I knew the franchise was fooked after reading the movie script of Ep 2 in 2002. The Phantom Menace at least felt like an okay expansion with tons of previously expanded-universe-only additions such as Coruscant. E2 AOTC felt like a lame pointless DLC with no important, universe-expanding content.
The increasing crappiness factor was also reflected in John Williams movie soundtracks. E1 (w/ Duel of the Fates) : GAWD YAAS! E2: Filler garbage. E3: Godawful, repetitious, low-tone choir pieces.
The few good elements in E1 were completely gone by E2. I guess Lucas went bonkers because of all the earned criticism of his obviously merchandising-motivated Jar Jar Binks addition. The same goes with the dumb midichlorians thing. Lucas was told "no" and he became a sulking bitch for the two movies, based on the outcomes.
Zero soul or believability is found in the last two prequels. Those two movies are all about killing off characters. That is what people do with their storytelling when they are DONE with the universe and want to end the story. That is why he never made the third trilogy.

A lot of those movies are shit but anakins story is pretty tight and concise, I think the whole point of those movies was telling anakins story, and they just threw a bunch of other shit in to fill time. I could see why people don’t like it, but in regards to Anakin, it does add to the OT

And anyway, I don't think KK cares if the female character is a good character, or plausible, or complex or easy to empathize with. Rey fills the "protagonist" slot so that they can remove any and all male heroism or courage. They basically just want to smash something that mostly men liked. That's always been the goal.

I can agree that the sequels are not that great, and I can see how many people think he is being too exited for something the majority think is bad, but what do you know? it's something you prepare mentally well ahead of it happening.
by the time my own grandmother died , I had already been through my great grandmother's funeral , cousin's funeral , 5 class mates funerals (whom all died in the same car wreck) , my step dad's funeral , and then my grandfather's funeral. by the time my grandmother died , I understood it as a transistion for her, not so much a loss of life. she lived a long life , and spent the last 5 years alone and depressed after my grandfather died. (they had been married 60 + years when he died ) she had lived with the after effects of a severe stroke the last 20 years of her life, that left her always in the need of other's help. the last ten years of her life her doctor told her she was a ticking time bomb cause she had a building aneurism on one of her heart valves. yet she died peacefully in her sleep from just old age and none of her health issues. her children (my mom , aunt and uncles ) all cried some but not that much. us grandkids (me , my brother , my sister and cousins) didn't cry at all. doesn't mean we didn't miss her , we just understood it was her time to go and given her shaky health it could have ended far more painful for her than it did. last but not least , funerals are not for the dead … they are for the living. so why would any one care if some one doesn't cry at their funeral , I hope my surviving family has a fucking party when I die
because I want their lives to be about joy , not sorrow and regret.

I feel the same way about Star Trek. To think that when I was a boy .. at school me and a friend would be rummaging around the tennis courts picking up pennies that we could find .. cuz all the ‘bad boys’ would enjoy throwing money at us the nerds (pennies of course) .. and I was like … MORE PLEASE!! .. Cuz this money would pay for our Comic book fund. And with those hard gathered pennies we’d go and buy ‘Star Trek’ Monthly .. it’s cost 1.95 (UK Pounds) .. so when you’re picking up 1 penny pieces .. you had to work DAMN hard to afford 2 quids worth.
And I really didn’t care how humiliating it was that we were doing that cuz our love of Trek made it worth it.
Think I’d do that now for Star Trek Discovery? .. or Picard? .. Pft … I’d be the one throwing pennies (wrapped around a rock) at only one nerd enough to buy any modern Star Trek rag.
Point is that at one point my love of a franchise was so great that no humiliation was bad enough for me to be denied my fix of that sweat, sweat comic book action. Those days are so far gone I can’t even believe it.
