Boston had a great team back then and should have won the cup 4 yrs in a row but the team was to busy partying up and lost the cup twice when they were heavy favorite s
In the semi-Finals match against St. Louis, there is a rare occurrence; big Ken Hodge getting into a fight. For such a big man he didn’t fight much. The Bruins champion in this regard was John Bucyk. I can only remember 1 fight “The Chief” got into (from 1969-1976) and with one punch knock the guy unconscience. The best series of all in 1972 may have been the opening rounder vs Toronto. All the games were incredibly close and Boston was down 3-1 going into the 3rd period of game 3. Of Toronto would have held on they would have been up 2-1 in the series.
@@ronmailloux8655 They played well and kept the games close. The B’s should have blown the doors off of them. I remember a fealing of disbelief when they scored the OT goal in game 2.
@@Bradydog-in7ut Parent was at the start of his short but great career . Defense was the LEAFS forte . @@Bradydog-in7ut Bruins gave up Dryden (Lost FOUR times to 'em in the 70s), Parent (Lost in '74 to 'em). And the forgotten goalie who came back to bite 'em in '82, Daniel Bouchard, drafted by Boston! Dallas Smith. I know for a fact he twice led the Bruins in +/- in the postseason. Orr led in '70, oddly enough the only time he ever topped the playoffs in that stat.
@@scottmorissey8915 Very good!! (If you didn’t look!).Dallas never scored much but was a very muscular man who was very good at the defensive end. He also benefited by playing with Orr.
@@matteodilullo2795 Marcotte had just come up and didn’t get enough playing time. It was Dallas Smith. One year, Smith had a +/- rating of +98 in the 70-71 season and is still still one of the highest in League history. Bobby Orr’s incredible +124 for the 70-71 season still hold the league record (one that Gretzky never broke).
@Bradydog-in7ut bruins should have won the cup 4 yrs in a row they had a density back then .someone told me Sanderson and the boys liked to party after games and it showed in game 7 in 71 finals although Dryden didn't help the cause
My Leafs did well(was only ten;hazy memory of series). Two lucky goals by Hodge did the Leafs in in game four. Oh well. I'm over it, even though the Leafs STILL can't beat Boston when it counts. lol
In 1972, it was forgivable, it was a young team still growing. Then Ballard did his Scrooge McDuck impression and refused to pay most of the promising young defense and let the team get stripped of talented Bernie Parent.
Great stuff. I never thought I'd have a chance to relive these great days! Too bad we didn't see all the semifinal games versus St. Louis.

Poor Leafs just didnt have the fire power Bruins had a scare though.

That's Fake News. The Bruins won Game 3 in Toronto. They never trailed in the series.

Question Time!
WITHOUT LOOKING! Which Bruins player lead the +/- catagory in the 1972 playoffs?
Hint; It was not Bobby Orr!

Ahh nice to see real hockey players.. no football pads the goalie wore looks like no pads no chewing mouth piece and over doing it when they scored .
Goalie pads now are huge 2024..mouthpiece all over is dumb

I agree. Ballard actually recounted the loss of talent to Adrienne Clarkson as though he couldn't do anything about it. Typical.
The Leafs came close but it wasn't to be.
