at 14:37 into the run, I'm still in the opening graphics... and ur at the palace lol, and if I was skipping graphics and trying to just get through the game fast (ish) then i'd be in giza plains lol.
Im 3 years late but can anyone explain the speedrun categories to me? This is a 2 hr any % but the other any %s are like... 5-7 hours long? Is there a banned glitch or something? What am I missing? Ty for response.
Hi there! Yeah, It can get a bit confusing. So, there are 3 different releases of FFXII which give them their own Boards. Original on PS2, IZJS which only released in Japan and TZA. The 5-7h category is most likely the Original PS2 run. Since the remaster is drastically differrent from both the Original and IZJS, tza has its own leaderboard. I personally like both versions, but enjoy the PS2 versions more, since you have more freedom with the licenseboard. As to why the time difference: There are multiple factors as to why the time is so much faster. Most of those timesaves can also be applied for IZJS: - faster load times (only TZA) - Speed up function, makes the game up to "4x" faster (this is faster than the izjs speedup) - rebalancing of enemy stats - Introduction to Invisible weapons such as Seitengrat (Seitengrat is mega OP with 224 atk power and a 25% crit chance, and no licenses is needed to equip it too). That around covers the biggest timesaves for the run compared to Ps2. If you have anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask :)
You don't have to feel weird, thats just speedrunning for you! It's normal for runners to finnish a game when they speedrun in a fraction of time that it took them to beat it for the first time casualy. Heck, my first every playthrough of FFXII back on the Ps2 was over 200 hours and on said save I've never 100%ed the game. Enjoy your casual playthroughs and get curious about the speedrun(s) after, thats how I got about it :)

Thanks for the answer but what the hell were the designers thinking xD, how are you supposed to know that, why would you want to spawn a specific enemy in your game only when a character has 10% health ?
@@louismartin7608 the monster is like a scare/execution thing. it only appears once unless you bug the game by leaving the zone before it despawns. There is a RNG Tool avaialble to get the Seitengrat on PC, but it does read the games memory to see which RNG Position you are on (reading the games memory directly via a third party programm is not allowed for runs) whereas for the PS4 version, you can use the Cure values to see where you are at atm. @@BlueHarvey for sure I don’t run FF12. (Enjoyed it too much casually and I like my speed runs around an 60-90 minutes usually). I enjoyed 12 years ago. TZA was a blast as well.
Its The Ps4 Version which makes it faster. There is a way to get Seitengrat on PC but its so inconsistent that its not worth trying. Whilst the Ps4/5 version has a consistent way of getting Seitengrat. Seitengrat speeds up the game by A TON!
