Perfect example for not to low cut everything.
you can reach a pretty analog color with low shelf and without exasperating curves
@@edoardocoppola1180 color is about saturation, not about equing
@@79keydet in music when you use the term color you can refer to many things, i said analog color, it means that if you dont make cuts but shelfs its going to sound more like an analog eq since analog eqs are more "bell curve" sounding and are commonly defined as a more "colorful" option than vst parametrics, so it was about emulating the analog result, if we are talking about the aim of every plug in, saturation is used to bring out more harmonics from a sound, if u use alot of it its going to be more like a distortion, the color is the intrinsic sound that every effect(mostly analogs) has regardless the settings, you could notice that simply applying an eq with no settings on in a track the sound changes just a little bit, maybe it becomes more hot or more cold but it is just the sound passing trough the plug that makes a specific change, well that little change is color, there are plugins that specificly adds color but they are most of the times analog emulators (99 percent of real analogs or analog sims are also used just to add color without touching settings)
@@79keydet Also color is the shot term for "tone color" that is a synonym of "timbre", so no, color is not about saturation, color is about everything that can change timbre, saturation can change the timbre like many other instruments but is not meant for it, its meant to bring out harmonics from a sound and make it pop out in the mix without actually increase volume. You cant change the color from a saturator its just going to bring a single timbre related to the saturated channel, nothing to do with color controlling, Obviously you can use any effect as you want for any final result but saturators are litherally about saturation, its just a type of distortion.
@@edoardocoppola1180 so called "analog color" is just analog circuit distortion harmonics which can be reproduced with a saturation effect in digital. Different analog circuits give different circuit distortion enriching sound with different harmonics. Thats what "analog color" is about. Different analog EQs have different analog colors since their circuits are built different thus introducing different sets of harmonics. Most popular among EQ "analog colors" is Pulteq circuit distortion harmonics set.
No clue what's happening or what's even changing but it's still cool 👍
😂😂
Same. I’m lost
He’s basically fixing the phase and adding attack again and then once again fixing some more phase issues
These are the tips mixers need. This is a 💎
Please make a in-depth video about this
Kickstart2 move the fade to the end of low end frequency of the kick. Make sure the bass not bigger then the kick phase shift if needed. Done
and now the MP3 is worth 99 cents : cheers 🥂
King of mixing/mastering 🥳
These are some of the most helpful tips 😮
always bringing the Heat Luca!!!! See you in Vegas!!
This was fantastic!!! Experience turns this into a lightning fast job
This is insane value 🤯
What a rhyme scheme in the the beginning 😀
Yes
Amazing
wow, I mean this is so creative and well explained
Amazing skills. Amen

I would love too see how he mixes a bassline that hasn‘t as much space as this one has. 😊
So I watched one video talking a bit about this, and if it’s possible to create space, it’s worth trying. Sometimes the writing of a bassline has just as much impact on the way it sounds as anything else. Shortening a few tails can make a dramatic difference 🎉 but that’s just one of many methods
@@Bittamin yeah, only proper arrangement allow for an awesome mix. Or use side chain, which, imo does not sound as good if bass is written around the kick.
@@veikster1165 what? You can make sidechaining subtle or aggressive as hell, there's so much freedom in it, if it sounds bad then I've got some news...
In that case you need to use a shorter kick that doesn’t have a ton of sub frequencies and more of a transient “thud”.
I would love to give you one of my drum and bass tracks in studio one to see what you would do to it. Proper mixing G 👌
i can mix it for you
lemm try on it,FOR FREE !
Like a boss 🔥🔥🔥
So cool i want to learn these things

I love this😊
Thank you 🙏
Great🎉
Brabo!
Thank you sir
beautifully done
Holy moly
Nice 🔥🔥🔥
I think Naa ready song was mastered by you only sir🎉
Blew my mind
uhh nice tipp thanks !
Nice 😊
What about note change ? And when the bass note and the kick don’t align ?
🔥 🔥
Fantastic! Which spectrum are you using? Multianalizer?
Nice

