll give you several. The Word Alive, Anything off Deceiver vs their recent album Hard Reset. Hounds of Anubis alone blows anything they have put out in the last several years. The Devil Wears Prada, Plagues and Roots Above vs their recent albums. Difference is night and day. Zombie ep 2 was alright tho not gonna lie. And then look at I See Stars’ comback… left A LOT to be desired. One band that absolutely did it right was Blessthefall, Wake the Dead 👌 So yeah I hope I have several examples of why I don’t like the modern ‘core sound. It’s so bland and boring
SYSC are one of those bands that keep evolving but continue to refine their signature sound in their music. I'm beyond happy and excited for what's coming next. I literally love this band so much.
fun fact: matt squire, who produced a fever you can't sweat out (p!atd), also produced this album! believe in an interview connie said this album has afycso inspirations
The start jazzy part melts with the most iconic SYSC sound, missed so much Connie's vocals and the whole unique blend of sounds. Glad to have you back. This is going to be an awesome EP for sure.
Awesome. I love how SYSC give a sh*t about conventions and common commercially promising music-patterns horribly often adapted by modern bands and instead combine the stuff they want 👏. This has a lot of Emery vibes in it and I miss the heavy days of this band.
Surprised no one has mentioned the sonic similarities to Fear Before (the March of Flames) as well. Also a bit of Drop Dead Gorgeous. They are killing this sound and bringing ALL the nostalgia that comes with it without being overtly campy or condescending about it.
I don't think y'all are getting it. If it goes hard and makes me🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 then it's metal. I'm not labeling it. I don't care what genre it is cuz it's an excellent hardcore song
Incredible. Simply incredible. This music video was shot so well. The music is so fresh and yet such a crystal clear memory from when I was a teen. You guys are on top of your game with every release. I’m so proud to be queer. Big wins for the gays.
I love this song so much. Listen on repeat so many times. Not just the song, the album front to back. For me, its been a long time since I appreciate an album that much. Thanks guys, cant wait to see you in montreal!
I fucking saw them last year and they're coming back with their next album now I'm so damn happy. I remember when Romance of Affliction came out and how clearly impressed I was for them to get Aaron Gillespie on a song. Can't wait for the next one boys!
No other post hardcore band pushing it this way. When that intro kicked in with the claps, I just felt compelled to grab a big knife? This is my AOTY 2024, off the 3 singles.
I hesitate to call what they do a throwback because in a way it feels like they do everything they do with more sincerity than many bands that likely inspired them. This is like such a cohesive and meticulous video. Very glad they have stayed around.
I love u connie so much emotion. I don't think they know how much the help people emotionally. So generic but this is the only band I truly connect too ❤
Is that girl Iris French by any chance? That pronunciation of "coup de grâce" was spot on. edit: nvm, apparently she's American, from Missouri, but she does have a masters in opera performance, so I guess she did get to practice a lot in Romance languages.
I recall watching The Downbeat podcast and Connie was talking to Craig about how the band wanted to go a more unhinged route with their sound and how they don’t want every record to sound the same. I love to see it come to fruition.
Really catchy melodic choruses, too. It's like if you plucked a hardcore band our of 2004 and brought them here.
With some many bands trying to bring back nu-metal it's nice to see SYSC bring back Drive-Thru records screamo in style 💜
we need more screamo back
lol, im just a little remember, how they song title "stop calling us screamo" 😅
MySpace Screamo all day
yes
If you haven’t, check Static Dress also
Iris.exe can sing 😮
It had been a long time since we got a new Alesana song, I didn't know it would come from SeeYouSpaceCowboy.
Huh, now that you say that, it DOES sound a bit like Alesana.
ohhh shit, "congragulations i hate you" type chorus
Wow, good comparison. Really does sound like an Alesana tune
Two of my favorite bands. Would love to see them on tour together if they haven't yet
Good thing Alesana is working on new material
holy shit they just keep getting better
ikrr

Yes this was fantastic!
This is 2005-2007 at its core. The notable influences to their own sound an originality. Masterpiece
Legit one of the few bands that sticks to that sound. Which is why I like them. Modern ‘core sound is hella boring

I mean that’s fair haha

@@Crumbz19bruh same. Also Connie’s look is so fucking fierce I love it.
That break at 3:51 is INSANE, SYSC really brought the heat with these. Those claps and that riff get me so hype

@Nanokeeps this style of music was huge in 09
i'm so happy for iRis.EXE :') never have i heard "coupe de grâce" sang so melancholic but intimately alluring at the same time
Thanks to SYSC for introducing her to me.
Her solo stuff is totally different but awesome nonetheless :)