How to make one more of about 1000 kick and bass tutorials. I really think we don't need more such kick and bass videos.
Idk what just happened but I want to learn
For real, looks like some good advice but this was advanced. I have no idea wth is going on
Wow
Shelf shape (if you're not working in linear phase mode) creates phase shift anyways (obviously the more you cut the more the phase shifts).
But sounds more stable than a locut
@@mirkomarkovic3438 at first i've read "locust" and i thought why tf has a locust something to do with this? 🤣
The low shelf still has phase shift granted much less but it’s there and it’s correlated to the steepness of the Q, also why do the bass and kick have to be in phase, they aren’t the same instrument recorded at the same time, if you sum the two and flip the phase on one and see the result and guarantee there will be no frequency differences. Also even if it did effect the signal flipping it 180 degrees would only help if the signal was 180 out of phase, slight phase shift could end up getting more audible by flipping the phase.
Cool tutorial, but I would use kick starter and side chain it
The hard shelf will do the same amount of phase shifting as the cut will do
In which section i should see the polarity of the Phase, more in the beginning or where the low frequencies are?
So its not always by ear, finding the sweet spot with the eq is visual
you can Invert the Phase on S1
Can you tell us what plug ins your using to see if the kick bass is in phase or not?
What application is he using?
What’s the plugin that allows him to see the kick n bass bleeds?
Asking same
It's the MMultiAnalyser by Meldaproduction
❤️🙏🏻😊
Hey Luca, what do you think of the Kii 3 digital speakers..I’m replacing ATC25s..
Unless you are using a linear phase EQ, any time you use an EQ you are phase shifting, that’s just how EQ works 😂
He actually goes over that in a few videos.
Different EQs works differently. For example Ableton Live non-linear EQ8 is transparent in oversampling mode and causes no audible phase issues.
linear phase EQ is needed when you eq a sample recorded from 2+ mics. It is most often applicable on multimic drum recordings. If you are EQuing samples from downloaded sample packs most often you would have zero difference if using eq correctly - not carpet equing with a high Q values.
Also linear phase eq causes pre-ringing artifacts...
Id thought using such low cut shelf would cause some phase shifting, unless it was linear phase EQ
so much respect for you ❤
Check the phase AFTER all the processing!
what's that graph plugin you used when low cutting the kick?
The kick is in FaZe
What is the masking plugin he is using ???
super cool! But what's the plugin you use to see the spectrum of the kick and bass together?
U can use SPAN in certain config. And it's free
Spectrum2 from Schulz Audio does it well
I think it's from the free Melda plugins bundle...
Melda Mmultianalyzer 2
this is Melda
is he putting neutron on the kick or the bass? i cant tell which one he is inverting the polarity of
Electronic kick and bass are easy.. try live drums
What spectrum analyzer is that?
How do you tell they are out of phase from the visual information?
How to setup that visualization Melda one?
Why plugin for phase? If your daw can make it?
Which plugin is the analyzer?
Melda production, m analyser or something like that
what plugin he was using on top of Prp Q ?
The best phase correction plugin is PI from Sound Radix
I sometimes wonder if I need to just "track" the song out and go back and fix stuff up later. Kuz I'll spend countless time just fixing up these little things as I go along. And still, evidently, I don't do that well a job 😂
Yeah man i feel like most successful producers will tell you not to stress all these little things, at least not until you have something really solid then you can go in and start tweaking the small stuff
@@TheLonelyCabbage It's a training process. Tryna teach myself to get tf up an not indulge for 13 hours on my off day making music lol. I have learned to get the hook first.
100% don’t get deep into mixing while writing or tracking. Completely halts the creative flow. Write or track the parts, then do the arrangement and then mix
@@gil6878 indeed man thanks
Easy , Pick your kick and bass better. You want the kick to punch your chest or move your bowels ? You still can get a nice and sub mix if you plan ahead at the arrangement phase before you hit record. Thats producing.
how do you know its in phase or out of phase
How can know if my bass is in phase when i use a bass plugin rather than a bass sample.?
oscilloscope plugin
Why do low shelf’s not cause a phase shift as opposed to a hpf?
Did you ever find the answer to this? Great question
sounds the same to me, a '80s rocker.
It sounds similar to Trinidad Cardona's 'Love me back'
What anazlyzer is?
Shelves still cause phase shift.
The bedroom guy telling the Grammy nominated guy what’s what. You go boy 😂
@@alvarezgamers All I did was stated a fact, it doesn't matter who you're nominated by, a fact is a fact.

how do you tell if its in or out of phase in ableton
Ever figure it out I’m wondering the same?
Nah i got a new job, dont have much time anymore for it@@jlaycodzi8071
The problem here is the kick and bass don't just line up perfectly... look at the two wave forms... part of in phase, parts are not... so inverting the phase does nothing!
Isn't side chained as well? So phase doesn't matter.
Ya this video makes no sense to me
@@ericzmusic it does, but here the polarity flip does nothing. He's talking out his butt
they dont have to line up perfectly. Do you understand phasing issues?
@@ericzmusic It matters some, as the ducking doesn't 100% remove one from the other.
They told me Ozone is better for Mixing, is this tru for EDM?
The kick modulates the frequency a lot, where is the point that I need to look at to see if it's in phase or not with the bass?
Why is the pase important if you sidechain it anyways
This is how Kyle beats is gone look like when he gets older
😂😭😭😭😭
Kyle beats sucks ass so hopefully he'll be able to produce some day
Fab filter?
Wow
Name.of the spectrum analyser?
m multianalyzer
@@RufianBeatmaker thank you!
If kick and bass are out of phase then isn't that useful, as kick is being played the bass would already be down but it will be heard as the kick stops. That's like sidechain. What do you guys think?
There is always a crossover of frequency which you need IMO for a natural sound, if it is out of phase you will lose energy and power in your low end
Videos like this make it hard to learn mixing
I think this is for the advanced user - Luca doesn't explain - he just does :)
His goal is actually making you confused and to doubt your own mixing/mastering knowledge, so you buy his bs courses
@@bombaclitt nothing about this is confusing. IF you feel confused after this video see it as a moment to learn about this so that you can watch it again and understand.
@@IngoGarza i’m not confused at all, I understand everything in this video, and I’m saying that the purpose of a lot of these videos is to further confuse beginners with a lot of useless techniques to sell courses.
That first step is 80% of the kick punch…. And is commonly forgotten
Why no lowcut on the Kick?
180* phase shift, a low shelf only has a few degrees of phase shift. Resulting in a much punchier kick.
@@NoQualmsTheArtist Thank you very much for the clear answer!
@@felixftp9670 if you need to Highpass, just Highpass both the bass and kick together or at the same frequency then they both have the same phase shift which keeps them in phase. Or try a linear phase EQ. But this usually doesn't matter as the kick and bass waveforms are so wildly different it rarely makes a difference, just use your ears.
@@NoQualmsTheArtist Oh, I've done that in the past like bass and kick lowcut together. Thank you for the good tip!
Temple of the sun. Kyiv is the mother of Russian cities. I can bless you too, and you will also be Russian. The soul of a bro, it is Russian, where there are no banks, but there is music and turmeric !!
All gibberish to me.
Just side chain it 😂
The kick and bass are in (or out of) phase ?
They are different pitches, so the phase relationship changes over time, some parts are in phase, some out . . . reversing the phase in Neutron made no real difference.
and after this eq shifts phase even more
